"Activist" Judge in Illinois Declares, On Her Sole Authority, that Half the Country Cannot Have the President They Want;
Supreme Court Agrees to Hear Trump Argument on Presidental Immunity

An "activist" judge has decided that he can rule, on her own authority, that Trump may not run for president in the state of Illinois.

A Cook County judge has ordered the removal of former President Donald Trump from Illinois' primary ballot, but has put her order on hold until Friday in anticipation of an appeal. The decision comes on the same day the Supreme Court agreed to take up consideration of Trump's presidential immunity in his January 6th case.

Key Details:

Cook County Circuit Court Judge Tracie Porter issued the ruling Wednesday, citing much of a similar ruling out of the Colorado Supreme Court called the state's "rationale compelling."

Porter immediately stayed her own ruling, writing that the "decision could not be the ultimate outcome" given expected appeals.

Trump's campaign has dismissed the ruling as "unconstitutional," slamming Porter as an "activist Democrat judge."

...

The State Board of Elections previously and unanimously rejected the same bid to block Trump from Illinois' ballot under the 14th Amendment last month, but Judge Porter found the board's decision to be "clearly erroneous."

sorosfundedballotmanipulation.jpg

The Supreme Court will dispense of this one when it rules on the others.

A judge has rejected Trump's motion to pause the enforcement of the half-billion dollar unconstitutionally excessive fine levied against him.

A New York judge has ruled that former President Trump must continue to pay a $454 million penalty in a civil fraud case, but granted a temporary pause on some restrictions, allowing Trump to apply for loans.

Key Details:

Justice Anil Singh denied Trump's request to pause the enforcement of $454 million in penalties but allowed loan applications and leadership positions in NY businesses.

Trump offered a $100 million bond during the appeal, stating that securing a bond for the full amount was "impossible."

The ruling is temporary, pending a full panel review of Trump's motion to delay payment.

Diving Deeper:

In a significant decision, Justice Anil Singh of the New York appellate division ruled against former President Donald Trump's request to stay the enforcement of over $454 million in penalties. These penalties were imposed in a civil fraud case for allegedly inflating his net worth to gain tax and insurance benefits. Trump's proposal to post a $100 million bond during the appeal process was part of an effort to address the challenge of securing a bond for the full penalty amount, which he claimed was unfeasible.

It's my opinion that this is so obviously outrageous and unconstitutional on its face the Supreme Court will hear a challenge to New York's law and this particular ruling, and will dispose of it. I think Trump right now is spamming out motions, because getting a Supreme Court review requires, as a first step, that you exhaust all possible avenues of legal relief in lower courts.

I'm not worried about this one. You cannot levy an unconstitutionally excessive fine which a defendant cannot pay and then say "We will not hear your appeal until you pay the unconstitutionally excessive fine you cannot pay." That is an obvious Catch-22, and basically just denying all due process to a defendant.

And this is on top of the obvious selective, partisan prosecution: Kathy Hochul has reassured all other land developers that this twisted application of the law will not apply to anyone except Donald Trump, and the partisan DEI AG is literally trolling Trump on Twitter by posting the daily interest increases to the fine, $114,000 per day.

So it is my suggestion as a Legal Expert (I am in the media; I am an expert in whatever is in the news this minute) that people relax a little about this one. Justice will be done.

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear Trump's argument that he has some degree of immunity for actions he took as president. I think he hurt his cause by claiming total immunity, but the Supreme Court doesn't have to find that he has absolute immunity. They can just find he has some.

Crucially, this delays the the DC prosecution for "insurrection" that the partisan liberal activist Democrat judge is speedrunning so that she can get Trump convicted before the election.

The Supreme Court of the United States will decide if former President Trump can be prosecuted on election interference charges.

On Wednesday, the SCOTUS said that it would hear arguments and issue a ruling on the immunity claim on April 22, resulting in the case being put on hold. This means no trial can take place.

According to the order, the case could take months to resolve.

A trial was initially set for March 4, however, Trump's case has been on pause while the former president pushes for an immunity appeal in the lower courts.

