The Saturday Night Joke Or Is It?

British Medical Journal

There is a medical distinction between “Guts” and “Balls”.

We've heard colleagues referring to people with “Guts”, or with “Balls”.

Do they, however, know the difference between them?

Here’s the official distinction; straight from the British Medical Journal: Volume 323; page 295.

GUTS - Is arriving home late, after a night out with the lads, being met by your wife with a broom, and having the “Guts” to ask: “Are you still cleaning, or are you flying somewhere?”

BALLS - Is coming home late after a night out with the lads, smelling of perfume and beer, lipstick on your collar, slapping your wife on the bum and having the “Balls” to say: 'You're next, Chubby.'

I trust this clears up any confusion.

Medically speaking, there is no difference in outcome; both are fatal.

Moar Humor A guide to living the right way.

24 COMMANDMENTS FOR SENIORS 29 year olds; as you get older you need more than 10.

1. The ability to speak several languages is an asset, but the ability to keep your mouth shut in any language is priceless.

2. Be decisive. Right or wrong, make a decision. The road is paved with flat squirrels who couldn’t make a decision.

3. When I get a headache, I take two aspirin and keep away from children just like the bottle says.

4. Just once, I want the prompt for username and password to say, “Close enough.”

5. Becoming an adult is the dumbest thing I’ve ever done

6. If you see me talking to myself, just move along. I’m self-employed. We’re having a meeting.

7. “Your call is very important to us. Please enjoy this 40-minute flute solo."

8. Does anyone else have a plastic bag full of plastic bags, or is it just me?

9. I hate it when I can’t figure out how to operate the iPad and my tech support guy is asleep. He’s 5 and it’s past his bedtime.

10. Today’s 3-year-olds can switch on laptops and open their favorite apps. When I was 3, I made mud pies.

11. Tip for a successful marriage: Don’t ask your wife when dinner will be ready while she’s mowing the lawn.

12. So, you drive across town to a gym to walk on a treadmill?

13. Old age is coming at a really bad time.

14. If God wanted me to touch my toes, He would've put them on my knees.

15. Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators. We haven't met yet.

16. Why do I have to press one for English when you're just going to transfer me to someone I can't understand anyway?

17. Now, I'm wondering . . . did I send this to you, did you send it to me or have I only sent it to myself.

18. I don't need anger management. I need people to stop irritating you.

19. My people skills are just fine. It's my tolerance for idiots that needs work.

20. "On time" is, when you get there.

21. Even duct tape can't fix stupid – but it sure does muffle the sound.

22. It would be wonderful if we could put ourselves in the dryer for ten minutes, then come out wrinkle-free...and three sizes smaller.

23. Lately, you've noticed people your age are so much older than you.

24. "One for the road" means peeing before you leave the house.

Jean Shorts Send Woman To Hospital With Life-Threatening Wedgie

Fashion is so important to some people that they will sacrifice comfort for style. That's what one woman did and because of it, her choice of shorts wound up sending her to the hospital.

In a video on TikTok, a 25-year-old from North Carolina named Sam explains how she wore tight jean shorts on a full-day-long date with a guy she recently met. She reveals that she had "a wedgie for 8 hours," but she didn't think much of it until the next day, when she woke up with a really sore butt.

She wrote it off but it didn't go away and as days went on, she felt more and more sick, eventually going to a doctor. Her physician gave her antibiotics for a possible skin infection on her rear. Unfortunately, the medicine didn't help her and the next day, she felt so bad that she couldn't even walk due to a stabbing pain in her behind. It hurt so much that she went to the ER, where she was admitted into the ICU with what doctors diagnosed as a bacterial skin infection called cellulitis, which had led to life-threatening

"What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" is a slogan but not the truth. It really is that simple.

A felon who pleaded guilty to biting a cop proceeded to beat another inmate – in the same courtroom where a man recently jumped at a judge.

Dustin Langham, 18, was sitting next to fellow inmate Berdon Bridge in Clark County District Court when Langham got up suddenly and began pounding Bridge who was seated in front of him, shows a video obtained by KLAS.

