Funny thing I was reading this morning is that some restaurants (in Australia for example) went the opposite route and vaccinated people were not allowed in. Fear of vaccine shedding was the reason.
But shedding only seems to occur when you create an actual vaccine from a weakened virus. I guess we'll find out for sure eventually.

Walmart heckled you, but if you walked past the greeter without acknowledging, they didn't track you down and bother you. I had a letter from my doctor, saying wearing the things would give me vertigo, that I flashed as often as necessary.
One "security" guard at one store had the nerve to tell me she thought the letter was a fake. I told her, "Say goodbye to your job," and complained to the management of that store and the home location describing the event. Strangely enough, the guards were gone the next week.

I recall with a grim fondness the manager of an auto parts store who refused even to look at my letter and kept hassling me rudely to leave. I wrote to the regional manager of the store chain, and had the satisfaction of the RM *calling me on the phone* to apologize. "I reviewed the video tape, and what you said is exactly what happened." He promised he would put the manager (who had his own face diaper pulled down throughout our encounter!) and his staff through a long retraining session on how to deal properly with customers.
Doesn't matter in the long run if he actually did that. I asserted myself and caused some waves. Good enough.

Early one, somebody got arrested for intentionally sneezing on some grocery item and that raised the hysteria level even higher. I can still picture my daughter in her garage wiping off every grocery item she had purchased with disinfectant. The whole scam sent a lot of otherwise normal people into a really bad place.

I did not see too much insanity (beyond the norm.) Except for people at work freaking out just before lock down. The masks were most of my observation. I remember walking Ajax on a perfect spring day and seeing an elderly couple on the other side of the street, both masked. People wearing masks in their car.

We had a minor emergency on my block a while ago (overturned fuel tanker ruptured), and mostly people acted together with police and fire to get everyone evacuated as quick as possible. As cleanup efforts finished up, we had to get our houses cleared before we could go in... fair enough, I'll let the guy with the gas meter hop into my basement that may or may not have been flooded with gasoline and diesel, and test it out for free. But everyone else was desperate to get inside their home, and so instead of just saying whatever and going into their homes quietly in spite of orders, they swarmed the poor exhausted bastards organizing the testing and turned the whole affair into a complete shit show.
People can be impressive, and then be completely disgusting, within the same twelve hour period.

Americans believed they lived in a country with free speech up until a few years ago but in reality we don't. They even went after POTUS for suggesting alternative therapies like ivermectin.

I can see how this would be the case for people in california or New Jersey. But for me I was robbed of maybe 2 months. By summer 2020 my life was 95% the same as pre-Corona. Other than having to wear a mask in some stores and govt buildings and things like that, my life was no different. Kids were in school, everything was open, etc.

Just in passing, but it's worth pointing out, that in fact the couple of studies that were done showed that the 6' spacing did *nothing* to stop the spread of anything; and they were quickly suppressed because of that. Spacing would have had to been 25' or more to have been effective. It was done because it was a quick, easy rule to impose, and it would make people *think* something was being done even though in fact it did nothing.
It was obedience theater, nothing more, and everyone imposing it knew that.

Cat Stevens was the second rock show that I saw when but a wee teen. (the first was the Who(!) for $4 tix). Anywho(!), I was a fan.
I still am, of his music from that period. And i've made my peace with his idiocy in not buying anything else of his but listening to what I have. He ain't making any money off of that.
I honestly think that he lost his mind around the time of "Foreigner" a lousy album by any measure, when he was a the top of his popularity. I don't think he could achieve whatever musical greatness he was striving for and it broke him.
His "comeback" album, "Buddha and the Chocolate Box" with some good song but on others the supporting music is just a mess. Like something a schizophrenic would write.
CS became a muslim shortly after that IIIRC. And though his music still sucked and degraded further, I suppose for him it meant something more.

I did discover online ordering and curbside delivery at. Grocery store. Just recently I read they needed volunteers at the Raptor Rescue Center near new home. They said "must be vaccinated" fuck them. Gees.
I told friends I would not go to restaurants with them if I had to wear a mask. One time I walked up with them and the hostess said "masks". I said "have fun" and left. NEVER FORGET.

I think an amazing number of people were convinced that their lives were in terrible danger unless they followed rules didn't understand to save them from a risk they didn't have a clue about.
a lot of the shit they put out about covid was exceptionally stupid and had no basis in reality so no one could understand it, and few people had the guts to say "screw it" and most of those weren't willing to get fired or arrested for non compliance
