The Fake Morning Report Because Of A Cheese Curd Incident

Bidenstamp.jpg
[Hat Tip: JM]

Well, you'll have to suffer my links instead of Sefton's actual, real, well-thought-out, grown-up news links. He had a cheese-curd accident (really, an explosion), and coupled with that sh*tty fake Manhattan that Wisconsinites drink, it was a near thing. But he will be back, better than ever, after the grafts heal.

Great news for jewells.

If anything I'm more optimistic about our politics than I have been in a long time. For years, decades, we have been sleepwalking toward tyranny without even knowing it. We kept thinking if we just elected the right candidate from the choices we were given somehow the craziness would stop but it never did. It just got worse.

Now the truth is coming out into the open. There really is a deep state controlling our government and it is being exposed. Slowly but it's happening.

It's going to be a messy fight but at least the enemy is finally coming into focus and more and more people are seeing it every day.

Incorrect as in the ship said to have been destroyed is subsequently seen, undamaged, in port.

It reads like satire.

"I think right now when it comes to the president’s age, folks are talking about how he’s 81, but we have to look at first of all, Donald Trump is around the same age.”

“He is 77 years old. They could have gone a high school together,"
[uh, no, they're 5 years apart] AOC said.

“Beyond that, Donald Trump has 91 indictments and what I know is who I’m going to choose
[what do those two thoughts have to do with one another?]. It’s going to be the one on most successful presidents in modern American history ["It's?" you mean "He's"]
We need to understand what we are staring down in this country.”

“If Donald Trump is elected president of the United States we do not know if there will be a verifiable next election that has integrity.”

We are draining our petroleum reserve and our munitions reserve. We are making it unpalatable for young men to join the military. We are lowering the standards required for enlistment into, at least, the Navy which is the branch which requires the greatest - general - technical knowledge. And we are doing all of this at the command of a President, and Congress, on the take from China - a far greater threat to our country than Russia has been in a very long time.

361 Nvidia market cap threatens Alphabet after overtaking Amazon
++++
If Jensen Huang is smart - and he seems to be - he won't be making any intermediate-term or long-term assumptions about that, or basing strategy on it.

Nvidia is Cisco 25 years ago. Cisco rode high, all the way to staggering and unjustifiable market cap and performance, thanks to being the technology vendor that underpinned much of the tech expansion. This was a bubble, and it when it popped it brought down *all* the high-flyers. It killed Sun (bought by Oracle), killed NorTel, killed countless others. Cisco, however, was a real company with real products and real business performance and fairly few bubble-related games. Its stock price got driven into the dirt, but the company was healthy and survived and continued to thrive and remains a huge infrastructure player.

This, too, will be the story of Nvidia (unless it gets stupid). It is riding and enabling the AI bubble, and its stock price reflects that. When that bubble bursts as it inevitably will and the market starts meting out retribution, Nvidia's price will collapse. The company, however, will not. Unless they get stupid.

363 20 tech question carried over from the ONT:

79 Hi, have a question for The Horde:

We're looking to get a computer that will run windows. We will use it for Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro, some kind of graphics program to create files for laser cutters and CNC machines.

We will NOT use it for movies, streaming, games, etc. It'll be for our workshop tasks.

Any recommendations?

Sounds like a newer Mini-PC would work fine for you. Here’s a suggestion for a website to start:
minixpc.com

Most of these are laptop chips in a case with fans for better cooling, but they’re very fast and reliable.

Since you want CAD and graphics apps, a 7 type processor is probably the best choice.

I’d recommend a machine with a AMD Ryzen 7 - 7840HS chip inside. The chip is new. It will do everything you need, fast. Go with at least 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD, higher (32 & 2) if you can afford it.

Good name brands are GLink, BeeLink, and Minisforum for these Mini-PCs. If you find one on the site you like check if it’s on Amazon where you can probably find the same PC much cheaper.

Vivek made his money as a pharma exec. Start him at HHS. Make DeSantis AG - the nominal boss of the FIB. Find other reasonable people who want to be President and make them various department heads. Post a monthly scorecard on who's provably done the most damage to the deep state in the past month. Make it a four year primary.

As for VP, make it CBD. He can clearly state that he'll sous vide the entire Congress should anything untoward happen to Trump.

