Our Costco has a discount hearing aid concession in-store. Only ~$2k give or take, depending on what you want. I am tempted to go try them.

I got some $200 devices from AMZ, and they're comfortable (over the ear but very small) but tend to amplify *everything* so that background noises garble more than without the devices. *sigh* It was worth the try.

"Real" hearing aids are probably tuneable, like mini-equalizers, so that offending noises/frequencies can be reduced and vocal increased.

Yes. I just got ONE in my left ear, as I was almost deaf in my left ear, and had tinnitus in my left ear, which was actually making me nauseous and sick.
Got it at Sam's Club. The hearing specialist there was actually very qualified. It was $2400.

It actually has 128 channels and multiple settings depending on where you are at, and is tuned to filter out a lot of noise, and can actually be controlled by an Ap on your cell phone by Bluetooth.

The downside is that you can't make adjustments yourself. The Audiologist can set up different programs (for different situations) that you can switch between, but if you wanted to get in and tweak things yourself, you're out of luck (though I suppose that may be a good thing).

I am on my third set of hearing aides from the VA. All they do for me is amplify background noise and I am continuously ripping them out of my ears. I am taking the latest pair back to the VA on the 15th and turning them in and then I am going to the local hearing aid place the next day.


Even though I have a 10% rating on hearing loss from the VA and I get my hearing aides free from them, I am willing to pay for hearing aides that will work for me. Being almost deaf sucks.