The order states that the court will decide "whether and if so to what extent a former president enjoy presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office.

The lesbian madwoman, the chinless dweeb, and the low-impulse control femmy meathead of course all melted down:

This is a great point from Bonchie: Now they're screaming that it is imperative that the trial be held as soon as impossible. (I meant to do that.)

But they had nothing to say when J6 political prisoners languished in jail without trial for two years!

Now, wait a second. I was assured that the election-related case against Trump was strictly non-political, presided over by a special prosecutor with only justice on his mind. Given that, why are the three horsemen of the apocalypse in the clip above having a mental breakdown over this? Why do they care about the timeline? They certainly weren't concerned about the January 6th defendants who sat around waiting two to three years for their trials to start.

Why, it's almost as if the entire point of this prosecution is to influence the election, and Maddow and her cohorts are upset it might not happen before November.

Are you sure these trials aren't just Politics By Other Means?

66 I am seriously starting to despair that anyone in power actually cares about the rule of law. How can these single individuals with the title Judge make law that affects the entire country. We used to make fun of Hawaiian judges but they were generally slapped down by the supreme court. Now we have activist Secretaries of State like in Maine deciding for the state who can compete in a National election. We have single judges in Colorado and now Illinois deciding who can be on the ballot. The fact tht Trump has never been convicted of any crime, let alone Insurrection, doesn;t enter into the decision.
this is a Federal manner because denying possible electoral college votes affects the entire nation.
The SC isn;t even addressing the amendment these leftists are citing, a crime for which Trump has not been convicted or even alleged to have done. Whether Trump has immunity does not resolve the question of whether these Judges have the right to do this in the first place.

I've seen a good bit of speculation that TPTB are pushing the "muh nuclear war" talk to divert people from growing restlessness over, literally, all their other policies.

The game has been reset, though. Sure, this might get overturned, but it has set new rules.

Do what the Party wants, or this happens. Even if you eventually "win," you're out staggering amounts of money and unquantifiable reputation. Comply or be run through the wringer. If you win, it's Pyrrhic as your bank accounts drain out and the pressure on your family likely becomes unbearable.

Ask General Flynn how this works. This is the game, and there is no upper limit.

Liberals in the media, for years now, have openly starred that even if Trump is found innocent on all charges, it's still a win because they've drained him and his co-defendants of hundreds of millions of dollars in legal fees.

Unless political prosecutors are held personally accountable for bringing bullshit charges, there will never be justice. There is never accountability, since if a liberal lawyer is found to have lied, manipulated evidence, or even committed serious crimes in other areas, the BAR will refuse to revoke their license, and they'll get a "Thank You" no show job at a Dem donor law firm. Laws need to be changed so that they can be stripped of every penny, and then jailed when they abuse their powers.

111 It's my opinion that this is so obviously outrageous and unconstitutional on its face the Supreme Court will hear a challenge to New York's law and this particular ruling, and will dispose of it.

I'm sticking to what I've believed since Roberts got the big seat. The Dem appointees will support whatever Dems want - in this case, a Trump ban. Barrett will follow whatever lead Roberts gives her.

So it all comes down to Roberts. And Roberts will fall whichever way embarrasses the Supreme Court the least. If Roberts thinks New York or Illinois will simply ignore him ? Then he'll side with Illinois and New York to save face for the Supreme Court in a 5-4 ruling. It's what he's done, consistently, since he's been there.

The President is--and must be--immune from criminal prosecution in furtherance of the duties of office.

As the chief executive, there are a whole lot of decisions that must be made that are against the law in the furtherance of his duties.

Stealing a candy bar is a criminal act but in furtherance of duties and would be subject to criminal prosecution.
Stealing a yacht from a private citizen of Russia because the President placed sanctions on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine is a criminal act not subject to prosecution.

Blaze News investigative journalist Steve Baker said the FBI wants him to self-surrender to the agency Friday morning in Dallas over his January 6 reporting.

