THE SATURDAY NIGHT JOKE

The following feature is unusual for a Saturday ONT.

The Quote of The Day

"In July, I had the same thing. My left boob, I box, and I tore my muscle, and my implant folded, and I had capsular contracture, and my implant tried to go through my shoulder, like through the tear,"Jersey Shore's Jenni "JWoww" Farley

Oh to be younger than 29 again. Or not.

Lying in a dark room while a sonographer spread cold jelly on my abdomen would have felt almost restful, if I hadn’t had a migraine coming on.

Somewhere outside, my car was parked on a random street, with all my worldly possessions in the boot.

Life as a digital nomad seems romantic, flexibly working from your laptop while travelling the world – no ties, no rent, no mortgage – but I was starting to understand the flipside.

I’d spent the last three days crashing with friends in the city I used to call home.

The answer to the question. Never!

How to Fall in Love With Boredom and Unlock Your Mental Toughness

astery is never an accident. You can win the lottery and become rich overnight, but no one has ever mastered their craft by chance. Whether we are talking about athletes, artists, or academics, the story is the same. If you want to fulfill your potential then you must practice a specific skill for a long time with remarkable consistency.

Paul Erdos, the fantastic mathematician, published over 1,500 papers before establishing himself as a thought leader.
Famous composers put in 10 years of under appreciated work before earning recognition.
Milo of Croton, the legendary Greek wrestler, picked up a young calf every day until he developed incredible strength.
Somehow, top performers in any craft figure out a way to fall in love with boredom, put in their reps, and do the work.

A former manager at a Largo Dunkin’ store has been arrested on a charge that she stole more than $153,000 from the business.

Molly Christine Cox, 50, is facing a felony grand theft charge. She was arrested on Thursday and booked at the Pinellas County Jail, where she was being held without bail on Friday.

Being a common man has it's advantages. Especially when it comes to marrying off a daughter.

Anant Ambani is getting married, and his father — Asia's richest man, Mukesh Ambani — is sparing no expense to celebrate the nuptials.

As the chair of the Fortune 500 company Reliance Industries, the elder Ambani has an estimated net worth of $111 billion, according to Bloomberg's Billionaires Index. That makes him the richest person in Asia and the 11th-richest person in the world.

The younger Ambani is set to wed Radhika Merchant, the daughter of Encore Healthcare CEO Viren Merchant, in July. The couple's three-day pre-wedding party starts on Friday in Gujarat, India.

Here's everything we know about the festivities.

91 78 A wiretapped conversation of German officers planning a cruise missile strike on the vital Kerch Bridge between Crimea and the Russian mainland was released. Waiting to see how far the German government will walk this back.

One thing that the conversation made clear (if it wasn't obvious already) is that the longer-range missile strikes on Russia use NATO missiles which use targeting information provided by NATO intelligence assets. The only Ukrainian in the loop is the guy who pushes the button to launch the missile.

113 When a government has ceased to protect the lives, liberty and property of the people, from whom its legitimate powers are derived, and for the advancement of whose happiness it was instituted, and so far from being a guarantee for the enjoyment of those inestimable and inalienable rights, becomes an instrument in the hands of evil rulers for their oppression.

When the Federal Republican Constitution of their country, which they have sworn to support, no longer has a substantial existence, and the whole nature of their government has been forcibly changed, without their consent, from a restricted federative republic, composed of sovereign states, to a consolidated central military despotism, in which every interest is disregarded but that of the army and the priesthood, both the eternal enemies of civil liberty, the everready minions of power, and the usual instruments of tyrants.

115 When, long after the spirit of the constitution has departed, moderation is at length so far lost by those in power, that even the semblance of freedom is removed, and the forms themselves of the constitution discontinued, and so far from their petitions and remonstrances being regarded, the agents who bear them are thrown into dungeons, and mercenary armies sent forth to force a new government upon them at the point of the bayonet.

When, in consequence of such acts of malfeasance and abdication on the part of the government, anarchy prevails, and civil society is dissolved into its original elements. In such a crisis, the first law of nature, the right of self-preservation, the inherent and inalienable rights of the people to appeal to first principles, and take their political affairs into their own hands in extreme cases, enjoins it as a right towards themselves, and a sacred obligation to their posterity, to abolish such government, and create another in its stead, calculated to rescue them from impending dangers, and to secure their future welfare and happiness.