Yelling could be heard including curse words beeped out, and a people could be heard demanding, ‘sit down’.

Court marshals and corrections officers separated the men and handcuffed Langham on the ground. Bridge was escorted away by officers and the other inmates in the Las Vegas courtroom were also led out.

Business cards are important. Business cards with samples: Genius AwardWinning.

FEBRUARY 7--In an apparent bid to drum up customers for his drug business, a Canadian man handed out business cards with a small sample of cocaine attached, police allege.

According to cops, Seyyed Amir Razavi, 30, distributed the cards outside a casino in Calgary (where Razavi resides).

Investigators learned of the cards in late-December and launched a probe that resulted in the February 3 arrest of Razavi on narcotics possession and trafficking charges.

A police search of Razavi’s auto and residence yielded 50 baggies of cocaine, a digital scale with drug residue, and $1280 in cash. Cops also seized a box of business cards with the name “Alex Lee.”

Feb 11 is a notable day. It's one of 4 days per tropical year that are extrema of the Equation of Time. Feb 11th is the global minimum, -14 min and 15s. This means loca high noon is about 15 minutes behind local mean noon.

And being a minimum, the true solar day is exactly 24 hours long.

Not recommended, unless you have a LOT of slats to distribute the mattress support over the entire mattress!

37 The cocaine guy with a small sample on his card was a marketing genius. New users are hard to come by. Plus you can judge the quality of the product before you buy. It's like Costco or Sam's Club with the free samples. Enticements lead to impulse buys..

Most people think that a mattress is too soft, or saggy without a box spring, but YMMV. Go back 100 years or more and no one had such a thing.

If the slats are the thin (about an inch or less) boards, never step on the bed for any reason. Just a moment of pressure concentrated in a small area is enough to break those things. Even if it's through the mattress.

73 It was a day of gobsmacking stories breaking on X. One of the biggest was that the IDF revealed that they had found a tunnel complex with an extremely sophisticated electronic communications and server system, which also functioned as a central communications center for the entire military network. 117 I was watching Williamson interview Hannah Barnes who is a BBC reporter who had a groundbreaking report on "The Collapse Of The UK’s Gender Identity Clinic" and it is fascinating.

She's a lefty, working for a lefty org, that is part of the reason behind all this tran-sanity. And she's trying so so hard to minimize just how bad it is but I give her credit in tha she is sharing the facts.

For example, the big English "gender clinic" up until 2011 or so most deal with teen boys and mostly did therapy, aka talking, with them. At that point the government/NGOs leaned on them and they agreed to a test group of boys to try hormone blockers on....but then before they got any results just started giving them out like candy. And when girls started coming because the tran-sanity spread they started giving it to them as well.

Are hormone blocking drugs safe? The British government's official answer is "we don't know". Does giving kids these drugs show any improvement over the old "talk through it therapy"? No.

But no one will go to jail. No one will be fired. No one will even get a particularly bad news story on them personally.

153 Philippe Lazzarini @UNLazzarini
- UNRWA did not know what is under its headquarters in Gaza.

- UNRWA is made aware of reports through the media regarding a tunnel under the UNRWA Headquarters in Gaza.

- UNRWA staff left its headquarters in Gaza City on 12 October following the Israeli evacuation orders and as bombardment intensified in the area.

- We have not used that compound since we left it nor are we aware of any activity that may have taken place there.

- We understand, through media reporting, that the Israeli Army has deployed troops within the UNRWA Headquarters in Gaza City.

- We are therefore unable to confirm or otherwise comment on these reports.

- In times of “no active conflict” UNRWA inspects inside its premises every quarter, the last inspection for the UNRWA Gaza premises was completed in September 2023.

- UNRWA is a Human development and humanitarian organisation that does not have the military and security expertise nor the capacity to undertake military inspections of what is or might be under its premises.