Baker told Blaze News he's been instructed to turn himself in at the agency's field office at 7 a.m. wearing "shorts and sandals" — which he said signals that the plan likely is to go for "humiliation" and place him in an orange jumpsuit, handcuff him, and do the "prisoner transport routine."

He added that after he's taken to the Dallas courthouse, he'll appear at a 10 a.m. hearing before a federal magistrate.

160 I would argue they are pushing us to the brink of a dictatorship. They have every intention of skipping the "war" and have said as much. Remember, they have F15s and nukes.
Posted by: ...
=======
Most of the idiots pushing this don't understand because they have been poorly taught--the military will crumble and is poorly deployed to fight internally. We can and have projected power abroad because we have safe bases here. In a civil war, there are no safe bases and it is trivially easy to sabotage a jet aircraft with a mere bolt dropped into the engine by a mechanic pissed off that his kin have been obliterated.

Nukes are even more stupid in a civil war because your partisans are going to get fallout just the same as the bad 'uns and the bad 'uns are geographically dispersed while your partisans are centralized in cities dependent on those dispersed areas for food and power. Plus with the number of nukes around the US, chances are that some fall into the hands of the 'rebels' or defectors from your use of military force.

There is a reason that the USSR disintegration was largely peaceful and that is because of nukes distributed throughout the country.

Trump is going to lose the 2024 election trial or no. he's under performing in every primary...yes, he got 60% in Michigan but there's a reason 3/4 of the registered voters stayed home.

The Electoral Count Act is great but the current Republican party is committed to winning at all costs. Far too often those who are prepared to cheat actually win.

Roberts Kangaroo Court humiliates itself once again. Open your eyes people, this has never been about immunity, it has always been about delay. SCOTUS denied Smith's request for them to take the appeal back in December, but now they approve TFG's request - some crazy shit. Jack Smith's J6 trial is dead in the water.

It seems inevitable the MAGAt majority is not going to allow Trump to go to trial before November. THE COURT IS GOING TO LET TRUMP RUN OUT THE CLOCK. Court packing and paying off Supreme Court Justices works in stopping our democracy.

Courts should throw out vague laws. The executive branch shouldn't get to right regulation...at all. The legislature should write very specific laws that require no interpretation.

Arguing with a cop in the street is basically stupidity. Save your argument for court. What happened in this case was failure to comply with officer instructions to stop moving and not put your hands in your pockets and yes they are allowed to do that specifically per SCOTUS rulings for officer safety.

The cop did use excessive force as found by the court but the force continuum for cops is different than those for non-cops. Basically if your resistance is x--the cops are allowed to go to X+1 and each subsequent increase by you allows the cops to go higher in the force continuum. What happened in the case is the officer went to Defcon 2 from 5 instead of from 5 to 4.

Cops can even give you the full experience for being arrested-finger printing, booking, con pix, even if the underlying case is only a traffic ticket. See Atwater v. City of Lago Vista.

Oliver Stone did a 2016 documentary called "Ukraine on Fire" that details all the corruption and Nazi crap.

Someone recently created a new pro-corruption / pro-war documentary about Ukraine. Named it "Winter on Fire."

Really close names, eh? Weird how that works out. Also weird how when you search for "ukraine documentary" you get the new one, and if you'd heard about the old "on fire" movie you'd probably assume that's what you were about to watch.

I don't think Neeson will be able to play the role properly. He's serious and grim. Nelson could play serious but with comedic timing.

Just not the right match for the character.

Like when Steve Martin played Inspector Clouseu for the remake of the Pink Panther. His smart aleck comedy persona just didn't fit the role in the same way that Peter Sellers sincere, self-assured bumbling did.

Sub Neeson for Nielsen. Almost too perfect.

I mean it could be a totally hilarious thing except humor is dead. And the obvious "let's make him a parody of the Taken guy" has actually been done already by Neeson with the whole Taken as a snowplow driver deal

Utuber, Garand Thumb had an interesting video last week that featured two mercs discussing trench warfare and drones. I think there are a sizable number of contractor boots on the ground. Paid for by us. I suspect there is a significant NATO presence, but most likely at the command and control level.