116 Nations, as well as individuals, are amenable for their acts to the public opinion of mankind. A statement of a part of our grievances is therefore submitted to an impartial world, in justification of the hazardous but unavoidable step now taken, of severing our political connection with the Mexican people, and assuming an independent attitude among the nations of the earth.

The Mexican government, by its colonization laws, invited and induced the Anglo-American population of Texas to colonize its wilderness under the pledged faith of a written constitution, that they should continue to enjoy that constitutional liberty and republican government to which they had been habituated in the land of their birth, the United States of America.

In this expectation they have been cruelly disappointed, inasmuch as the Mexican nation has acquiesced in the late changes made in the government by General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, who having overturned the constitution of his country, now offers us the cruel alternative, either to abandon our homes, acquired by so many privations, or submit to the most intolerable of all tyranny, the combined despotism of the sword and the priesthood.

It incarcerated in a dungeon, for a long time, one of our citizens, for no other cause but a zealous endeavor to procure the acceptance of our constitution, and the establishment of a state government.

It has failed and refused to secure, on a firm basis, the right of trial by jury, that palladium of civil liberty, and only safe guarantee for the life, liberty, and property of the citizen.

It has suffered the military commandants, stationed among us, to exercise arbitrary acts of oppression and tyrrany, thus trampling upon the most sacred rights of the citizens, and rendering the military superior to the civil power.

It has dissolved, by force of arms, the state Congress of Coahuila and Texas, and obliged our representatives to fly for their lives from the seat of government, thus depriving us of the fundamental political right of representation.

It has demanded the surrender of a number of our citizens, and ordered military detachments to seize and carry them into the Interior for trial, in contempt of the civil authorities, and in defiance of the laws and the constitution.

123 It denies us the right of worshipping the Almighty according to the dictates of our own conscience, by the support of a national religion, calculated to promote the temporal interest of its human functionaries, rather than the glory of the true and living God.

It has demanded us to deliver up our arms, which are essential to our defence, the rightful property of freemen, and formidable only to tyrannical governments.

It has invaded our country both by sea and by land, with intent to lay waste our territory, and drive us from our homes; and has now a large mercenary army advancing, to carry on against us a war of extermination.

It has, through its emissaries, incited the merciless savage, with the tomahawk and scalping knife, to massacre the inhabitants of our defenseless frontiers.

It hath been, during the whole time of our connection with it, the contemptible sport and victim of successive military revolutions, and hath continually exhibited every characteristic of a weak, corrupt, and tyrranical government.

Posted by: Catch Thirty-Thr33 at March 02, 2024 10:46 PM (8sMut)

124 These, and other grievances, were patiently borne by the people of Texas, untill they reached that point at which forbearance ceases to be a virtue. We then took up arms in defence of the national constitution. We appealed to our Mexican brethren for assistance. Our appeal has been made in vain. Though months have elapsed, no sympathetic response has yet been heard from the Interior.

We are, therefore, forced to the melancholy conclusion, that the Mexican people have acquiesced in the destruction of their liberty, and the substitution therfor of a military government; that they are unfit to be free, and incapable of self government.

The necessity of self-preservation, therefore, now decrees our eternal political separation.

125 We, therefore, the delegates with plenary powers of the people of Texas, in solemn convention assembled, appealing to a candid world for the necessities of our condition, do hereby resolve and declare, that our political connection with the Mexican nation has forever ended, and that the people of Texas do now constitute a free, Sovereign, and independent republic, and are fully invested with all the rights and attributes which properly belong to independent nations; and, conscious of the rectitude of our intentions, we fearlessly and confidently commit the issue to the decision of the Supreme arbiter of the destinies of nations.

158 The guy with the stuck plastic buckets sure has a LOT of Japanese Bonsai trees! What does he need all those buckets for? You could water a whole national forest of Bonsais with ONE bucket.

The pet raccoon is incredibly cute. You're not supposed to keep coons as pets, though, unless it's a wildlife rescue center. There's a big cat in the background, & it seems perfectly fine with sharing a house with a raccoon.

