The House on Thursday passed a bill that would require the detention of any migrant who committed burglary or theft, legislation that House Republicans named after a Georgia student who police say was killed by a man who illegally crossed the border.
The measure -- dubbed the Laken Riley Act -- cleared the chamber in a 251-170 vote, with 37 Democrats joining all Republicans present in voting "yes." It was the latest move by GOP lawmakers to put a spotlight on the situation at the southern border, which has emerged as a key issue in the 2024 campaign cycle and a top vulnerability for President Biden heading into the general election.

Guys like this might be why working class minorities, once a mainstay of the Democrat Party, are now nearly split in voter identification. Gee I wonder why.

Cast your mind back to those heady days of 2012 when Barack Obama vanquished Mitt Romney and won a second term in the White House. In that election, Obama carried nonwhite working-class (noncollege) voters by a massive 67 points, while losing white college graduates by 7 points. That means Obama did 74 points better among the nonwhite working class than among white college graduates.
In the next two presidential elections, that differential steadily narrowed as Democrats did worse among nonwhite working-class voters even as they improved among white college graduates. In 2020, Biden carried the nonwhite working class by 48 points (19 points less than Obama did in 2012) while carrying white college graduates by 9 points (16 points better than Obama). That cut the Democrats' positive differential between these two groups almost in half, down to 39 points.
Now it's Biden running for a second term and, astonishingly, that positive differential may have entirely disappeared. According to the just-released New York Times/Siena poll, Biden is actually doing worse among the nonwhite working class, carrying them by a mere six points, than among white college graduates, where he enjoys a 15 point advantage over Trump. Amazing. There is perhaps no better illustration of the Democrats' transformation into a Brahmin Left party, beloved by the educated but increasingly viewed with suspicion by the working classes of all races.

Hasn't for felonies but the problem has been plea bargaining where 90-95 percent of all criminal cases are settled. Many times, illegals are sentenced only for misdemeanors instead of felonies because prior to that it pretty much meant deportation even in Clinton's cruel reign as president. The rising backlog of illegals by the GWB era meant that past candidates for deportation or violators of deportation orders were left alone in order to concentrate on the current influx.

71 I heard a story from a labor & delivery nurse in Texas, about the day before we were there they had to call the police to arrest a guy (an illegal) that was screaming in the ward at all the nurses and docs, to give him the birth certirficate "now!!" because he needed it to get "his monies" as he said. He didn't give a damn about the new mother and the baby that was his. He needed that piece of paper to get that money.

This has been going on a long time and will never end unless we get rid of the anchor baby born on this soil concept.

First thing I was asked: was she born on a U.S. military installation or in a German hospital to German citizens? (The latter.). Because the Germans look upon the matter of citizenship differently as well.

BTW, there is also still a statutory requirement that sponsors guarantee that the person they are sponsoring for immigration will not be a public charge (aka welfare etc.) or the benefits can come out of the sponsor's hide.

That would end the NGO's supporting that shit in the US if the NGO's had to pay for them instead of shuffling them off to taxpayers for the bennies.

What's equally telling is last time I checked Brennan is retired. Why is he even speaking for the intel community?

If you're truly cynical as I am you would believe the intel community has been running this country for a very long time. Until Trump we were allowed to choose a candidate from a group they allowed to run. Party apparatchiks that would color inside the lines.

An outsider like Trump who doesn't agree to them running our foreign policy is a threat to be destroyed.

278 I think this move is to keep Israel from going into Rafah and destroyinig Hamas. The chance that the IDF might harm American troops would keep them from conducting military missions there. The only country that wants Hamas to survive is Iran. Egypt and Jordan have been cooperating with the Israelis. Most arab countries want Hamas destroyed. Gaza could be a viable entity if allowed to form a government dedicated to it's people and not destroying Israel. All that money to build tunnels and armaments with no chance of ever succeeding against one of hte most powerful militaries on the planet.