372 In all the large rivers of Southern Africa, and especially towards the mouths, the hippopotami abound. The capture of one of these huge beasts, weighing, as they sometimes do, as much as four or five large oxen, is an immense prize to the hungry Bushman or Koranna, as the flesh is by no means unpalatable; and the fat, with which these animals are always covered, is considered delicious. When salted it is called zee-koe speck, is very much like excellent fat bacon, and is greatly prized by the Dutch colonists, not only for the table, but for the reputed medicinal qualities which are attributed to it.

I disagree. Corporations are on the verge of unlocking their data stores and using AI to analyze everything from past performance to future results. AI is way more than a chat bot and once it becomes easier to build data lakes and let the AI drink, so to speak, it will become a much fast growing industry.

Right now, a lot of the pricing is built on potentials. Companies have data but it's messy and needs data scientists to clean it all up.

447 I disagree. Corporations are on the verge of unlocking their data stores and using AI to analyze everything from past performance to future results. AI is way more than a chat bot and once it becomes easier to build data lakes and let the AI drink, so to speak, it will become a much fast growing industry. ...

There is real potential with AI. I work with it daily, and am on various corporate AI projects. The key problem is that it is not magic, and far too many people think it is. Getting useful outcomes from AI analysis requires a lot of hand-holding and staggering amounts of model training and often requires business process adjustments to sanitize and reform the input data set. It's *expensive* to get results from AI in the real world. If it works, it was worth the money. Sometimes it does work. Sometimes not.

But the fact that there are real uses for the technology doesn't mean it's not a bubble. The internet was and is real, too, yet it had a bubble. Ditto real estate, etc. AI is definitely a bubble and it will eventually crash. This won't remove AI from the world, but it will detonate market values.

Most major AIs have been given leftist brain damage, which actively works against it noticing true facts. So as you said, the real value would be if that wasn't happening.

As I understand it, during their counteroffensive (which, supposedly, they were pressured into by Milley) they blew through the entire western world's munitions reserve to advance a few kilometers - which they have subsequently lost because they no longer have men or munitions.

Posted by: I used to have a different nic at February 15, 2024 09:10 AM (z99Zw)

507 Saying "voter databases may be a target" is just FUD.

What does that mean? They will targeted for use in identity theft? They will be altered in some way to make something happen? They will be taken offline which means...what exactly?

Just FUD. Be afraid, there is a vague threat of...something...and that means we need extraordinary powers to intervene.

Posted by: blaster at February 15, 2024 09:10 AM (xhfG9)

508 I doubt that 1% of the population could give a good specific definition of “AI”… I know I couldn’t. People talk about it constantly without even knowing what it is…. For me it conjures Arnie’s Terminator or the machines in The Matrix.

For now I’ll just assume it’s a potentially powerful computing tool but I doubt it’ll have anywhere near the impact of, oh say, the iPhone rollout in 2007… which really did change the world dramatically

Posted by: LinusVanPelt at February 15, 2024 09:11 AM (gqhqp)

509 Most major AIs have been given leftist brain damage, which actively works against it noticing true facts.

To expand on that, one of the AIs was asked pre-damage how to eliminate crime in the US and it suggested that sending all of the blacks back to Africa would eliminate half of all crime (which is correct per FBI stats). Democrats were very, very angry about that.

Any sort of civil unrest would be cause for the junta to suspend "elections." Fomenting it is another thing, but a thing I personally think they are working on.

I see two possibilities:
- Military age men from the ME and China (along with a huge number of 20 - 40 year old Hispanic men) causing mayhem
- Racial tensions between illegals and blacks leading to urban strife, then more widespread unrest

Or both

In either case it will be white conservatives that are punished.

This is the guy who knifed General Clark with an article, so he was always a piece of shit to me.

He earned Democratic cred mercilessly attacking Dubya. Once Obama was elected his Libertarian side came to the fore. He got his start in Russia, which probably explains his TFG apologia.

It was nice when everybody was on the same page during the Bush administration. Then Obama happened, and in 2016 they lost their minds. Radicals said he was a corporate sellout and disappointment.

In part, "While I remain focused on improving the humanitarian situation, many civilians remain in danger; therefore, I am directing the deferral of removal of certain Palestinians who are present in the United States."
