First-World Problems...

The only color for decaffeinated coffee should be pink. Or maybe white for surrender. That means bags of beans in the store, cups at coffee shops, capsules in hotel rooms, and maybe even people who drink it! I think that should be considered in the halls of Congress, since they don't do anything else useful.

I almost made a cup of decaffeinated coffee yesterday, and I am still shaking with rage and indignation that I came so close to the destruction of all that I hold dear in the morning. I picked up the devil capsule, thinking that it was normal coffee, not some post-modern bastardization of one of the glories of civilization. Why would red mean decaf? But I checked, and there it was, in some horrid foreign language..."Decaffeinato," which means in Italian that we have failed as a country, and you can take our women.

I threw it down in disgust, although I probably should have stomped on it to destroy the evil humors.

What's next Italy? Caccio e Pepe with low-fat cheese?

I don't know if it's a blessing or a curse, but coffee doesn't keep me awake at night. I can drink it as late as I want, but it does have a small heartburn risk, so I tend not to drink it late.

77 Those pods look like the ones for a Nespresso machine, a complete abomination of the process of making coffee. A hotel we stayed at has these "devices" instead of a Keurig or the other type of hotel coffeepots. The discharge from it tastes like the most vile instant coffee you can imagine. Perhaps the hotel was trying to force the guests to patronize the coffee shop in the lobby.

I miss the 4-cup glass brew-type coffeepots which made just enough coffee for me to get my day started.

Yesterday picked up my brand new pipe and stuffed it full of tobacco. When I tried to light it I found the airway was totally blocked. Upon inspection I found the drunken bog-trotter who had made it had left the section between the bowl and the stem blocked with glue and sawdust.
Some vigorous application of the spike on my pipe knife (doesn't everyone have a pipe knife?) and I got the blockage cleared.

Seems a possible way to cure it is to shut off your main water supply then drain all your lines. Open up ever faucet, flush every toilet, etc - even outside. You may have an air chamber in your wall out of sight that has become water logged and is no longer providing the cushion it is intended to create.

Try the following:
1. Shut off the house water supply.
2. Open a faucet in the lowest part of the house.
3. Turn on a shower head in the upstairs bathroom to break the vacuum and let all the water drain out of the system.
This will hopefully allow the air cushion in the pipe to reform.

Anyhoo, one of the ads is a woman's torso, covered in a girdle type thing, and they zoom in on the crotch. It's about the most cameltoed cameltoe I've ever seen on teevee.

213 I have a FWB. I've discovered The Kid (female) has been using the hot water in an incorrect way. It's an instant-on gas unit; but the kitchen faucet is a long run, and takes a while to warm up. So she's been leaving the faucet (single-handle) on Hot all the time and basically using the piping as a 'tank'. This means each time she runs water the unit fires up. But she only turns it on for a few seconds, as in her mind 'it uses less hot water'. I've demonstrated and explained this is not good for the unit, these 'micro-starts' of the flame, multiple times per day. This is not sinking in. I'm thinking the only real answer to this is either a serious brawl or installing a 2-1/2 gallon tank single-point tank electric for the kitchen faucet, which isn't a bad idea anyway...

There is no tank!
So many people cannot wrap their heads around this and it creates all kinds of problems.

224 I've seen multiple reviews of instant-on tankless hot water heaters and some people simply cannot have them. They must have a tank. They'll get The Green Ideas and put one in at great expense only to discover they absolutely hate it with the heat of a thousand suns and spend another fortune to rip it out and replace it with a tank.
It's not at all uncommon to find 'slightly used' tankless units for sale on eBay and Craigslist.

The element in that tank will also heat the water in the pipes to a certain extent. A tankless does not. As soon as that flame goes off the water reverts to inflow temp. Some people flatly cannot deal with the delay, especially with a long run. I'm thinking a single-point tank in the kitchen.
An electric goes about $150 and can hang right on the fucking wall. Which is where it will go as they require yearly service (anode replacement, cleaning) and no way am I burying it under the counter.

A 2 1/2 gallon under sink heater is a good option - if - you have electric nearby. They come with a very short cord. But with such a short run hot water is almost instantaneous. At 1500 watts it might be problematic with a even a short duration load from a 1500 watt toaster running at the same time. Depends on how circuits are wired.

My kitchen they unfortunately put everything on one branch. Was running 1500 watt toaster and 1500 watt grill/panini press recently and not so good. Down to the service panel for breaker reset. FWP.
