After RedState's Jennifer Van Laar Exposes Absurd Spending Habits at the RNC, Rona McDaniel Resigns

Jennifer Van Laar dropped a big exposee about terrible spending priorities at the RNC on January 31st.

Charlie Kirk summarized what Jen Van Laar found when she compared the RNC's spending to the DNC's. I'm bolding some of the items with the greatest differences.

Charlie Kirk
@charliekirk11

NEW -- I got an exclusive first look at @jenvanlaar's new report on the RNC's lavish spending on limos, consultants, flowers, and office supplies while skimping on GOTV, data, and state parties:

Floral Arrangements:
RNC - $70,328.00
DNC - $795

Consultants:
RNC - $1,078,279.47
DNC - $114,000

My old friend Mike Flynn (not the general) wanted to write an entire book about the GOP's grifter consultant class.

Office Supplies:
RNC - $297,717.64
DNC - $45,005

Where are they buying these "office supplies" from? Colombian coke farms?

This is all horrible, horrible!

Limousines:
RNC - $263,127.25
DNC - $7,000

Voter File Maintenance:
RNC - $39,233.50
DNC - $235,865.88

GOTV Texts:
RNC - $86,019
DNC -$1,676,923.29

State Outlays:
RNC - $13,800,200
DNC - $23,835,437

Trump sat down with McDaniel to discuss her leadership:

Following RedState's reporting on questionable spending at the Republican National Committee between October 2022 and November 2023, and following interviews in which he seemed to indicate that a change is coming to the RNC, Donald Trump reportedly sat down with RNC chair Ronna McDaniel at Mar-a-Lago for more than two hours Monday to discuss the status of the party.

According to Politico, the meeting took place after Trump filmed an interview with Newsmax in which he said, "I think she knows that, I think she understands that," in response to a question from Rob Schmitt as to whether it was time for McDaniel to step aside.

She reported that Ronna McDaniel's chief of staff was resigning:

The morning after Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel met with Donald Trump for more than two hours about the status and future of the RNC, McDaniel's chief of staff announced that he will be leaving the RNC at the end of February.

Politico reported that Mike Reed made the announcement in a note to staff Tuesday morning:

In an email to staff on Tuesday, obtained by POLITICO, he said that he wanted to focus on his "growing family [that] needs and deserves my attention."

It's amazing how these guys can afford to neglect their families until they're caught in a controversy, and then realize they need to spend time with the wife and kids.

But I guess that resignation wasn't enough. Van Laar reports that McDaniel is also resigning:

Embattled Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel plans to resign after the South Carolina primary, the New York Times reported Tuesday evening.

The chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, Ronna McDaniel, has told former President Donald J. Trump she is planning to step down shortly after the South Carolina primary on Feb. 24, according to two people familiar with the plans.

I never cared either way about Ronna McDaniel. I mean, yes, she's incompetent, stupid, and a liberal, but I've come to expect that from the GOP brand.

Still, it's good she's out.

Maybe the GOP will finally embrace accountability instead of just constantly grifting from conservative voters.

100 What I find interesting about this, is that Trump comes off as too gentle. He lets people who are both incompetent and NOT loyal to him get away with it for too long.

Trump's big weakness is that he's loyal to people who blow smoke up his ass in person, even if they're demonstrably bad for him elsewhere. Very transactional, which makes sense in business to an extent but isn't a great idea in politics.

It's also why the Democrats are the stupidiest idiots on the planet. All they had to do was book a White House meeting and tell him how big his dick was and they could pass whatever they wanted.

The DNC is an actual political action committee that plays hardball -- and often Calvinball -- to get Democraps elected. I hate and despise and loathe the DNC with the heat of Poonhammer Powerthrust power-thrusting into Fani's bubbling cauldron. But the DNC is effective.

The RNC is . . . a money-laundering RICO grifting scheme of worthless cocksuckers and fucktards existing to fleece donors and enrich its members and their families. The RNC can suck my dick.

There is a rumor that Ukraine is asking to base the F16s we're giving them in Romania since they cannot protect them in Ukraine. That would mean that military assets, based in a NATO member country, are being used to attack Russian forces - and perhaps Russia.

The rumor did not state whether the Romanian government had told them to fuck off or not.

If I remember correctly, there is a primary vote, but it still goes to convention where the state level party bosses have, essentially, super-delegates that they used to push Romney over the line in 2018.

Essentially, he didn't win the actual primary last time, and he was going to lose it even worse this time to the point where the state level apparatus would have to completely invalidate the primary results to keep Romney on, which they'd probably do if pushed to it.

The modern lingo for the underlying phenomenon is "parasocial." A "parasocial" relationship is one where the consumer of the content (the "mark") believes that he has an actual relationship with the provider of the content (the "con man") on social media. The person really knows you and is in a relationship with you, mediated through social media.

That's how the market develops. The mark isn't buying foot pics, he's buying *her* foot pics - and *she* really knows who he is and everything.

"Parasocial relationships" are the big scale, internet version of a guy falling for strippers and waitresses, sure that they *really* do care about him!

Whitney Houston did a fine performance of the Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl so race of the singer isn't a consideration it seems.

341 RNC Chair McDaniel has offered to step down following South Carolina primary. I think she's had enough. They will likely pick a strong Trumpster as a replacement - and it will make the Republican party look incredibly awful to moderate/independent voters.

Offered resignation, or was THREATENED? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Ol Beezelbub (their Antichrist) strongly suggested (i.e. DEMANDED) that she step down days ago. And since few in the party have any SPINE she quickly obliged.

It might be House Speaker 2.0. Anyone qualified for the job knows not to take it. Some Trump bootlicker will get the job. The wheels will come off immediately...if they’re lucky, maybe they'll last til Election Day. After those losses 🤞the circular firing squad will go into full effect.

