I wonder if a last minute change out where a multitude of states have ballot laws on when they can't be changed. Would the SC reverse all those state laws and allow Democrats to put whatever name they want on there? I'd say that's a coin flip also. I know the NJ allowed Toricelli to do this, even though state law was black and white on the issue. Courts tend to really bow down to voter choice.

People won't watch the speech but won't be moved much by the clips anymore. Basically, in the fourth year of a presidency, the expectations of the electorate are locked in and persuadable voters dwindle. In 2020, Biden was an unknown and Trump was a known. In 2024, both are known quantities. This is shaping up more as a Grover Cleveland revenge tour election than a standard one.

Dementia patients - from what I remember from some of my family members - can often read aloud well but, as stages & time pass, have by far less comprehension about and memory of reading material.
It'll be largely nothing but theatrics from here on out. He looks to have little independence left, and he'll need his family more than ever to keep him in position.
Keep in mind, like most in our nation holding great power, they'll (immediate family unit) operate as one. In their case, almost always, they've resided together including in/at the White House.

Actually, I am. I watch more than my fair share of these kinds of movies. Yes, they are crap. Yes, they are 100% predicable. Yes, they are obviously not directed at me (a white hetero single (actual) man). But believe it or not, they are usually competently acted and produced (albeit on a small budget). They aren't cringe in the way that Britt's rebuttal was. But hey, if there's an audience out there for that, by all means let them think she did a good job.

I am not comparing Biden to Hitler but think of all the speeches where Old Adolf was a spit spewing maniac. For some people, when they're scared, or nervous, or angry about things over which they have no control, they want to see their leadership showing anger. Even if it's over only tangentially related issues. Even if it's counter-productive.
It's an appeal to emotion. Base emotions are the easiest to appeal to. Emotional people are easier to control and easier to keep ahold of.

But the point is; the number of "undecided," the percentage isn't enough to make a difference either way. And no AWFL is going to change her mind after seeing Britt. None.

They are stupid and dumb but they are usually pretty short in an age of over-long, bloated movies. Easy watching for 90 minutes. And the recent gimmick has been to set them in exotic locations, where you'll be shocked to learn that the attractive (but not overly attractive) lead female with tons of emotional baggage has hot and usually stinking rich foreign guys throwing themselves at her. There was one recently in Vietnam. I was there myself so I was like "ok, let me check this out."

You were not the target. One of the things that technology and datamining allow us to do is to microtarget voters. The GOP largely ignored it in the past but the Dems thrive on it. Trump, in part, won in 2016 just by exploiting that data from Facebook (Cambridge Analytica) which horrified the Dems.
Essentially, politics nowadays requires precision bombing aiming at small demographic slices rather than the old way of using massive blockbusters.

I think it's more than that. The voting public overwhelmingly wants younger leadership in our government. A lot of the new party members are younger and want the same. Even Trump has acknowledged that fact. Republicans have an early advantage in that arena. There are a lot of up and coming younger reps and senators. This was also one way to showcase the diversity of the Republican Party. Both in demographics and on issues.

Yep. If you look closely, it's clear they use a greenscreen for the backdrop. It would have looked FAR better if they had used an authentic kitchen as their set. 1 – Nov 5th – mid Dec (EC meets, don’t remember the exact date Dec 15th I think)
2 – mid Dec – Jan 6th (congress certifies the EC results)
3 – Jan 6th – Jan 20th (culminates with the Inauguration)

Period 1 – Electors vote based on the party’s selected replacement (optimal DNC)
Period 2 – Kind of a gray area, VP (kamal-ho) if House feels that it is the voters intent but ultimately could result in the House selecting the President, Senate VP (problematic depending on who retains the majority)
Period 3 – follows the line of succession as specified in the Constitution (epic disaster i.e. pres camel-ho)
Prediction =
1 – the demoncraps run joetato through Nov 5th
2 – totally honest and above board election and the steal comes through again (this is the key)

As Piper noted upstream, many of the people criticizing Trump, MTG or Boebert for no decorum are also criticizing Katie for having decorum.
Personally, I think Britt did fine with what she was given to do. Joe Bitem did fine with what he was trying to do which is save himself from being replaced by the base unhappiness. Joe gave a campaign speech with enough drug induced energy that the base was temporarily satiated.

Some people's idea of a quality candidate are themselves disguised slightly by tweaks in gender, race, religion, etc. Others are by whatever 'authority' proclaims.
I view all politicians as slightly disturbed individuals simply because that is what it need to rise to higher and higher office. That means you have to listen to ignoramuses blathering at you, smile at your oily nasty donors trying to wheedle some legislation or favor out of you, others assuming that they can order you around, and sociopathic/psychopathic staffers lured to DC by a promise of money and power.
WT Sherman had enough exposure to that world to say No Thanks.
