Axios: "How Biden Botched The Border"

All at once, the media turned off the Protective Force Shield they were maintaining around Grandpa Fingerbang.

Bill Melugin read the piece and digested it (so that I don't have to

Bill Melugin
@BillMelugin_

NEW: Brutal new reporting from @axios in article titled "How Biden Botched the Border".

- Biden exploded w/ rage at his team aboard AF1 on the way to border last year.

- Susan Rice called HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra a "bitch ass"& "idiot".

- VP Harris' team made it clear her responsibilities "began and ended" w/ root causes in just the 3 Northern Triangle counties & Mexico, w/ a former Biden admin official saying Harris has been "at best, ineffective".

- Mayorkas disagreed with Biden's 100 day halt on deportations.

- Homeland Security adviser Liz Sherwood-Randall displayed inexperience, asked for a memo explaining the difference between refugees & asylum seekers.

- Biden admin has listened to "vocal immigration advocates outside the administration".

- "The White House generally didn't want to talk publicly about immigration or the border for much of Biden's first three years, feeling it would draw attention to a political vulnerability."

- "Publicly, the White House also initially downplayed jumps in illegal border crossings as normal "ebbs and flows" -- even as some internally pushed to acknowledge that the problem was significant."

The article highlights a combination of infighting, incompetence, and indifference regarding the administration's handling of the border over the last 3 years.

The article is here.

Related: Jonathan Turley explain that removal of the president under 25th Amendment is a long, cumbersome process which Biden and the Democrats can easily defeat.

It is Section 4 that allows the removal of a president. One option is what I have called the "mutiny option." It requires a vice president and a majority of the Cabinet to declare that the president is "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office," and notify Congress that the vice president intends to take over. If Vice President Kamala Harris could get eight Cabinet officers to go along with a letter to Congress, her status as the "Acting President" would likely be short-lived. Joe Biden (who yesterday declared, "I'm elderly and know what the hell I'm doing") would only have to declare to Congress that "no inability exists." Biden would then resume his powers.

Harris would have to send another declaration with the Cabinet members within four days to the president pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House, rejecting Biden's claims.

With that second declaration, Congress would have 48 hours to assemble to debate the issue. It would then have 21 days to vote on the removal. However, that would require two-thirds majorities in both houses. If Congress did not vote within 21 days, the president would resume and keep power.

21 The government pays NGOs to find colonizers and bring them to the border.

Then the government lets them in and stops the states from doing anything about it.

Then the government pays other NGOs to take care of the illegals until it can get them on welfare.

There is no *screwing* up. This was all intentional and could be easily stopped at any time by the federal government literally just not doing anything.

29 Related: Jonathan Turley explain that removal of the president under 25th Amendment is a long, cumbersome process which Biden and the Democrats can easily defeat.

The problem they would face is, having defeated the 25th Amendment mutiny, they could not then replace Biden on the ticket as being unable to do the job. They'd have to replace the "black" woman VP with someone else, since she'd now have to be seen as a traitor, as well as eight members of the cabinet. All while a large majority of the voters seem to think that Biden is too "old" to be President.

They could defeat it but doing so would sort of fuck them.

Incompetent people carving specific areas of operation for themselves and then attacking their peers as they build their own personal empires is terribly common behavior in organizations with lots of assumable power and no effective central command or leadership. Yep, the "involuntary" Sec. 4 removal is just about impossible, really, if POTUS contests it.

The easy Sec 4. was designed for a case where POTUS was lying in a coma or on life support due to injury or medical problem (think Woodrow Wilson having a stroke, or a president still alive but barely after some assassination attempt).

Note that it is the VP alone who must initiate the process. Even if the entire cabinet thinks POTUS is unfit, the VP must be the one to start the process.

154 "...25th Amendment is a long, cumbersome process which Biden and the Democrats can easily defeat."

The Democrats may even want to apply the 25th Amdt., but the key ingredient remains Biden. He will not go. He cannot afford to. Power is the thing that keeps him and his family out of prison.

So obstinate, arrogant, inept, corrupt, and even senile Joe will never acquiesce to even a friendly mob disguised as Democrat patriots. And that's the best medium-term thing that can happen to America. Let this particular train retain its trajectory for a few more months lest it hang on and go off the rails even worse even longer should a replacement progressive engineer get appointed.

166 From the article:
Zoom in: The crisis grew slowly. Many administration leaders treated the issue like a hot potato because it was politically thankless, several sources in and out of government told Axios.

Some administration officials feel the State Department dragged its feet for years in setting up regional processing centers to allow more migrants to apply for protection in the U.S. before reaching the border.
...
Between the lines: Warring ideologies inside the White House and the Democratic Party also slowed decision-making
...
The internal turmoil led to contradictory actions by Biden's team.

