In private medicine you are a customer. To earn your money your healthcare providers have to give you service you believe is acceptable...or otherwise you will go to another doctor/hospital/clinic.
In a fully socialized system everything is "free". But free just means the government is paying for it. There is infinite desire for healthcare and finite money so the government then has to ration it. How will they do so? Well obviously those IN the government, their friends, and family will get the best care.
Why? Because like a customer in a private system that pol can give or take dollars from that doctor/hospital/clinic. But if you are not connected? Well to the politicians you are solely a cost. If they pay for your surgery they don't get to pay off a client, please an activist, or hire a relative for a government job.

Just for the record, axles and differentials have been supplier parts for most makes for the last hundred years. Well that's the thing, I think she's going for presumptive not apparent. Brokered convention and technicalities. I'm not an expert on GOP bylaws but I think the way it works is that if the delegates can't or won't choose a nominee based on primary voting then the delegates and more importantly the delegates' bosses can do whatever they want. Suppose that Trump takes most but Haley polls 5-10 percent in most states and takes a couple of the squishier ones, but then Trump is dead or disqualified between now and the convention. She'll default to having the most delegates out of the gate, and the said donor-class leadership likes her more anyway.

Well, I missed all the fun. Just got back from the hospital with my 93 yr old mother. A little after noon, she started displaying stroke symptoms. Confusion, and then incoherent speech.
She had a fall Feb 20, banging her head and causing a slight brain bleed. Scans showed some more bleeding had occurred in that area since. It wasn't active, but recent.
Don't know what the prognosis is going to be. She can't speak coherently, and can't follow commands/instructions much.

What I do hate though, is Geddy Lee's "voice". If such a yelping, barking, ear-piercing warble can be honestly described, as such. It's more in the manner of a pre-adenoidal teen, whose balls ain't dropped yet, but someone's managed to kick him hard enough in the groin to boot-punch those abdominal 'nads, and the sound we hear is the resultant cries of agony and pain.

The previous 49-star flag had 7 rows of 7, offset in a chessboard pattern. So it looked similar to the current one.
If you wanted something different, you could leave the 9 alternating rows of 5 and 6, but have 5 in the top and bottom rows instead.

They're not allowing her food or drink because they're worried about her swallowing. She couldn't not follow the instructions to do that swallow test. They're keeping her hydrated with IV fluid, of course, but nothing to eat since breakfast this morning.
There are signs of seizure activity or close to it as well. When we were getting her in the ER, they needed her to sign a health information release again (Miley and I are on that, but they have to update it seems like every time we go).
She couldn't grasp the stylus for the electronic pad and her hand sort of "clawed" up and she began trembling with it.
Later he would tensely flex that right arm tight and couldn't relax it. They'll be doing a bunch of MRIs and other tests about that.

The early stuff sounded like he was singing with his balls in a vice. The later stuff not so much, he turned it down quite a bit. Personally I like the older stuff when Lifeson's guitar was more in your face with those huge chordscapes and not buried behind endless layers of keyboards. I started listening to them in 1976, and the shit I learned from Lifeson saved my ass in a lot of later situations, and thats coming from a die hard metal guitarist. For me dealing with Lee's voice was a small price of admission. lol

The P-38 is an Open Top Slide, and is the progenitor of the Berretta 92s, which itself came from the Taurus of Brazil's first making the 92 under Beretta.
What I would suggest, is look for Beretta 92s with similar optics, and study HOW they've done it on that slide, and see how the Walther might compare, as to potential.
Might BE some P-38s out there with those sights mounted. See if you can find pics, gunsmith literature or listings OF gunsmiths who advertise such mountings in their menu of services.
If so, then hell yes, buy the aftermarket slide, have it professionally fitted, and milled.

I finished moving one compost pile to the garden where it will be tilled under, and I started moving/turning the other.
I also grafted two plum seedlings and we will see if I can get these to survive. It might get down to 27 tonight if we are not lucky, and that will freeze some of the buds

In Eastern Washington the farmers have permanent heaters and wind mills to distribute the heat in the orchards. I think they mostly run at night on propane. Not sure what happens when the have to rely on solar panels.

Neighbors have enough reason to be irritated with me about the compost heaps, no need to push it further.
I put in tomato cages and threw sheets over the grafted seedlings, the one big plum is just putting out blossoms, but hasn't bloomed completely. If some of them get frozen there should be some more.
My concern is it being too cold for the bees.

No, there is no test as to whether ballots are valid. All Mail in voting, with no signature verification... all you need to do is put in a postcard, with no ID, and you can vote.

And I do know about speed traps and the like, some true family horror stories as confirmed by Mom. Before the interstates, you drove through some very corrupt police jurisdictions, be it city, county, state. Back in the '40s, Mom told of towns on the main US route drag having town speeds of things like 18 miles per hour, after slowing down from maybe 45-50 on the highway. This was in the days of stick-shift tanks so good luck hitting and keeping 18 m.p.h.
Scene: Mom driving and pulled over going through a speed trap. GA rural podunk night court. Mom didn't have a licence. Dad pulled out his Panama drivers' license (Navy at Coco Solo, Panama Canal Zone); it was in Spanish. Dad told the court his license said that as long as the husband was in the car, the wife could drive. No one at the court could read Spanish (how far we've fallen) so . . . case dismissed. If the story was only from Dad I wouldn't believe it but Mom never disputed the story.

I understand. I feel that way about parts of Virginia, the state in which I grew up. Having D.C. commuter suburbs are a cancer to that state, affecting its elections due to the rather large government subsidized population, at good pay I might add, voting a certain Donkey party way. It is now just a part of the gelatinous mass called The Swamp. NO(rthern)VA used to be nice before the bureaucrats moved in.

Spent most of the day again in the hospital with my FIL. He got stents in one of his coronary arteries, now needs stent in the other two (in a couple of days).
Gonna spend more time tomorrow (today?) as a shift it to watch him for my BILs.

Btw - I know I am late on this old food thread issue, but it is acceptable to use the oven to make Italian meatballs - that's a way many restaurants do it. I do so, too, but I use muffin pans and grease them a little bit with either pork lard or something similar. I bake them at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes give or take. But do watch them to ensure they don't overcook or dry out.
