These young birds are often seen trying to fornicate with anything that has a temperature over the ambient, and frequently injure themselves and the objects of their affections with ghastly results.
It was long before the Spaniards could conquer their repugnance to the penguin. A frequent native mode of cooking the penguin is to boil it, taking out the leaves of fat, which are melted and clarified, and put into a calabash or dish, into which they dip the flesh of the penguin as they eat it. Got a Border Collie shortly after my ex and I were married. A wonderful, super-intelligent doggeh...but oh boy what a lot of work. We both had to work at the time and that's just not any kind of situation to subject an animal like this to. We finally (and sadly) worked very hard to find him a proper new home on a farm. New owners allowed us to come visit from time to time. He was in pooch heaven on earth and it turned out to be a great decision.

Christopher F. Rufo ⚔️ @realchrisrufo 6h
I've obtained documents alleging that Harvard DEI administrator Shirley Greene plagiarized more than 40 passages in her PhD thesis, making her the third black woman at Harvard to be accused of academic fraud. Harvard's plagiarism crisis is spinning out of control. Greene is a Title IX coordinator affiliated with the Office for Gender Equity. She has worked to advance "Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging," and hosted a panel on "The Past, Present, and Future of Juneteenth" with the DEI department. The Harvard Crimson previously downplayed the allegations against Greene, but I have obtained the full plagiarism complaint that paints a much more damning indictment of Greene’s scholarship than the student newspaper had let on. In the dissertation, Greene lifts multiple passages directly from Janelle Lee Woo’s 2004 dissertation, "Chinese American Female Identity." In one section, Greene copied words, phrases, and nearly entire paragraphs verbatim, without proper attribution or quotation. Posted by: andycanuck (2yu8s) at February 22, 2024 07:54 PM (2yu8s) 28
Christopher F. Rufo ⚔️ @realchrisrufo 6h
In addition, Greene lifted an entire table on "Racial/Ethnic Identity Development Models," a foundational concept in the paper, without proper attribution to Woo. This appears to be a flagrant violation of Harvard's plagiarism policy. In total, the complaint identifies dozens of such passages in Greene's dissertation, ranging from minor infringements to what appears to be outright theft of concepts and language. Harvard's policy is quite clear: "If you copy language word for word from another source and use that language in your paper, you are plagiarizing verbatim." http://tinyurl.com/3bu7hm6c Posted by: andycanuck (2yu8s) at February 22, 2024 07:54 PM (2yu8s) 29

Judge Engoron says a Trump commercial property that brings in ~$200M a year in rent is only worth $40M. That is only 1/5th annual (assumed) gross revenue.
Trump said it was worth ~800M, twenty years (assumed) gross rent may be a optimistic. Bringing it down to more common values, say a residental rental going for $2500 a month, $30,000 a year, and $600,000 over twenty years... which may be high but a hell of lot more realistic than declaring that unit only worth $6,000 as Engoron would claim. Not being able to find ScotchGuard stain repellent I went to the trustworthy internet in search of said item. I found it but only in mass quantities and am, after the included statement, not sure it's the same trustworthy stuff.
--- 3M to Discontinue Some Scotchgard Repellent Products May 17, 2000 12 AM PT_armpit_WaPo 3M Co. announced Tuesday it would stop making many of its well-known Scotchgard stain-repellent products after finding that one of the chemical compounds used to make the products persists in the environment and is found in the bloodstream of people worldwide. The substance, perfluorooctane sulfonate, is released in minute quantities by products as various as water-repellent coatings and fire-suppressing foams. It is made almost entirely by 3M, the huge St. Paul-based firm known formally as Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Co. Studies have not demonstrated any hazards to human health from the compound, known as PFOS. Like many synthetic compounds, however, it has proved toxic to laboratory animals at high doses. Ah ha, the truth will out, it was the EPA what pressured 3M to stop making ScotchGuard. (be they still donate to Dems). Big expose' news outlet Floor Daily published the dirty laundry.
--->Scotchgard's journey back to the market has been rocky, and the stain repellent is still missing from the furniture upholstery industry. 3M Co.'s line of fabric protectants has been struggling since the Environmental Protection Agency pressed 3M in 2000 to stop using the chemistry behind the spray, according to the Saint Paul Pioneer Press. 3M, which has lost two-thirds of its former $300 million-a-year Scotchgard business, hopes to rebuild it to $500 million by 2008. Finally finished with its phase-out and armed with a new formula it says is safe and better than ever, 3M is launching major Scotchgard replacements this summer, marketing them like new products. ------------ Not going to research any further. If anyone has opinion on stain repellents it would be appreciated. Posted by: Braenyard at February 22, 2024 09:00 PM (IdKcu) 108

Senator William Proxmire (D) Wisconsin, may be most responsible for killing NASA.
It isn’t well known, but the cavernous VAB or vertical assembly building at the cape could hold 4 Saturn V rockets. The plan was to continue over 100 launches. They killed it after 11, the other two are on display, something like that. The plan was for a crewed Mars landing during the 1984 - 1986 launch window. It takes a couple years to get to Mars, but it takes even longer depending on the orbital phase. They spent the next 50 years begging rides into orbit from the Russians, flying a brick aka “shuttle”. 60 years later they are recreating the Surveyor program, and soon - in a couple more years - they will recreate Apollo 8 - 1968 Pretty damn sad.