Posted by: andycanuck (2yu8s) at February 10, 2024 10:36 PM (2yu8s)

154 - In the past, whenever suspicious cavity was found close to or under UNRWA premises, protest letters were promptly filed to parties to the conflict, including both the de facto authorities in Gaza (Hamas) and the Israeli authorities. The matter was consistently reported in annual reports presented to the General Assembly and made public.

- These recent media reports merit an independent inquiry that is currently not possible to undertake given Gaza is an active war zone.

- The Israeli Authorities have not informed UNRWA officially about the alleged tunnel.

1.) They keep Bidumb on the ticket. They do this for all the reasons that they ran Fetterman and a Dead Guy in PA in 2020; to prove that regardless of how many votes we get that they can pull a corpse across the finish line with Buicks full of Chinese printed Ballots.

2.) The Hildabeest takes Bidumb's place. Everyone else on the left is afraid to cross her or they have their own reasons for not running. Newsom has to cheat just to beat the recall in CA, and he can't even beat the Republican B-teamer of DeSantis in a debate. Hochul and Whitmer are both afraid to go outside for fear that a house might drop out of the sky and fall on them. Big Mike is too busy drowning people who had a glimpse of his dick while he was dressing. Nancy Pelosi is too busy getting hammered with her husband. Rao’s decision to jump into the race began with a kind of break up. She describes her early political life as a romance with Democrats. The courtship started with her first vote for Bill Clinton in 1996 and a ficus plant named Hillary. . .
That all changed after the election of President Donald Trump.

“Post 2016, it became clear to me that the corporate wing of the Democratic Party wasn’t interested in my issues, specifically, so issues of racial justice,” she said. “I was asking, ‘What are we doing about DACA? What are we doing to make communities of color feel safe?’ And it was crickets.”

Those feelings led Rao to publish a breakup note with the Democrats in the Huffington Post. It declared the party had married white women while hooking up with women of color on the side. After her story went viral, Rao realized she had a choice: either walk away or do something about it.

264 Evening, MisHum and Horde. My coffee maker is gurgling happily in the kitchen. When I made a pot this morning, it took forever to get one cup. Time for a cleaning. Ran some vinegar through, but it never ran through. Upped the ante with some hydrochloric acid, cut with water; some encouragement. Added a little more acid, turned on the heat. Pop! All the acid and water ran out onto the counter. A silicone hose had popped off the coil. Took the coil out of the machine (it's sort of an omega shape), and rodded it out with several drill bits. Flushed it with more acid over the sink. Passage seems clear. Reassembled it, and running a dilute acid wash through it now. Will follow up with two loads of plain water.

287 The Republic of Ireland (Southern Ireland), is not a part of Great Britain, and time was, a great hatred simmered in the Micks, hoping that their kin could drive the hated Brits out of the Six Counties (Northern Ireland), purge the Protestants and have their own island back, whole.

(this is the romanticized version, of yore.)

Fact is, Southern Ireland was SO drilled into by communism, that *any* blow that could be landed against Crown and King, was considered "good", no matter the facts to the contrary.

Hence, their WWII under-the-table support of Germany, in so many forms and ways.

Hitler invading Russia really cranked THAT particular applecart, right onto it's side.

But, the echoes of this carry to this day. Ireland pisses on Israel, as Israel is aligned with Conservative America, tradtional King and Crown Tory England, and the universe of Western Values and Enlightenment, as we know it.

Yeah, Ireland produced many great lawyers and orators. But, also. Bloody terrorists against all that is whole, and safe, and good. Terrorists DO TEND to bond to their own kind, hence, their pro Hamas bent.

Well, there was an inch of murky acid in the carafe. Ran cold water, and poured that down the drain. Put the carafe back on the plate, and poured two bottles of drinking water into the tank, and water immediately began to perk through the filter basket. I will let those 2 bottles run through, and do two more. Any traces of HCl left will be diluted by about a thousand to one. So less strong than human stomach acid, by far.

Yup. Giving up everything you enjoy in life, sacrificing your hopes dreams goals and desires, and suppressing yourself and giving up on life just so you can be a production unit for ungrateful people who don't give a tuppenny fuck about you is very very dumb. "Adulthood" is living death.

