Penguins chasing a butterfly.

Easter's coming.

Cute arctic fox.

Pouncing, non-feline division.

So happy.

Someone got the audio from the 7-Eleven down the street from me.

I've heard this argument from the couple next door.

Healing a puppy with malformed front legs.

One dog doesn't know how to use the stairs, so another dog comes down to show him the way.

Chubby little guy doesn't want to get weighed.

13 The nests themselves are never fouled, the excreta being squirted clear of them for a distance of a foot or more, so that each nest has the appearance of a flower with bright green petals radiating from its centre. Even when the chicks have come and are being sat upon by the parents, this still holds good, because they lie with their heads under the old bird's belly and their hindquarters just presenting themselves, so that they may add their little decorative offerings, petal by petal.

22 I forgot that John Sexton works for the incredibly unseemly HotAir.com, so I accidentally followed the sidebar link to that house of ill-repute.

These wretched cunts had the G-d damned temerity to start attaching this pathetic bleg on their basement-tier screeds:

"For decades, the liberal media has attacked conservatives and provided cover for Democrats... Now they have big-tech helping them censor conservative media.

HotAir needs your direct support to stay in the fight."

Of all the inside-out, upside down house of cards bullshit artistry out there, this is a particularly rich formulation.

Salem Media has enough money to subsidize their money-toilet liberal media organs that provide cover for Democrats, as they have proven over and over again. It takes balls to ask human beings to chip in cash for Ed Fuckin' Morrissey, lol.

Posted by: Don Black at February 12, 2024 07:49 PM (geLO8)

40 Penguins can be very romantic. Here's a description of some typical behavior:

"He would pick up a stone and lay it in front of her if she were sitting in her "scoop". She might take to him kindly, or, as often happened, peck him furiously. To this he would submit tamely, hunching up his feathers and shutting his eyes while she pecked him cruelly. Generally after a little of this she would become appeased. He would rise to his feet, and in the prettiest manner edge up to her, gracefully arch his neck, and with soft guttural sounds pacify her and make love to her."

And of course, otters.

47 Not to be too political at the Café but I began watching a new season of a Brit TV series, Landscape Artist of the Year [it might be on the Smithsonian Channel in the U.S. -- it's on ours here] and there's a related Portrait Artist of the Year show too.

Eight artists compete to paint a landscape at a famous British site in just 4 hours. The artists are screened by providing a personal submission of a work of their own choosing. Despite the fact that the artists chosen for each episode are named along with their submissions to the show's three judges, and the judges see the artists with their works at the painting site so all their names, sex and ethnicity or British town of residence are known to the judges, at the program start critiquing each artist's winning personal submission, the judges insist on using "they" discussing the individual artist's work.

Alabama is having to hustle to get big-time NIL money in place because, even though lucrative NIL deals existed, players were willing to earn substantially less in their NIL deals in order to be coached by Saban. It was viewed as that valuable for the top talent. I thought that was neat.

100 Who gives a shit about academics? Certainly none of the professors or administrators do.

Why force athletes into lecture halls so they can sacrifice their precious time and talents growing even stupider than they were before?

Cleave off the athletics programs and let them incorporate as an actual business whose profits belong to the school? Those programs are the only valuable part of most universities. It doesn't make sense to leave them to the fools and wastrels who ran the rest of the dump into the ground.

Depends on the goal. IIRC Saban was being paid $11M/year, but had brought hundreds of millions not only to the school but to the state of Alabama, and had increased the "worth" of the brand to over $1B

Penguins strike me as filthy, smelly creatures, and in their natural habitat, I don't know how anyone could think they're cute.

But unlike bears, if you have cuddly wuddly feelings about them, at least they're fairly unlikely to maul and eat you, the way a bear would.

Free tuition, free room and board, whatever money they can glean from rich college backers, the ability to shop themselves every year to other colleges to see who will give them the most, and a large pool of college girls to pick from. Obviously a case of highly oppressed toilers who need some help and a level field to compete on.

Pros are different. There's no draft for college kids. Besides, Belichick has an insane winning percentage for 20 years. Yea he had Brady but he also had great player besides Brady.

Jack Kelley was a legendary hockey coach. He took Boston University to back to back national championships. Then he went to fledgling WHA and took the Hartford Whalers to the championship. Then he went to Colby College in Maine, a small Division 3 school where he coached for a while when he was just breaking into the profession and in his first year he was taking down Division 1 powerhouses like Northeastern.

He left after a year and the team went back to the norm for Div. 3. In college a great coach really means a lot.

Ironically, that was how the major colleges used to make bank. They could stash players for years, in case they needed them. Sure they could grab a start from a minor school, but they could always do that.

but now, more players are leaving for schools where they have a chance to play and build a resume for the pros, or get some money now. And with all the major schools piling in one leagues, the undefeated seasons will become more rare in the one or two leagues left.

