The Very Private Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin Stripped of His Authority Again as He Is Hospitalized In Critical Care Unit With Bladder Problems

I think this very private man will soon exit to the private sector.

Is anyone in the Biden Administration fit for office?

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is moved to the critical care unit at Walter Reed after tests on 'emergent bladder issues' as he passes duties to his deputy for second time in a month following his prostate cancer surgery

Lloyd Austin, 70, was admitted to a critical care unit late on Sunday evening

He has been hospitalized for 'symptoms suggesting an emergent bladder issue'

Austin was taken to Walter Reed Hospital after thesymptoms emerged Sunday

By Stephen M. Lepore and Katelyn Caralle, U.S. Political Reporter For Dailymail.com

Lloyd Austin has been admitted to a critical care unit at Walter Reed Medical Center 'for supportive care and close monitoring' after he was hospitalized for 'symptoms suggesting an emergent bladder issue.'

The Defense Secretary, 70, was transported to military hospital after the symptoms emerged Sunday afternoon.

According to a hospital official, Austin was admitted to the critical care unit 'after a series of tests and evaluations.'

'At this time, it is not clear how long Secretary Austin will remain hospitalized. The current bladder issue is not expected to change his anticipated full recovery. His cancer prognosis remains excellent,' Dr. John Maddox said in a statement.

Earlier Sunday, it was announced Austin has had his duties stripped and transferred to deputy Kathleen Hicks.

That isn't the typical, "we admitted him because he's a big and important guy and we're being super careful."

That sounds more like the admitted him because they had to.

That's an interesting and passive construction.

"His duties were stripped?" By whom? According to which process? Did he temporarily step down (which he should have) and transfer his duties, or was this done externally by some other party? If the latter, then how did it come about?

This is written so vaguely that either the author doesn't understand or know or the author is being deliberately evasive. Or both, of course.

One day he'll fully recover... from this local tumor? This cancer management in this snapshot in time is perceptionally, clinically optimistic?

Is there metastasis? Is he to undergo debilitating chemo/radiation for maintenance? Are there secondary effects of his surgery that are complicating?

Forgetting that I don't approve of his leadership as known, I'm not confident of that report or of his medical condition despite official assurances. I mean, officially, Biden remains of sound mind and body to be president. So excuse my suspicions.

Had that after my bladder surgery but given the length of time between the original surgery and this admission is over a month. Something ain't right here--either original surgery was botched or post op infection/scar tissue is sealing off the bladder from emptying.

You get real sick, pretty fast with severe urine retention problems and it can stretch out your bladder muscles to the extent that you keep getting retention issues as well. That requires further surgery.

In my case, it was misdiagnosed enlarged prostate blockage when it was actually a bladder obstruction. Declined TURP surgery locally due to side effects and went to Mayo for HOLEP procedure which is safer and quicker recovery time with fewer side effects.

I'd presume his blood pressure is sky-high, too. Gotta put a lot of strain on the heart, pushing a gallon n' a half of 90 weight syrup through the system, when all the blood vessels themselves are being crushed by the surrounding fat pressing in like the ocean on the ill-fated Titan submarine.

Gotta be some brave nurses tending to him, there. One wrong poke with a needle, and he may well burst like a kids balloon.

Trans urethal resection procedure. Aka rotor rooter---using a heated cutting surface they cut through obstructions in the prostate and urinary tract.

Modern approaches use either a Holmium cold laser (Holep) which also gives the doc a biopsy of teh prostate tissue for cancer or Rezum which is a steam procedure that fries the offending tissue for later expulsion after it dies. There is one other TURP variant that uses microwaves to heat the tissue and then it is much like Rezum.

Posted by: Anna Puma

He had prostate cancer which I did not. But they commonly treat the prostate gland with radioactive seed to kill the cancer, total removal which in my FIL case, made him impotent and unable to control his bladder (cut the nerve) and he had internal leakage immediately after the first surgery so they had to open him up again to fix his urinary line hole.

Prostate is a small dense tissue that is really hard for blood stream drugs to penetrate which is why radiation or surgical removal is necessary for cancer. Also difficult to cure if the prostate tissue is infected with antibiotics. Nasty stuff.

The only conclusive test is biopsy and even then, depending on the method and how many samples, it can miss it.

You can actually get an ultrasound sizing of your prostate which is far more accurate than a finger up the butt. Rarely ordered but probably should be considered more.

BPH aka enlarged prostate almost always manifests as difficulty in peeing at times.

The PSA picks up inflammation in the prostate which may be cancer or may be something like an infection or injury.

Interesting thought, but the US has blocked any sort of diplomatic move for months *before* the war started. Russia was noting the violations of the Minsk Accords and wanted the guarantor nations of France and Germany to get with Ukraine and force talks with the Donbas as was agreed. Later both France and Germany boasted that they had no intentions of following Minsk, and were just using the time to rearm Ukraine. The accords were agreed to because Ukraine's army was surrounded and was going to have to surrender.
