Mitt Romney and 21 Deep State Republican Turncoats Pass $95 Billion Ukraine Aid Package -- With No Protections for Our Border

Wow, it's almost as if... this was their plan all along.

Greg Price
@greg_price11

BREAKING: The senate just pulled an all nighter and officially passed their $95B foreign aid bill for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan with nothing for the southern border

The final vote was 70-29 with 22 Republicans voting yes.

McConnell, Thune, Boozman, Capito, Cassidy, Collins, Cornyn, Cramer, Crapo, Ernst, Grassley, Hoeven, Kennedy, Moran, Murkowski, Risch, Romney, Rounds, Sullivan, Tillis, Wicker and Young.

Kyle Becker
@kylenabecker

Nothing to see here, folks. Just foreign nations and war grifters looting taxpayers while America gets invaded by millions of illegal aliens.

We're not subverted or anything, though. Don't worry.

I would have accepted funding for Ukraine so long as America's national security was also funded.

But the NOPe said no, we have to pass the agenda of the Democrat Party and the Deep State.

And what about the House? There would surely be enough liberal Fake Republicans to vote with the Democrats to pass this bill in the House if the Speaker scheduled a vote... but in the House, the Speaker does get to decide if a vote will be scheduled or not.

Will Johnson do so, or hang tough? Will he honor his prior promise to only pass aid for Ukraine's border if the American border is secured first?

The foreign propaganda outlet AP:

House Speaker Mike Johnson late Monday sharply criticized a $95.3 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel and other countries, casting serious doubts about the future of the package just as Senate leaders were slowly muscling it ahead in hopes of sending a message that the U.S. remains committed to its allies.

The Republican speaker said the package lacked border security provisions, calling it "silent on the most pressing issue facing our country." It was the latest -- and potentially most consequential -- sign of opposition to the Ukraine aid from conservatives who have for months demanded that border security policy be included in the package, only to last week reject a bipartisan proposal intended to curb the number of illegal crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border

Or at least that's the claim. Mullin denies it, FWIW.

16 I like the "I'm Trump lowers the cash, it's impeachment right away" part. Unless they removed that. Cause sacred honor demands we give all the money to Ukraine, until the last Ukrainian falls. Which at the rate they are going, may happen in the next couple years.

Posted by: Bete at February 13, 2024 02:15 PM (LX4y3)

17 Has anyone pointed out to the Senate that since their last shitty "deal" failed, they *could* have played this differently? They could have done either of two things:
1. Make a new "deal" that doesn't suck so much
2. Pass border control first as its own bill, then pass Ukraine second

They had two choices that would have let them pretend that they care about the security and cultural disaster that is the southern border. They took neither option, instead choosing to yell, "go fuck yourself" at the public and hurl yet more money we don't have at a foreign war.

They cannot bind a future Congress. They can try to create an excuse, but the future Congress has to play along.

I have little doubt that it *would* play along, but they cannot compel it to. They can put in the bill that as of 2025, taking a morning shit is reasonable cause for an impeachment. It doesn't mean they can actually enforce it.

But the attitude is the worst part of it, as well as the conclusion. "If you disagree with the technocrats, we consider cause to remove you from office" is a firm and clear statement about who is actually in charge.

Spoiler Alert: it ain't the President.

They can, however, pass a law that is in effect in the future which is how it workd. The bill doesn't say "this is how we impeach Trump" but it creates a legal condition that the President could violate and thus be up for impeachment. Unless, of course, the law is changed.

To get the discharge over the hump, 5 is number of GOP members have to sign off on it if they use the previous discharge petition which has all Democrats right now. They will need more if the leftist members of Congress retract their signatures over the lack of restrictions on aid to Israel.

84 Remember when all we needed to do to support Ukraine was sanctions on Russia?
Then only seizing the private property of Russian citizens?
Then, just a few billion?
And it'll be over in 3 months?
And then another few tens of billions?
Now we're up over $150 billion?
But the $5 billion for our security at the southern border was unacceptably too much?
And now over 400,000 Ukraine men are dead?
But we need to borrow more money to loan to Ukraine so they can continue to die, forced to buy our used equipment, that they neither have the men nor training to use?
And that's THE Most Important Issue in America.

Government efficiency.

Seriously.