303 Hoping for a break in the rain tomorrow, so I can check radiator level in pickup...

AOP, I don't know if anti-freeze mixture was good enough to resist the super freeze we got a couple weeks ago. Truck is parked on grass, so cannot tell if any leakage.

Besides checking at coolant recovery reservoir and radiator, is there any other way to tell if coolant froze/drained?

Don't know if freeze-plugs (if any on this unit) would even be visible from either above or below. Have only owned this truck for a little over one year...

304 I'm watching Michael Knowles debate three feminists and it is interesting.

He brings up the fact as feminism has increased in power in American women's reported happiness has gone down.

One feminist opposing him argues that's just because women were too dumb to know how bad they had it.

But then another one argues that's because having children makes you unhappy (note women have fewer children now then before feminism) so...I mean...she's kind of making the first feminist's point in an odd way.

They continue then making the point that "justice" is more important then happiness anyway. One wonders how successful the feminist movement in the US would have been if they made that argument from the get go

Probably a 350? Should have frost plugs visible from below. If you some antifreeze protection, but not quite enough, the mixture may gel before it freezes solid, which won't hurt the engine as long as you don't start it at that time.

I'd check the coolant in the rad, if you can. And don't be too surprised if it seems low. Just add a little 50/50 mix, and run the engine, and check for leaks. If you have an antifreeze hydrometer, check the strength of the coolant once it has circulated for a few minutes.

309 Thank you, AOP!

I'll check tomorrow. Haven't needed truck since before Christmas, nor moved it since last use.

If rad is low, will have a look underneath after topping off and starting...

Knowles turned to her and said "Didn't you say a bunch of law firms turned you down over your other career. Does that mean that feminism really did what you think it did?"

And...he did it with a smile but...oww...

The past couple of hours, I got off on a tangent of reading up on the history of what became The Internet. It started with "ARPANET", Darpa/Defense project for a fault tolerant packet-switched network (which was originally judged to be a crazy idea).

Back the late '60s and '70s, the foundation for what became the Internet was laid. Those guys had no clue, no idea, how well and to what degree their little crazy project was going to scale....

The done good, but at the time, they had no idea of how good they were really doing it. There was stuff they could've done better if they'd known how big it was going to be, but they didn't know. But what they did do was just amazing.

FTP and so forth... PINE email...

So loooonnnng ago.

382 363 Plenty to love about okra! Indeed, much of that whole Malvaceae family

Yes indeed! My white okra didn't take, and I only bought a spoonful of seeds. I think I have 8 left, and I may plant them in the raised bed. That's what I did with the burgundy okra last summer and I got a a few cups of seeds from a handful of plants. Damn things grew 7 ft high. Beautiful. Far from the other okra in the garden, several hundred feet away, so they should be fine.

384 365 it always seems too early until you realize it’s already overdue.

Our last frost date is the first week of May, and I've found that starting tomato seeds indoors around March 30 always works out fine.

Now it's herb time. Parsley and other exotica.

385 Miley, I'd use those purple tomatoes as garnish on salads. Probably wouldn't hold color during cooking? So few veggies do...

Doubt we'll have much garden this year. Just not enough time or space to devote.

386 I'm gonna plant a little less corn that I did last year. That nearly killed me.

Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at February 11, 2024 03:22 AM (w6EFb)

It nearly killed both of us. 25 foot rows this time, dear heart!

Ha! Nah, I think they need direct sowing. Which I didn't do. They died after transplant (into the raised bed).

389 Hubby always wants me to plant corn. We don't have room for it anymore...

It's the least-efficient crop, space-wise, AFAIK

390 Miley, I've transplanted okra successfully--

Got to t-plant while it's still very tiny, like within a week of sprouting. Roots are very sensitive!

Posted by: JQ at February 11, 2024 04:10 AM (njWTi)

391 Corn can be transplanted too-- keeps the damned rodents from digging it up--

Pre-sprout on damp paper towels, like ya did in the 70s with potseeds. Then, plant in soil & let grow for 2-3 weeks before planting out.
