The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“Mr. Schultz, a member of the U.S. Army, stands accused of conspiring to obtain and provide national defense information to an individual overseas,” Assistant Attorney General Matthew Olsen of the Justice Department

Quote II

“If you look at how Joe Biden usually is — slow and stumbling — compared to how he was during the State of the Union — fiery and angry — these are signs that are typical for someone taking Adderall or any amphetamine,” Dr. Carole Lieberman, a forensic psychiatrist based in Beverly Hills, California
Adderall hell! We have a good idea whose cocaine it was now at the White House. It wasn't Hunter's. MushHead forgot where he stashed his coke.

America’s Loneliness Epidemic Comes for the Restaurant

This is Work in Progress, a newsletter about work, technology, and how to solve some of America’s biggest problems. Sign up here.

In 2020, the restaurant business as we knew it looked like a goner. Even its own lobbying group said so. As the pandemic crushed bars and sit-downs, the National Restaurant Association put out a dire prediction: The business would likely never return to its pre-pandemic state.

What we thought was true. Is true. The FBI is a shit stirring organization.

New evidence suggests that the FBI purposefully tolerated and encouraged political violence ahead of the 2020 presidential election so as to target perceived domestic extremists for arrest.

The evidence includes “[t]housands of pages of internal FBI reports and hundreds of hours of undercover recordings” that were obtained by The Intercept, a “progressive” news source.

Blood pressure not spiking enough? The J6 Congressional committee was a Kangaroo Committee. But we already knew that.

The Jan. 6 congressional committee allegedly falsely claimed it did not have evidence showing former President Donald Trump’s administration requested National Guard assistance, according to a report detailing a "hidden transcript" that was recently released.

"The former J6 Select Committee apparently withheld Mr. Ornato’s critical witness testimony from the American people because it contradicted their pre-determined narrative. Mr. Ornato’s testimony proves what Mr. Meadows has said all along: President Trump did in fact offer 10,000 National Guard troops to secure the U.S. Capitol, which was turned down," Georgia Republican Rep. Barry Loudermilk said in a statement on Friday.

Loudermilk released a transcript of former White House deputy chief of staff Anthony Ornato’s interview with the congressional committee investigating Jan. 6 on Friday, following the Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway, also a Fox News contributor, reporting,

The Anthropocene is dead. Long live the Anthropocene - Panel rejects a proposed geologic time division reflecting human influence, but the concept is here to stay

For now, we're still in the Holocene.

Science has confirmed that a panel of two dozen geologists has voted down a proposal to end the Holocene—our current span of geologic time, which began 11,700 years ago at the end of the last ice age—and inaugurate a new epoch, the Anthropocene. Starting in the 1950s, it would have marked a time when humanity’s influence on the planet became overwhelming. The vote, first reported by The New York Times, is a stunning—though not unexpected—rebuke for the proposal, which has been working its way through a formal approval process for more than a decade.

“The decision is definitive,” says Philip Gibbard, a geologist at the University of Cambridge who is on the panel and serves as secretary-general of the International Commission on Stratigraphy (ICS), the body that governs the geologic timescale. “There are no outstanding issues to be resolved. Case closed.”

So it just isn't the Moron Horde who does not want Mitch McConnell's acolyte Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas as the new GOP leader in the senate.

It's Not Just GOA Who Wants Cornyn Nowhere Near Senate Leadership

Sen. John Cornyn handed the Biden administration a huge win by working with the White House to pass the Safter Communities Act. He went against his party's usual stand on gun control and managed to spearhead an effort to get it passed in the Senate, which had been where gun control went to die.

To say he irked a lot of us is to put it mildly.

Frankly, I'd love to see him voted out of office entirely. For now, though, he's still in office and he's got his eye on Mitch McConnell's old job as minority leader.

Gun Owners of America already took a shot at Cornyn.

And lest anyone thing it's just GOA or even me that has an issue with Cornyn, don't get it twisted. A lot of people don't want him near the leadership role. One of those is John Lott.

The State of Washington is looking more and more like East Germany or any other Communist Bloc country.

The Washington state legislature has passed a bill to create a statewide snitching infrastructure for residents to report their neighbors for "wrongspeak."
Senate Bill 5427, which passed both the Senate and the House and now awaits Gov. Jay Inslee's signature, allows private individuals, including non-citizens and illegal aliens, to reports "bias incidents" to the state attorney general's office. Each reporting incident comes with a potential reward payout of $2,000.