They can't just openly steal it. That would be poor form and terribly uncouth. So they have to steal bits of it as it moves around, and eventually something along the lines of what the money was appropriated for has to show up.

So if they're creating an appropriation for the purchase of hammers, those hammers have to be delivered. But since they all have to steal during the process, those hammers end up costing $5,000 each instead of $35 each. The hammers get delivered and everyone at all levels gets to soak his beak in the overage.

162 The longer this plays out the better the odds the Ukraine loses. I never thought that the goal of getting Russia out of Donbas, Crimea and other occupied areas was feasible with the size of the uke army. We didn't give them weapons which could reach into Russia and given the size differential Ukraine had to fight a much more asymmetric war. Now they're just about out of troops. So, 20 years from now someone will be saying the same thing after some vote but the Senators who voted against it today will be voting for it then and a new crop will be voting against to keep hope alive.

>>I heard that the Senate bill also includes a provision that if funding is cut in 2025 or 2026 against the advice of "career officials" it becomes a matter for which a president could be impeached. ie, the plan is to tie the hands of a second term Trump.

The bill establishes two separate, ostensible 13B dollar slush funds for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan for which money can be extracted and dispersed and laundered through the MIC/NGO money trough.

It also establishes slush funds for munitions and armament replenishment that in turn can be sent to conflict areas.

It also establishes aid and support slush funds.

Most run out in Dec of 24, the ones for Ukraine run out in Sept of 25, which mean the Uniparty/Deep State want us to still be engaged in a proxy war with Russia in the near and long term.

These expenditures are mandatory and give little discretion in their wording.

Which would make Trumps plans to end the war problematic as the bill mandates arms transfers to Ukraine and war assistance, well past Trumps desire to end the war on day one of his administration.

Or alternatively....

The Senate GOP, in the main, are enemies of this country and need to be broomed.

Yeah, its a bit earlier in the process. Everyone sees problems but is acting in the old ways because their are no other ways. Setbacks are surely going to be addressed once a few small issues are addressed.

In the Roman Empire we are about at the point where the leaders put Stilicho to death and killed the families of the German troops that made up most of the army. The troops so affected joined Alaric and his "revolt" to get better deals for his men became suddenly unopposed except for walled cities.

When government spending has to be cut down to government revenue because no one lends to the government, then systematic collapse of the system. It is, also, the Achilles Heel of this whole mess. Oversight hearings need to be set up immediately. And, each of the oversight representatives from these three entities need to be under oath when they lie about their prowess on oversight. I'd even support legislation that tied third party auditing firms to oversight on all US foreign aid. You'd think that someone like Rand Paul would be pushing legislation like this, or is he, also, just a showman?

I once got into an argument about Jon Bon Jovi being a hack when I pointed out that 90% of his hits were actually written by Desmond Child.

You do know that I didn't actually write 'I Write The Songs'?

381 376 Killary was a Methodist in Arkansas not Baptist. I doubt Bill darkened the door of a church for fear of bursting into flames.

He was in the choir of the biggest Baptist Church in Little Rock.

382 No money for Ukraine precisely because the 22 decepticon 'republican' senators voted for their own kickbacks.

That 'war' had a peace agreement signed in April '22 and these assholes pulled it off the table.

No, I don't support Putin, but his currency and society is humming right along. Our sanctions are helping him while walling us off from the rest of the world.

135 I'm really disappointed in John Kennedy.

I think it is becoming more and more obvious that Keneedy is an establishment RINO who knows how to throw out "red meat" sound bites when it doesn't cost his standing with his fellow RINOs. Just think Trey Gowdy but in the Senate.

386 Taylor has started to look … artificial. I don’t know if it’s the makeup, surgeries, or what. She’s got some kind of uncanny valley thing going on.

387 It's the best I could come up with and a good model. Cruz may not be everyone's favorite, but he is lightyears better than Dewhurst or Cornyn. He was a long shot. Would be nice to rid ourselves of Cornyn, but we are stuck for awhile.

Cornyn saw how Cruz got grassroots support, and how Richard Lugar got knocked out in Indiana. Since then, he’s filled the primaries like a clown car or made sure no one has ever gotten traction against him. I’ll vote for anyone else in the primary, and I’ll consider the Democrat if I have to.

Cornyn must go.
