Got a Zoom call to deal with this am, with the budget people. I'm puzzled as to why some of their salary numbers -- well, a lot of 'em -- look different from mine. A lot of the recipients, we were told, were supposed to get a 3.5% raise; but a number of them in the budget software clearly have had a 4%. For the life of me I don't know why I should care, except the puzzle guy in my brain wants to know the answer to the mystery.

My bank has screwed up there on-line website and I can't see the credit card transactions any more. And I got the same message from them when I complained. Why does it take weeks and weeks to fix the problem, see the response above.

Comparing TSMC's 12nm and 6nm processes, they went from 33.8 million transistors per square millimeter, to 114.2 million.

So while the numbers are just names and don't measure anything specific about the chips, they are pretty accurate in relative terms. 6nm should in theory be four times as dense as 12nm, and the real ratio is about 3.4.

Mini pc has 6mb ram. Get a lot of herky jerky vid on yt and slow response on loading web pages. Took a look at ram usage, saw 4.x mb out of 6.x in use. So why wouldn't things run smoothly? Only one or two tabs open. Vids show buffering is ahead of the playing time, but I get the spinning circle and a black screen for a few seconds. Is it my computer, or the signal from the internet provider? Have high speed internet and at least 200 plus mb of memory available. Used wifi connection, but added cat 6 network cable to computer, but nothing changed.

Totally unwanted stuff, but your smart phone won't work smoothly without it.

Bought a throwaway smart phone for vacation in the summer. Easier to use for needs. Went in and turned off all google crap. Browser won't pop up the keyboard. Finally found out a certain google widget must be active to get the keyboard to work. Even if you don't want to use their stuff, you're stuck with it to get the phone to work.

I only have a few programs on it. Most of the memory is taken up by Win patches and updates. But, it's a small capacity memory, that's why I'm thinking of either adding some or getting a new comp with more memory. I just don't want to have too much and Win 11 uploads itself. Don't want Win 11 from all I've read about it.
