10 Evening and morning to all the insomaniacals! 'Tis Thursday, a step closer to the weekend. I'm heading back to work after the last two days off, with yesterday a really good one all around -- so slogging back into the electron mine is even less appealing.

Humidity is down a touch, and it's 65 F., so whatever.

12 Re: Ace's post from yesterday about Woke video gamers:

MLB The Show '24 will feature the ability to create a female player in it's popular "Road to the Show" mode. Complaints about the realism of such a thing were answered with "it's a video game. You guys have players that hit 150 home runs in a season." What's funny is the incel white knights on the game forums who insist that a female (real one, not some tranny) MLB player is not only possible, but imminent.

18 Got a "What's that fur, Auntie Myrna?" moment. If your toaster has a "Bagel" setting, what exactly does it do? Whenever I've used it on a bagel, the resulting degree of toastiness seems more dependent on the heat setting, the length of the toasting. Does the "Bagel" setting actually do something?

Does the "Bagel" setting actually do something?

Supposedly, you should insert the cut side of the bagel inward. Perhaps it adjusts the voltage to the back side of the bagel. That's my guess, which is probably wrong.

It probably does nothing at all.

102 Interesting recap of the events in Georgia last night.

Viva Frei replayed video of Fani being questioned under oath about visits to DC, and was specifically asked about if she had ever visited the White House. Her answer....'no'.

Then replayed Ashleigh Merchants testimony yesterday including records showing her and apparently SD/HC visiting with the Vice President and then going off-site.

Reason for visit was not listed in the billing records from SD/HC.

But, it is a tantalizing suggestion of possible administration collusion in this and possibly other anti-Trump cases.

Also there was a dust up because the Supreme Court didn't attend or something. Anything like this is just dropped down the rabbit hole unless Trump makes a gaff, then all hell breaks loose.

273 for prices to go up and stay up it usually requires government action.

Incredibly, as things came to pass, the author of the one about "to really screw up you need a computer" was Paul Ehrlich.

276 255 Joe is going to propose tax hikes on the wealthy and corporations tonight which may get him some points with the Eat The Rich crowd but will probably go nowhere in Congress.

I know it will never happen but the Fair Tax is the best way to get over eat the rich. It makes everyone pay.

280 Someone should play the reruns of the SNL, "So how big is the President?" to Joe while he's prepping for the speech.

Joe is so demented that he would probably wonder if this is a real issue and try to work it into his dialogue.

"I just want everyone to know that I am bigger the Beau or Hunter, right Jill?"

I use it to summarize Teams Calls and Create Action Item Lists.

I would say it is about 95 pct accurate, which is almost good enough but not quite.

It's good enough for government work and churning out woke content but not good enough for real work.

284 Is anyone inviting Laken Riley's family tonight?

Posted by: Village Idiot's Apprentice at March 07, 2024 07:15 AM (a1415)

285 The ruling by a three-judge panel in Washington, D.C., looked at a lower court's "enhanced" sentencing of a defendant over his “substantial interference with the administration of justice” on the day Congress was certifying Joe Biden's victory over Donald Trump. The appeals court ruled that “‘administration of justice’ does not encompass Congress’s role in the electoral certification process.”

Lump lingered last in line for brains
And the ones he got were sorta rotten and insane
Small things so sad that birds could land
Is lump fast asleep or rockin' out with the band?

He's lump, he's lump
he's in my head
He's lump, he's lump, he's lump
He might be dead

293 Biden will do OK, I’m sure experimental brain techniques have been used to directly implant the speech into the remaining functioning part of his brain. Still, it’ll be a shorter SOTU but the Dems will still pad the runtime with extra long applause.

305 >Not under consideration: Making good games.

Doesn't matter how good a game is if it loses money.

Gamers really want it to be true that the games they happen to like - which is a different set from every other gamer - are also profitable, but we have ample evidence it isn't true. It's gacha games, mobile games, and indie games that happen to catch the public's attention that are where all the ROI is, so that's what's going to get made. "Good" don't enter into it.

307 Hogwarts Legacy was actually good. Most of their other output has been questionable. Heck, even for that game, they didn't include Quidditch because well, they wanted to see the "sport" as a separate game.