180 ITS ORIGIN AND PURPOSE, STILL A TOTAL MYSTERY: Joel Osteen Houston Megachurch shooting: What we know about woman who walked in with child and started firing. “The shooter used an AR-15 that had ‘Free Palestine’ written on it, according to a federal law enforcement source. Investigators are trying to sort out whether she was politically motivated or a disturbed individual, the source said.”

According to Andy Ngo, “She has been named as Genesse I. Moreno and her social media shows a history of leftist politics.”

UPDATE: Houston Police Announce Results of Their Investigation Into Church Shooter’s Pronouns. “The Houston Police have announced that through an investigation that included documents and interviews, they have determined that the shooter was a female Hispanic and will be referred to by she/her pronouns. This is all very confusing, but it seems that the police are deadnaming the dead would-be mass shooter.”

183 Moreno’s Facebook page—which expressed leftist, anti-police views—has since been scrubbed. Moreno’s since-deleted Instagram account featured posts of her cleaning an AR-15 and donating money to Lakewood Church. There, she uploaded a screenshot of the contribution’s confirmation. “[A]s for me and my household…I will honor and bless my church,” Moreno wrote on Instagram.

In the lead-up to the 2020 presidential election, Moreno supported socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). “I WANT HIM IN THE OFFICE AS THE US PRESIDENT,” she wrote in an Instagram post, uploading a photograph of Sanders on the campaign trail.

Arrest records show she was an El Salvadoran immigrant.

Moreno had a violent, extensive criminal history stretching back to 2005, according to court records reviewed by Townhall. She was previously arrested for assaulting a public servant, assault causing bodily injury, forgery, theft for stealing cosmetics from a store, evading police, and unlawfully carrying a weapon, among a slew of charges on Moreno’s decades-old rap sheet.

193 One person was killed and five others wounded following a dispute between two groups of teenagers at a Bronx subway station Monday at the start of the evening rush hour, authorities said.

A 34-year-old man was killed, police said. The wounded included a 14-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy, and three adults, ages 28, 29 and 71. Some of the victims were believed involved in the dispute and others were waiting for the train, authorities said, describing four of the injuries as serious.

We do not believe that this was an individual indiscriminately firing into a train or a train station,” NYPD’s chief of transit, Michael Kemper, said at a news conference. “This incident today occurred as a result of two groups that started fighting while on a train.” [Mount Eden station, Bronx]

The earliest story about this that I know of is a Robert W Chambers story about how the isthmus of Panama collapsed and allowed the gulf stream to flow directly into the Pacific, causing polar climates to close in europe, especially England and Ireland.
In response, a large series of mechanical dikes were created to control the flow of the gulf stream were created to both moderate the weather for Europe in the Winter, and to make New England and the rest of the American seaboard more pleasant during the summer

The footage shows special forces coming under fire during the rescue operation and the moments when the Israeli forces accompanied rescued hostages Fernando Marman and Luis Har to the helicopter that transported them back to Israel.
The forces gave Fernando and Luis coats to wear before they headed to the helicopter, and one soldier gave Luis his shoes since he was barefoot when rescued. The two hostages then boarded a helicopter at a makeshift helipad in Gaza and were brought to a hospital in Israel where they were reunited with their families.

Crosby is still playing at a high level but it won't matter. There playoff chances are slim. Malkin is mostly missing. It would be nice if he'd at least not be a stiff. Maybe Jagr is available. He's still playing and pretty well

253 Even the turks knew you had to separate the military from the polity. That anyone in uniform is pushing left-wing, or any other political view is disgusting and a complete retraction of who we are and who we have always been, screw them they should all be fired.

I joined the military when they ask you if you were gay, and if you said you were gay, you were out. Nobody thought this was weird. They had the rules and that was that. They are trying to war the military and use it against their own country.

They wonder why no one wants to join no matter how much they pay. we used to join gladly and we got paid a hell of a lot less. we joined because we thought it was an important thing we thought we were doing the right thing. Now you have recruit depot even in deep south areas and they will never show white man ever they will show black women, Asian women and whatever they can come up with on their posters, but never white men. I don’t like the racial stuff. I think it’s a bunch of bullshit, it was the left that came up with this crap, and is trying to destroy us. The US military is on its knees and it is because of the hard-core left.

Most people simply do not care, and they

254 Will still vote hard left. There is tribalism here, and many just will not give up their own tribe no matter what it does to everyone else. if Trump does get in and of course, that is a very big If, the first thing he has to do is get rid of many layers of the top echelon of the military, fire, all of them.

255 To the average American peak hockey was the American team at the Olympics. The reality is hockey will always be a niche sport in the United States is it certainly not going to grow in my opinion. Bear pushing soccer like what has never been done before and even with 30% of the country being Hispanic soccer is still a niche sport in this country. ESPN has gone all out they regularly give us scores from England and Argentina. Are they for real? Of course we know they are not.

Maybe hockey will get its time, but something strange would have to happen. Someone would have to come out as super pro American or something. I’ll be honest I can’t think of why hockey whatever gain another fan in this country. if anything sports are losing fans from hockey to baseball to football to golf, we are losing interest because when we look at the stars, we don’t see ourselves anymore.
