Biden's Miracle Economy is so great that fast food restaurants are trying to figure out ways to disguise the Bidenflation. Wendy's is now experimenting with having variable prices, with food costing more during peak hours. Though they don't say this, they're doing this so that only people coming in during the lunch and dinner rushes will be hit with the full freight of Biden's hyperinflation. It's an attempt to mitigate customer anger.

DNC Front Group CNN:

The price of a Wendy's Frosty could soon fluctuate throughout the day as the chain looks to introduce Uber-like surge pricing on its menu.

The practice, known as "dynamic pricing," will begin testing in 2025, Wendy's recently revealed in an earnings call. It's part of a $20 million investment in new digital menu boards at its US restaurants that enable them to change prices depending on demand.

Few details were released about the change, but Wendy's CEO Kirk Tanner said the new menus will let the fast food chain test "more enhanced features like dynamic pricing and day-part offerings along with AI-enabled menu changes and suggestive selling."

"We expect our digital menu boards will drive immediate benefits to order accuracy, improve crew experience and sales growth from upselling and consistent merchandising execution," Tanner said on the call.

In a statement Wednesday, Wendy's clarified that "dynamic pricing" will include new menus that could offer discounts at slower times of the day, denying the company will raise prices during peak demand.

Thus, people who are of very limited means and are therefore especially vulnerable to Biden's Predatory Inflation can partly mitigate it by rearranging their eating times.

Another serial plagiarist detected, this time at Columbia University:

The chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer of Columbia University's medical school, Alade McKen, plagiarized extensively in his doctoral dissertation, lifting entire pages of material, without attribution, from sources that include Wikipedia, according to a complaint submitted to the university on Wednesday.

The allegations implicate approximately a fifth of McKen's 163-page dissertation, "'UBUNTU' I am because we are: A case study examining the experiences of an African-centered Rites of Passage program within a community-based organization," submitted to Iowa State University's School of Education in 2021. More than two of those pages are a near-verbatim facsimile of Wikipedia's entry on "Afrocentric education," which is not cited anywhere in the dissertation.

Other pages lift paragraphs from well-known African scholars, including the University of Rwanda's Chika Ezeanya-Esiobu, while making small tweaks to their prose, such as reordering certain clauses or changing a "were" to a "was."

Some of the scholars McKen allegedly plagiarized appear in the dissertation's bibliography but not in in-text citations. Others, like Ezeanya-Esiobu, an expert on "indigenous knowledge" who has worked with numerous international agencies, including the World Bank, aren't cited at all.

"The passages you shared can definitely be classified as plagiarism," Ezeanya-Esiobu told the Washington Free Beacon. McKen lifts pages worth of material from Ezeanya-Esiobu's 2019 chapter "A Faulty Foundation: Historical Origins of Formal Education Curriculum in Africa," published in the Frontiers in African Business Research book series.

Yes, he's black.

It seems that a lot of black "scholars" are being passed up the ranks through Social Promotion, never actually expected to Read or Write at Grade Level.

Delaying the January 6 trial suppresses critical evidence that Americans deserve to hear. Donald Trump attempted to overturn an election and seize power. Our justice system must be able to bring him to trial before the next election. SCOTUS should decide this case promptly.

Mediaite:

President Joe Biden's appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers did not score a ratings win for the NBC program, particularly with younger viewers.

The Monday night interview with the president brought in some 852,000 average total viewers and 181,000 viewers in the 25-54 age demographic, according to Nielsen Media Research. The demo viewership marked a 32 percent drop compared to the same day last year, which tracks with the show's already declining demo viewership for the year -- down some 10 percent year to date.

Sam Bankman-Fried is asking for a shorter prison term,
citing his autism.

Betcha he'll be granted a sentence reduction!

He also makes a crazy argument that he didn't lose-lose $8 billion in client funds, claiming that was just a "temporary liquidity issue." Now, of course, $8 billion was lost, but he's claiming that the losses only became losses-losses after control of the company was wrested from his corrupt clutches.

Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) now faces a potential sentencing far below the recommended duration, as his lawyers argue for a prison term of just 5 to 7 years. This plea comes in light of his autism diagnosis, which they propose should be a mitigating factor in his sentencing for fraud convictions related to the collapse of FTX.