Bought a folding table at Wal-mart and brought it home. Couldn't figure out how to set it up. Went to YouTube, found a vid about 4 years old posted by some guy. There was one thing the vid didn't explain, and I left a comment. I had the table packed up ready to return to Wal-mart. A few hours later, the YouTuber responded to me and explained exactly where to look for the doo-hickey. I got the table set up and it's living happily ever after next to my window.

I've found all kinds of fix-its for sewing machines, Ford Tauruses, and other old things I use from time to time.

Quite a few podcasters of differing political stripes are saying this is such an incredibly dangerous period. Let's not forget CBS confiscating, later 'returning', Catherine Herridge's notes when she was fired/laid off. One can bet CBS made sure to make copies of her notes thereby burning every source she ever had.

We are living in very perilous times where the Dems and all their global commie WEF motherfucking allies are making their final grab for permanent power. Trump not only must go, but must go permanently away, preferably broke, too.

I've also heard a few more righty podcasters call it what it is: Communism. They also include all the communism lite words, too. It's probably why the They hate Putin. Russia may be under a strong-man dictatorship but it is not a commie one. But this is what we are experiencing, Communism 101, no other way or word to describe it: The destruction of our Nation from within, which can be very hard for some to accept as fact.

Those microwave popcorn things read like a chemistry set. I like the cheapest white small kernal corn usually. Fresh, not too fresh. Dry light and crispy w/ coconut oil. Doesn’t need butter, but it is righteous on top.

Heh. Helium is an end-product of radioactive decay. Not sure if the series starts with uranium or thorium, or both. Its source is the radioactive decay of those elements incorporated into heavy minerals the occur as accessory grains in ancient granites. Usually, it filters up through the rock column above it, and enters the atmosphere, to be subsequently lost into outer space. In some places the overlying rock has impermeable layers sufficiently tight to contain it, and layers of sandstone or other porous rock with enough pore space to contain commercial quantities. Helium is usually found as a minor constituent of natural gas.

I seem to throw this quote up every week now:

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under of robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber barons cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some points be satiated; but those who torment us for their own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. The CIA is not part of the ruling elite. They are the ruling elite.

Think about this statement by Chuck Schumer at the height of the Russia collusion idiocy, which not so coincidentally was run by the CIA.

>>Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you. So, even for a practical, supposedly hard-nosed businessman, he's being really dumb to do this.

Trump was the duly elected President of the United States at the time and Schumer was proudly, and stupidly, telling the world the intel community was more powerful than he was. Because they are.

That is what we are up against. Politicians who play ball with the intel community like Biden get all kinds of protection. The who fight against them get the weight of the government and their partners in the media against them.

The intel community has been running this country for a very long time.

Hear, hear! Been saying this for a long time. When I was in college (early 90's), some waterhead gave me an English language version of Mao's 'Little Red Book.' What struck me on reading it was that it was less a communist manifesto and more a blueprint for economic domination. It was basically a business plan with the occasional "Marx Lenin glorious workers paradise blah blah" tossed in once in a while to keep the Soviets off his back. Or so it seemed to college-age me. Haven't read it again since.

222 It's not in Israel's interest for Gaza's population to starve to death, or to endure famine.

Israel never intended to STARVE the Hamas terrorists to death, as if the IDF operation was intended to be some kind of medieval siege.

Getting food into Gaza is in Israel's interest, even though a lot of will go to Hamas. Getting food in will take some of the international pressure off Israel. Anyone believe Hamas wasn't already stockpiling food during the last truce anyway? Or that it won't be doing so again during the next truce, which may be imminent?

Again, Israel intends to kill the terrorists or force them to surrender. Starving them out isn't part of their strategy.

228 Hear, hear!

I argue that China has simply gone back to the Imperial Model that served them well for the last 2300 years. Remember that the Chinese Imperial Model always included a vast bureaucracy that micromanaged all economic activity in the Empire. In their model, old and new, you can earn money any way you like, you can become as rich as you like, but remember - everything you own is yours only because the Beneficent and Wise Emperor allows you to have it, and he can demand it from you at any time he chooses. In fact, the lives of the subjects are only theirs because the Emperor allows it, and he can ask for those at any time he chooses as well.