The bill's supporters say its purpose is to protect "victims of hate crimes" before said crimes even occur, but at what cost? In essence, SB 5427 creates a tattletale hotline designed to intimidate people in Washington from speaking their minds, especially when such speech might be politically incorrect.

From what we can tell, SB 5427 is unconstitutional for at least the following five reasons:

1) It infringes on one's right to confront his accuser

2) It impedes freedom of speech

3) It violates freedom of thought, an implied right in the First Amendment

4) It steamrolls freedom of religion

5) It impairs freedom of the press

Jeepers, with a $2,000 payout, money certainly couldn't be a factor for turning in your neighbor for saying something unpleasant.

Born to be wild. Born to be a Genius Award Winner.

A man has been jailed after deliberately ramming cars at speeds of 130mph while high on drugs.

Gavin Bathurst-Shaw-Binning, 46, was on a ‘cocktail’ of cocaine, cannabis and alcohol as he drove his silver BMW 125 like an ‘absolute lunatic’ on the M3.

Viewing himself as the ‘enforcer of good driving’, he deliberately crashed into what he considered ‘bad drivers’ during a 30-mile rampage on the busy motorway before he was arrested.

This is not the time to poke fun of women drivers. It is time for Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Dramatic footage from downtown Louisville, Kentucky, last week showed a semi-tractor trailer truck dangling over the water, after nearly plummeting off the Clark Memorial Bridge.

The Louisville fire department was on the scene within three minutes and devised a plan to rescue the driver who was still trapped inside.

Fire Chief Brian O’Neill said the rescue method used is known as a ‘pickoff.’

this pisses me off, since the logic is that the both lizards and birds (and dinosaurs and tuataras and crocodiles) come from the Diapsid arm of Tetrapods, where mammals (and Marsupials and Echinodermata) come through the Synapsid branch, so they aren't actually lizards, they are actually Diapsids, not that actually matters. The path of totality passed right over us, we were off the edge a bit, in 2017.

376 It's an ONT so a little safer than the daywalker crowd here, so I'll attempt to explain, again, that a lot of people in WI voted for Trump in 2016 because, specifically because, he appeared to be a Democrat in a Republican suit. A lot of legacy union people threw it at Trump because he wasn't traditional GOP and looked like an old-fashioned Dem.
Then they did it again in 2020.
The point is, WI went Trump because of that perception, NOT because of enthusiastic support for or from Republicans.
I hesitated to vote for DJT in 2016 specifically because he looked to me like a Dem in a GOP suit. But that same reason got a lot of working-class voters here to check the box for him.

Posted by: LenNeal at March 11, 2024 02:28 AM (9yXr+)

377 My frustration with WI working class people is their pathological attachment to Democrats as the party for 'the little guy' when it hasn't been anything like that for decades. It should be obvious to even the stupidest, drunkest person the Democratic Party is a far-Left coalition of the craziest people on Planet Earth who couldn't give less of a shit about 'the little guy' if their lives depended on it.
On the other hand the GOP is a genuine bag of shit and doesn't deserve one single vote from anyone for any reason.
Anyway, a lot of people here voted for Trump because, incredibly, he seemed like the best bet to restore a kind of status quo of America for the working person.

Posted by: LenNeal at March 11, 2024 02:34 AM (9yXr+)

392 I'm wondering if I should give nightly updates on the latest in police states? I can only thank Gaia that I do not have to ride the subway now. But I love how no journaljizm-type has asked Gov. Hokum to explain the 4th Amendment. And for the record, notice in a lot of pics/clips there are state cops. I have never ever seen a state cop in the subway in my over 40 years here. That's one data point. The other is how willingly the National Guard nitwits so easily follow such blatantly illegal orders, the mass violation of the 4th Amendment of citizens merely going about their day because Gov. Hokum says so. Neither data point bodes well for 2024. I'm getting the feeling more and more as the Democrats acknowledge the reality of their losing hand, with or without Biden, this martial law in the NYC subway is one major Chinese spy trial balloon. I can see the invasion by the illegals creating crises too good to waste deliberately happening in cities all over thanks to this being an election year. This will lead to martial law being declared in various jurisdictions, maybe even nationally if things get bad enough. But take what's happening here now as a very loud klaxon warning.