++++
The obvious implication here is that while it has gone down on Biden's watch, it isn't exactly Biden's fault because it's a "legacy problem" left for him by former executives, and the Party itself is chaotic in dealing with the border.

The less-obvious implication is that Biden is not in charge at all.

Empires always degenerate into hiring mercenaries when citizens just won't fight for the regime. Fortunately, you get more limited wars that way as one can never be quite sure about the loyalty of mercenaries. This would give Biden a dignified exit(not that he deserves it) but it would be face saving on the Kamala issue.

228 Emperor Hirohito: There are many decisions in the last few years that might have been handled differently if we felt it was possible politically to address them, however we must award ourselves full points for our decisive actions in the face of adversity

Jefferson Davis: unfortunately we listened to divisive voices outside of our area of concern and were led into errors, administratively. Forward, we will focus on the areas we consider our main competence, within our principle area of concern

Publius Quinctilius Varus: Although our willingness to alter our normal procedures for the concerns for the people that we were most focused on was technically the cause of our failure in a few key areas, the willingness of the men under my command to address emergent changes in the situational environment, I believe, shows the dedication they held, the success of the Roman training my leadership team had installed, and their willingness to stand in the face of adversity. Such dedication can be taken as nothing less that a complete success for our adventure and reflection on our key competencies within the current political landscape and leadership.

230 Yup. It's designed - on purpose - to be next to impossible to pull off. I have never considered the 25th to be a likely option, and I still don't.

A backroom deal to force him out is more likely. Knocking the old fogey down a flight of stairs and washing their hands of him is more likely than the 25th. If they actually want to be rid of Biden, I strongly doubt they'll try that particular method.

Biden isn't going anywhere. You'll know that he's about to leave the WH when he pardons Hunter. We all know that he will not leave before he does, and when that happens he'll be radioactive. Not that he should care, of course. He's done his duty to the Democrats by running for POTUS and 'defeating' Trump. He'll either die in office, or shortly thereafter, so he's got no loyalty to his colleagues at this point. He's now doing this for himself, and nobody can induce him to do otherwise.

He'll be the nominee. He's not going anywhere. He'll lose to Trump, pardon Hunter, then exeunt.

The Biden's don't have squat. If paying off Hunter's tax debt of 2M were of no consequence, they would have paid it.

Nobody is buying Joe's presidential memoirs. No Netflix deal for them.

Some Secret Service guards, franking privileges and maybe a personal assistant.

1. The calendar is not their friend. Not only are they losing valuable time every day that goes by that he's not replaced, they also have one less day to promote the replacement before the election. They already can't get enough delegates due to filing deadlines for the primaries, although New Jersey could give othe states the answer to fixing that problem. The longer this goes on, the bigger this problem becomes.

2. As has been discussed by others, the factionalism will resurface if anyone else is named. There is no generic acceptable replacement candidate.

3. These people are fundamentally lazy and inclined to let someone else take care of the problem.

I will say that this past few days, since the report becoming public, have shown more open revolt against the idea of Biden's presidency from establishment sources than the 2020 primary when they were all pushing niche candidates like Beto or Buttigieg or Warren.

Perhaps the report is the gamechanger the left fears? I dunno.

I still see Atlanta covering windows and running one ballot through 1000 times to get Biden a victory in GA.

Small caveat: He was consistently polling second to Bernie. Bernie was the true voice of the party, regularly getting about a 3rd of the vote.

The other wokefests like Buttigieg and Beto would spike up to about 15% and then dwindle away, leaving Bernie #1 and Biden #2.

Getting everyone else to drop out and support Biden was an anti-Bernie move.

Depends. Simply put---once you get upwards of total political mobilization, situation goes non-linear. The Dems did it in 2020 via cheating at an unprecedented scale--they go higher in urban areas to something like 200 percent of registered voters---clear evidence of fraud. So Joe's vote total is relatively fixed to around 2020 levels. We simply do not know how many votes are out there for Trump beyond his 2020 totals. Something like 100 percent turnout in rural and suburban levels is likely to surpass Biden's total.

During the 1880's and 1890's before voter registration etc., you used to get this sort of tally which resulted in 90-100 percent turnout and widely divergent presidential elections.

All of the people Joe "defeated" for the 2020 nomination have been on the Dem's "Not For Nationwide Political Use" shelf for 4 years now. Buttplug? Beto? Jello-brain? Bernie? Lieawatha? No way in 2024. The Colorado or Pennsylvania Governors? Not enough nationwide name recognition yet.

Big Mike has the Democrat Base locked-in, but can she win without maga-massive cheating in more than 5 or 6 states? I believe this is why Kamala will also lose if she's at the top of the ticket. Gavin Brylcreem? Witchmer? Are either approved by at least two of the Obama, Clinton, and Pelosi/California camps?

NY Times and now Axios publishing critical articles seems to indicate the truth of that.
