Video Surfaces of Then-Chairman of the Disney Board Bob Iger Delcaring, After January 6th, That It's Time to be "Less Cautious" About Taking Hard Left Political Stances

Background: Bob Iger had been CEO of Disney since around 2006 (IIRC). He briefly exited that job just as the pandemic hit -- perhaps hoping his successor would be tarred for the losses of the pandemic -- and became the chairman of Disney's board of directors.

He appointed Bob Chapek as the new CEO, but intended Chapek to be his go-fer, managing day-to-day operations, but doing what Iger told him to do on all major issues.

Tellingly, Iger refused to give up his luxurious shower-equipped CEO's office and give it to the new CEO. They gave Chapek a different office.

This is a strong indication that Iger still considered himself CEO-in-fact.

Below, Iger dictates that while Disney has previously attempted to stay out of politics, they have treated things that "aren't political" as "political" and stayed out of them when they should have taken a stand. This is the very leftwing Jake Tapper type position that says supporting trans surgery for children isn't a "political" stance at all, it's Just the Right Thing to Do (TM), and the only people acting "politically" on this issue are those who oppose cutting off children's penises and breasts and otherwise resisting what is clearly Just the Right Thing to Do (TM).

This is an incredibly widespread tactic (or real view) on the left; they constantly delegitimize any opposition to their agenda by declaring their own political agenda isn't a political agenda at all, but self-evidently just the "humane, right" thing to do, and only the opposition is smeared as "political" and "ideological." You see this when the media brands everyone pushing a leftwing point of view an "expert," but anyone opposing it, expert or not, a "conservative." In the left's conception of the world, the two poles are represented by non-political "experts" who just want the good and right things (which are, purely coincidentally, the liberal things), and hateful, crassly-political "conservatives" who just want what is worse for everyone.

Thus, Iger brands the entire gozno trans-for-kids movement and the whole gay-indoctrination-for-kids movement a "non-political" issue, and urges Disney to take a stand in these totally "non-political" areas.

And oh boy does it!

Shortly thereafter, the "Disney" Company -- really the Bob Iger Company -- pushed by its disproportionately high number of gay and trans employees, and then by Bob Iger in his role as Actual CEO, takes the position that it's wrong to allow parents to know when their children are being transed, and that 22-year-old idiot girls with noserings and pink hair must indoctrinate kindergarteners, first graders, second graders, and third graders in gay and trans ideology.

See, they should do that, because this isn't "political;" this is just supporting Trans Rights, which are human rights, doncha know.

WDW_Pro discusses this video here, noting that Iger is attempting a "category change" as to what is and what is not political.

Iger, when he's been asked about DEIsney being woke and political, deploys this dodge, claiming that the company isn't political or "woke" at all, but must not stop advancing "its values." Its values are, of course, hard leftwing, but Iger claims they're apolitical values that all people should share, except for those who are "hateful" and "intolerant."

More from David Strom, who links the "Slaves Built this Country" cartoon that DEIsney produced, and the "my not-so-secret gay agenda" leaked videos.

In this next clip, Bob Chapek -- who may lean slightly right but is a typical finger-in-the-wind corporate coward -- announces that after "the murder of George Floyd," as one diversity-monger says, Disney will become DEIsney.

In related Woke "Entertainment" news, the Sony all-girl Spider-Man sidequel (that is, it involves Spider-Man adjacent characters, but not Spider-Man) Madame Web has a 13% positive rating and may bomb even worse than The Marvels.

It opens today. Because... Valentine's Day?

I mean, if I were a woman, and my husband's big idea for Valentine's Day was taking me to a stupid grade-z All Girl fake Spider-Man movie, I would be pretty steamed.

I mean, I'd see it, because Sydney Sweeney has what the Ancient Greek Philosophers called lachtaristes kanates, or "luscious jugs", and Dakota Johnson is pretty cute, but I don't think that's a selling point for most women.

The first studio superhero pic of 2024 currently rests at dismal 13 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
Tracking has Madame Web posting a six-day launch in the $25 million range, although Sony is being more conservative in sticking with $22 million. The movie cost a reported $80 million to produce -- a relatively modest number for superhero fare -- and it certainly doesn't lack for star power between Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Adam Scott, Isabela Merced and Celeste O'Connor in this tale of a clairvoyant paramedic.
Because Madame Web is opening over a six-day stretch, it will be tough to compare it to other Marvel openings, since many of those went out over a three-day weekend. Nor is Madame Web a title in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is owned by Disney.

Midnight's Edge has a good video about this. He points out that this stupid All-Girl Fake Spider-Man movie has been in development for a decade. Former Sony head Amy Pascal ordered it into production without even knowing who the main character would be. She just wanted an all-girls superhero movie, with characters To Be Determined Later.

And she wanted to call it Glass Ceiling. Subtle!

There is no idea with these feminist hags that you tell a story because you have a passion for the story. It's just propaganda vehicle after propaganda vehicle.

Midnight's Edge also points out that ten years ago, when this bomb was first planned, the idea of an All-Girl Superhero Movie might have made it "different."

Not so any longer, when the M-She-U is majority female.

Oh, that video also mentions a feminist idiot called S.J. Clarkson, who I guess is involved in this current bomb. She had previously been tasked with creating a female-centric spin-off of Game of Thrones -- which was scrapped and buried by HBO, for being "too woke."

A studio scrapping a movie they designed to be woke for being too woke.

Imagine how woke it must have been.

Unfortunately, the Madame Web in this movie has little to do with the comic book version. I think this is supposed to work as an origin story for a group of young women who have the same names as spider-themed women in the comic books (Mattie Franklin is one of them), but otherwise have little to do with the comic book characters. To make matters worse, the villain is named Ezekiel Sims, but is basically Morlun. And if you're familiar with those characters, you know they're taking a mysterious mentor character (Ezekiel Sims) and turning him into a very nasty, evil bad guy (Morlun).

bought a SYNOLOGY NAS installed EMBY (PLEX OR JELLYFIN) and started to upload movies and tv shows, there are plenty of programs that will let you record netflix, Prime, D- and TUBI rip the shows you want cancel the service (minus commercials) and put them on your homebrew NETFLIX make an account for my son and I appove the shows.

I have been watching more ANIME with him because every new cartoon has some sort of LGBTQ=+ ETC in them.

There's a scandal in the anime industry right now (also known as "a situation in which the fans found out what the industry is just fine with") involving localization for North America. The dubbers have been making characters much more woke than the Japanese creators had intended. IIRC, Crunchyroll is aware of this, and apparently tacitly approves.

The Japanese just found out about it, and they do NOT approve. Some of the Japanese publishers have stated that they plan to have AI do the localization going forward, with a real person looking over the results to catch the inevitable AI screw-ups.

Also, something similar has just turned up in localization of Japanese video games.

One problem they have had is the origin problem - they always seem to think they have to show it and spend all the time on it. At least if they do it with Supes or Batman its a short scene, the FF usually take way too long.

Just pick it up in the middle and show them solving a problem as a functional group and you can carry people along without showing them.

The movie would NEVER show in China, so, unfortunately, there's little money to be made from it. Or little stomach from the "Rah Rah Girl Powah!" girls in Hollywood.