355 There needs to be more instances of stripping qualified immunity, so that the dipshit asshole cops (the bad apples) stop doing the bullshit. Currently, they don't care because the police/cities will just settle with taxpayer money, and they will still have their jobs.
Posted by: Deplorable Ian Galt
======
Qualified immunity was more or less forced on Scotus because lawfare was making it dangerous for cops to do basic law enforcement without being bankrupted by deep pocket groups like Soros favors.

Most cops in UK actually do not WANT to carry firearms simply because they can be personally sued as well as fired. So quite a few get stabbed by knives etc. by perps as a result.

Basically, the term peace officer (of keeping the peace) evolved into law enforcement officers where the consideration was to force and charge people to comply with the multitude of stupid laws and regulations created by legislators at the local, state, and federal level. Good ones still ignore chickenshit charges, bad 'uns revel in playing "respect muh authoritah!!!!" and as a result, even law abiding citizens learn avoidance is the best strategy if possible with the criminal justice system.

369 Yeah, I'm pretty much never taking a cop's side in a dispute that involves breaking gamgam's jaw.

Yet, anytime you're in a mostly Republican discussion - there will constantly be at least one member that will tell you the victim of said enthusiastic cop simply wasn't "smart".

It's the equivalent of telling the rape victim she had it coming because of the short skirt. Or telling the abused wife that she simply should have kept the house more clean and made dinner on time. When it comes to cops - there is a certain subset of Republicans that will always defend them.

372 > GILF with big tits gets her jaw broken by Utah cop.

He shouldn't have hit her in the jaw. If you're going to do compliance strikes, especially on an older woman like that, do it to major muscle groups. Shoulder, thigh, stomach, butt, calf, etc are all major muscle groups that are somewhat painful when struck hard, but are not generally going to cause much injury.

It also seemed like the cop was getting a little hot during questioning. Telling her to calm down and calling the situation, "domestic violence" felt like the cop was trying to get some verbal jabs in. He wasn't necessarily doing anything obviously wrong, it just felt like the cop got a little frustrated and was jousting with her a bit.

I'm guessing the cop could have yanked her arms behind her, but was nervous this would hurt her. That extended the confrontation. Really his best bet would have been to sit on her for a few minutes and wait for backup. Then he could have got her in handcuffs with much less probability of injury.

Yes whig, and predicting the slutty girl has a higher chance of getting raped and the wife of the drunk who is a poor homemaker is probably going to get punched also doesn't exactly take a Sherlock Holmes. Yet - we don't excuse the rapist or the drunk, and we don't tell those victims they simply weren't "smart".

You're attempting a subtle defense of the cop. I'm not buying it.

Regular judges, not senior status ones, realize that pissing off the courts above can have long term effects on future cases. There are some judges that become so known to reviewing courts that the very name of the judge coming up to them means that they are probably going to reverse it.

Reinhardt of the 9th comes to mind among others.

Few weeks ago Russia hit an HQ and a hotel in Kharkov both with a bunch of French officers in them, one of whom was pretty politically connected. This might be what is behind Macron's sudden saber rattling.

I haven't heard what Stoltenberg has said in particular, but remember, NATO has no troops, and most NATO nations these days have no troops. And Russia already showed with the early 'volunteers' that they would put some missiles into the training camp even on the back corner of Ukraine to show what the war is like.

The US and NATO have been feeding satellite imaging and and targeting since day one. Recently they pretty much took over decision making entirely to avoid most of these "meat assaults" for the time being.

This has had interesting outcomes in the war, since prepping a major assault gives a big fat target. So they've been doing it differently. At Adievka, they initially cracked the line by discovering a drain pipe and sending picked forces deep behind the front line, then popping out and cutting a gap for reinforcements from the Russian lines. Ukraine reacted by sending reinforcements from other parts of the city, and Russia spotted this with their over watch and attacked the weak sector and broke in themselves. Soon thereafter the troops almost cut off broke and fled and the consequences of that are still going on.

Russians seem to figure that if we can't mass for one attack we will send small attacks all along the line and if you weaken any place too much, your line breaks.