Would you agree that starving the Hamas terrorists into submission isn't part of the Israeli strategy?

It would take too long; there would be too much collateral damage; and Israel can't sustain a prolonged war at the current level for a prolonged period of time.

In WW II, Germany's food production minister (Speer's counterpart), said, "If Germany is going to starve, we're going to be at the end of a very long line!" Hamas fighters are at the end of a very long line too.

The West likes the lie that all Palestinians are not Hamas. Egypt has built a huge wall and is vehement about not letting any Palestinians across their order because the Egyptians say "Oh hell yes they are all Hamas, we know those guys better than anyody!'

But the argument for tossing them food is that it's Hamas strategy to cause as many civilian deaths as possible to try to whip up support for them in the middle east and Europe, and throwing in some cans of dog food seems like a small price to pay to foil their hopes and dreams.

yes, I agree that it's not part of their strategy. Letting the areas they've overrun starve would cause them far more trouble than help, and it would not shorten the war because Hamas *wants* all those civilians to die. I would go so far as to say that one of the few mistakes the IDF has made is not setting up some form of administration in the areas they've overrun, because it's never good or wise to leave chaos in your rear areas; it breeds guerilla groups and makes you fight for the same territory twice.

But this war only ends when they take Rafah, and eliminate Hamas leadership entirely.

If that story is completely true, it is also quite odd. Hard rock miners drilling diamond drill holes in search of mineral resources almost never think to analyze returning drill fluid for gases. In fact the technology to do it was never commonplace. The oilfield has used spectrographs to analyze drilling mud returns for many decades; I used to do that job myself. But it was never considered to be worthwhile on hard rock mineral prospects.

Question foremost in my mind: is the helium present in porosity in the formation, and producible simply by drilling into it and perforating the casing, or is it bound up in microporosity in crystalline rock, which must be broken or crushed to liberate the helium?

Helium is like any other gas: hot, cold, or in between. Our Sun has lots of helium in it (hence the name, eh?) and it's not even slightly chilly. Helium has the lowest boiling point of any element, but you have to expend a lot of effort an energy to make liquid helium.

I Do Not CARE.

1. Pork is almost always strictly Haram (forbidden) the to the muslim. Yeah, hadith allows the imam to give permission to eat pork in times of duress. I do not care. MAKE THEM EAT PORK!

2. Smithfield Farms is now a wholly owned Chinese concern. Their "farms" here, send slaughtered pork TO China, where their butchers (at low labor costs), break it down "U.S. Style", and then package and ship it back here. Every POUND of Smithfield Farms, HURTS a real AMERICAN farmer.

3. Raise prices? Like they've not done just that under Bidenomics? Fuck That. I'll keep buying Blue Ribbon Bacon. Their plant is less that 200 miles from me, and Bum Phillips was their spokesman. Good enough for me!

yeah that is a really hard universe to jump into. I can just say that almost everything you objected to in your first post, it's all out of Herbert's book. 310 Re "coldest substance".

You can cool anything down as a cold as you want (well, various reactions might happen with compounds). This "coldest substance" business refers to the temperature which it is easily maintained out.

You have a cryogenic liquid. It is boiling off (hopefully slowly), and thus is maintaining that boiling point temperature.

Liquid helium is the coldest boiling point of all these liquefied gases at -452F. Liquid H2 is -423F, and you can look up all the others.

Liquid helium is also a superfluid.

I don't know. I have just found this:

245 The West likes the lie that all Palestinians are not Hamas.

Now, I've got a OpenVPN tunnel to my mother's house, so I can remote access her computers and fix shit, and manage the network there.

To get the EHAbz hash, I simply remoted to her machine via the tunnel, and posted here from that which went through her WAN IP address.

I thought about turning off the Wifi on the stupid phone, going to the cell data network, and posting from there, giving me yet a third hash, but I was too lazy do that, as I would've had to copy and paste and type on the stupid phone, which I hate.

353 I have had better hashes, but at least this one is my Very Own.

Saves me some effort, too.

I'm posting from Mama's computer, again. I didn't know what the hash was going to be from there (I upgraded her router as well, during the process), hence the (xxxxx) I used.

But now, I know it's EHAbz