SBF's legal team has mounted a defense arguing that the prosecution's portrayal of a massive $8 billion loss to customers is misleading. They claim this figure represents a temporary liquidity shortfall rather than actual financial losses, a situation exacerbated by a surge in withdrawal requests in November 2022. This argument is bolstered by recent statements from a bankruptcy attorney for FTX, suggesting that full repayment to customers and creditors is likely, challenging the narrative of irreversible financial damage.

I'm having trouble believing that. I haven't heard any of his victims expressing new hope that they're getting their money back.

Uhhh... TANSTAAFL comes into play. If you lower prices at one time, you have to pick up those costs, at another time, ergo you would have higher prices then. This only works if you can pull new customers in, from other fast food joints.

Let's face it, all African related scholarship is pretty much the same thing. Namely, Africa is a train wreck because of the white man, so it's gonna be hard to detect plagiarism because everybody is singing from the same hymnal.

82 The ftx payment to creditors thing is true if confusing.

Your claim in bankruptcy is fixed as of the petition date. That was November of 2022 for ftx. Crypto was at a low at the time. But whatever value you had in your account with ftx (let's say 19 coins at 10 bucks a piece for a value of 100), that's your claim.

Whatever crypto and assets were left in Nov 22 probably weren't enough to cover that hypothetical 100 dollar claim. But, since crypto has increased in value, as of today the ftx assets are enough (supposedly anyway) to cover the 100 claim on the petition date.

Of course, that money has been frozen and inaccessible to the ftx creditors all this time and will remain so until distributions are made under the bankruptcy plan, and more importantly it's somewhere between doubtful and unclear as to whether they will get any of the increase in crypto value since Nov 22 or just whatever value they had on the bankruptcy petition date.

Thought being a "RINO" gave him two majority governments but an awful lot was reaction against Trudeau Sr. and several errors, including sucking off Quebec to keep them from separating and trying to turn lib-left Quebec into a political base, failed, pissing off real conservatives [like me!] that led to the P.C.s getting wiped out to be replaced by the Reform Party and then the current Conservative Party of Canada [that still has lots of "RINOs" too].

Food prices also doubled in the Late Roman Empire and people were getting upset and restive. The government decided to debase their currency to give the citizens bread and circuses. The empire fell not too long after that. We are not too far from the point.

While the Romans physically debased their currency by using progressively less gold and silver in the official coins, we are doing the same by flooding the economy with ever more printed dollars. The end result will be the same.

221 Stuff via PjMedia to give JackStraw an erection:

A new Harvard CAPS/Harris poll recently asked, "Do you think Donald Trump is someone who will shake up the country for the better or do you think he is a danger to democracy and will hopelessly divide the country if elected?"

A shocking — and walloping — 65% of Gen Zers polled said Trump would shake things up for the better, while 35% thought him to be a "danger to democracy."

Every age group except those 65 years and older believes Trump will shake things up for the good, but the Gen Z group went in for Trump by the largest margin.

The good news is that Gen Z has always been expected to pull the donkey lever, and seeing a poll like this gives us hope for the future. The not-so-good news is that these whipper-snappers are the least likely to vote.

Are you sitting down? The poll also shows that Democrats are warming up to Trump. Twenty-nine percent of Democrats surveyed said they either "somewhat" or "strongly" approve of "the job that Donald Trump did as president." This is up from 14% from a poll taken at the three-year mark of Trump's presidency in January 2020.

249 202 Attention Hoser Morons: Former Progressive Conservative Prime Minister, Brian Mulroney, has died. [Yes, that was the name of the conservatives' party here due to the 1920's progressives joining in -- I think Teddy Roosevelt was one too].

He was P.M. during the Reagan-Bush Sr. years.

We call the red Tories or Pink Tories for the worst ones, BTW.

No ill will on my part to his family I'd add.

It's a cheaper alternative to vegetable oil. Made from rapeseed maybe? Pretty much interchangeable but probably less healthy in a scenario where you're already doing something fairly unhealthy.

All things in moderation.

258 Poor Things 2023

From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone comes the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter's protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

This is probably really bad though the plot gives it a chance to be Rochelle, Rochelle.

269 "challenging the narrative of irreversible financial damage"

My Grandfather had an insurance policy in the Hindenburg. Nobody made sure he read the provision where the policy wasn't payable in case of fire.

Bravely, my Grandfather challenged the narrative of the Hindenburg disaster. It must have been penguins, he said. As proof of this, he showed the court a picture of a penguin.

Long story short, they paid him and I'm still living off the proceeds. In light of this, you can't blame SBF for trying.