If party leaders had more sense and/spine they would have booted Trump when they had the chance. There would have been stamping of feet and crying, but ripping the bandaid off quickly might have spared them some election losses.

Fortunately for us, sense and vertebrae are both in low supply in conservative circles.

McConnell's been a destructive force at the top of the GOP since he took control of the caucus almost fifteen years ago. That the Senate GOP has not only tolerated his leadership but actively supported it through so much failure is a damnation of the Senate GOP as a whole.

They could have supported vigorous border enforcement through statute and funding every budget for fifteen years. Instead...they haven't even passed budgets.

Shocking absence of mental calculation technique. Even if you're bad at math, there are two obvious ways to solve this quickly that anyone who is not a total innumerate can do:

- You probably know 15*2 is 30, and 30*2 is easy. Break it into two pieces and find the solution almost instantly.
- You know that 5*2 is 10, and you know therefore that every two fifteens are three tens, and you know therefore that four fifteens are six tens, that six tens are 60. This is slower and more convoluted, but even easier. The answer will still be almost instant.

These are people who were apparently never taught *any* mental calculation strategies or the properties of arithmetic. This is indeed shocking, and a damnation of dominant teaching philosophy and practices.

Far too many GOP focus on muh principles as a substitute for action. Sort of like I am too good to fight as a funhouse mirror of 'turn the other cheek'. The problem though is that they NEVER fight but use principles as an argument to keep retreating.

I would expect that McClintock argued slippery slope, Biden is really responsible, etc. etc. and Mayorkas and his conduct does not rise to the constitutional standard of high crimes and misdemeanors.

Exactly.

He made a string of endorsement in AZ based on "stop the steal" and how much they wanted to run on that mantra and they ALL went down.

But Trump got to feel better about himself by having people repeat this.

487 The real problem with the RNC was never Ronna McDaniel (as RedState.com wants everyone to believe) but with the people who really run the RNC. Ace actually calls them out. They are conservative grifters. All the Republican Party cares about anymore are two key issues:
1) Who will pay them
2) How much can they get from the highest bidder

Key issues. Not to the benefit of America or it's constituents but to their offshore bank accounts, foreign investments with enemy nations and their own, damn back pockets. They are not a serious party and they haven't been in some time.

That was a decade ago or more and near as I can tell, very little if any of that water project money was allocated.

Posted by: whig at February 07, 2024 01:19 PM (ysVwb)

I admit, I sort of agree that the fight they should be having is Biden's impeachment.
In fact it should have been long ago voted on... like a couple months after grandma vodka gave up the gavel.
Two fake impeachments of Trump and these idiots holding on worried about slippery slopes just shows why we've conserved nothing.

O.K., Meaningless congressional hearings, investigations and impeachment proceedings that lead nowhere are all the GOP offers, with frowny faces and scolding "we have lost the culture" laments, while their corruption runs unchecked.

Many/most/all morons here get it: cut the money.

Start somewhere easy, like PBS/NPR.

If saving Our Democracy in Ukraine is worth it, a less-than-a-billion dollar no pay play is the real only opposition move left.

Shut down the government. Take back the budget.

504 What then is the excuse for Mike Pence? Or Bill Barr? Or James Comey? Or Reince Priebus? Or Christopher Wray? Or Fauci? etc.

The list just goes on and on of important roles Trump fucked up with.
Posted by: Blago
---------
Go back in time and you will find most people favoring Pence back in the day. Reince Priebus was the previous RNC chair that actually worked with the nominee. Chris Wray came from Chris Christie who was the first transition head. Comey was not Trump's appt and he fired him. Fauci was a civil servant that should have been fired by countless presidents for his evil works on
'AIDS' which includes GHWB, GWB, etc. The idiotic 6 ft rule came from the GWB gameplanning an epidemic and a child's science project was introduced by one of the participants. Bill Barr was GHWB's Atty General.

Blago, you would get a lot further if you are in fact a Republican by getting rid of your Trump derangement and recognize that the whole damn pool of GOP appointees is corrupted beyond belief. People like McCain, Romney, GWB, GHWB, etc. and their apparatchiks never liked common people nor GOP voters.

Nothing has been proven. The one claim I will agree with is voting "day of" caused delays. Because Kari Lake told people to vote day of and not early. People that were likely voting for Lake, went home (because they're lazy).

You can't award an election to someone that go fewer votes based on "they probably would have voted for Kari Lake had the line been shorter".

Last Republican Governor won by double digits, long lines were not a problem for him.

I'm convinced that Steele was a Donk commie cocksucker mole from the beginning of his political career. He said all the right things until he could slither his way into the RNC head office, and then he did a total 180 in his rhetoric and sounded like Nancy Pelosi with an adam's apple.

Posted by: IllTemperedCur at February 07, 2024 01:39 PM (n+4am)

514 My personal feeling is that we need to get Vivek into the spot in charge of the RNC, so he can start bringing the pain to the squishes, straighten out the accounting, and be a loud public attack dog, but it's very fair to say that he can do so much more than just that. Other candidates worth considering include Mike Lindell (who's just not MEAN enough for my tastes, but undeniably has the business acumen and is a true Patriot). Whoever it is desperately needs to not be a milquetoast, however.

520 Take it from a finance/accounting person:

no one wants to see those uselessly detailed numbers (with pennies!)

show this instead:

Floral Arrangements:
RNC - $70.3k
DNC - $0.7k

Also - is $1MM that much money? $1MM is 10 low-paid people in DC, or 5 well-paid people, for 1 yr's work.

I'm not saying there's no waste... but these are not giant numbers.
