"The Border Never Closes:" Democrat Senator Chris Murphy Admits The Border "Deal," Which Biden Claims Authorizes Him to Close the Border, Will Never, Ever Close the Border

Chris Murphy brags about how pro-immigration the "deal" is. I believe this part of it.

Chris Murphy
@ChrisMurphyCT

Minutes ago, the text of the bipartisan national security funding bill was released. It:

-funds Ukraine, Israel, and humanitarian relief
-secures our border and reforms our asylum law

1/ As the co-author of the immigration provisions, here's a THREAD on the key elements:

2/ First - it would be easy to just keep immigration and border policy as a political cudgel for another 40 years. But politics at its best is about finding bipartisan compromise on the toughest issues. That's what we've done here.

Here's a snapshot of what's in the bill.

It's "bipartisan" because Corporate Fake Republicans like McConnell and Lankford and Thune and Corwyn are and always have been open borders fanatics who must be driven from office if the Republic is to be saved.

Chris Murphy
@ChrisMurphyCT

3/ A quicker, fairer asylum process. No more 10 yr wait. Claims processed in a non-detained, non-adversarial way in 6 months.

Non-adversarial proceedings = no one checking the illegals' fake claims of political persecution which makes them eligible for asylum.

As Brett Weinstein said (see the sidebar), these illegal aliens make no claims of political persecution when en route to the US. They all admit they're crossing the border for economic reasons. It's only when they get to the border and are given a guide to defrauding the US government and its citizens by leftwing Soros-funded NGOs that they discover they're supposed to lie and claim they're seeking political asylum.

A slightly higher asylum screening standard at the border.

"Slightly." LOL.

Also, no more waiting for work permits. Most asylum seekers can work immediately.

So there's even more incentive to illegally cross the border and make false political asylum claims?

4/ A brand new right to legal representation for all immigrants. Remember when Trump denied lawyers to victims of the Muslim ban? Never again.

Perfect! No one can be denied entry again -- and if we do deny a terrorist entry, we have to pay for their lawyer to fight the denial.

And...the first ever government paid-for lawyers for young unaccompanied minors. A long standing injustice righted.

Boy this "deal" sure seems awfully stacked on the "benefits for illegals" side of the "deal."

Here's "the border never closes" line: He makes it clear that even when illegals exceed 5,000 per day (or 150,000 per 30-day month, 20,000 higher than the absolute peak monthly illegal immigration under Trump), the border is not closed. Illegals are just processed at official ports of entry rather than ad hoc at the border.

5/ A requirement the President to funnel asylum claims to the land ports of entry when more than 5,000 people cross a day. The border never closes, but claims must be processed at the ports.

It's not even closing the border, as Biden has repeatedly claimed it was -- it's just "funneling" the illegals to official points of entry, where the law already requires aliens to enter through.

Now Murphy admits that this power merely to "funnel" illegals to ports of entry is only usable a "limited number of days per year."

This allows for a more a more orderly, humane asylum processing system.

6/ But...important checks on that power. It can only be used for a limited number of days per year. It sunsets in 3 years. Emergency cases that show up in between the ports still need to be accepted. The ports must process a minimum of 1400 claims a day.

Ah-ha! Even when Biden "closes the border," which Murphy admits never happens, but instead just results in claims being processed at ports of entry, exceptions are still made for "emergency cases!"

And all of these people are already lying about being political asylum seekers! But they'll never be coached into also claiming "emergency" status, huh?

This nasty skull-faced catamite James Lankford is in full-court lying mode:

Sen. James Lankford
@SenatorLankford

The Border Emergency Authority has been the most misunderstood or maybe just misrepresented parts of the bill. Some people have said it would mean 5,000 people a day are coming into the country every day. That is absurd and untrue

The emergency authority is not designed to let 5,000 people in, it is designed to close the border and turn 5,000 people around.

Really?

itsinthebill5000.jpg

Where is the language about turning this 5000/day away from the border? It's not there. You mean that if there are more than 5000 per day, that excess can be turned away -- but your Democrat co-conspirator Chris Murphy admits that doesn't result in anyone being turned away, but merely "funneled to ports of entry."

And setting a 5,000/per day level as "acceptable" is encoding into law the idea that around 2 million illegals per year (5000 x 365) are permitted to enter the country illegally without suffering any consequence.

This disreputable scumbag continues:

The Border Emergency Authority only lasts 3 yrs to force this Admin to shut down the border & to give time for the next POTUS to hire more agents & more officers. After three years, the emergency authority expires because we should have regained full control of our border by then

Yeahhhhhhh right.

I don't want to start any rumors, but James Lankford looks like the kind of guy who funnels illegal trespassers into his own ports of entry, if you catch my meaning.

langfordpussyskinny.jpg

Julio Rosas
@Julio_Rosas11

I've been covering the border since 2019 and this border bill is exactly what's wrong with how D.C. tries to "fix" a problem: Spends more money, gives more power to the feds, and doesn't actually solve the problem.

Again, a bill from Congress is not needed to solve the acute problem at the border. Biden just needs to undo the executive orders he signed on day one. The historic influx of illegal immigrants was started by the policies his administration has recklessly pursued.

Nick Searcy, iNSURRECTIONAL FILM & TELEVISION STAR
@yesnicksearcy

You are compromised and you have been exposed. No one will ever believe you again.

Mike Johnson restates: this bill says "the border never closes," despite Biden's and Lankford's claims to the contrary, and is dead on arrival.

Speaker Mike Johnson
@SpeakerJohnson

I've seen enough. This bill is even worse than we expected, and won't come close to ending the border catastrophe the President has created. As the lead Democrat negotiator proclaimed: Under this legislation, "the border never closes."

If this bill reaches the House, it will be dead on arrival.

Neoliberal tough-guy Dan Crenshaw, on the other hand, is mocking people opposed to the bill, calling their claims "bizarre."

Dan Crenshaw
@DanCrenshawTX
Unfortunately there's a lot of emotion about this border deal and no analysis of the facts by people who should know better. Many people (who are apparently very fast readers!) have already tweeted completely false statements about the legislation.

Gonna be a great week, lol!

"lol." Fucking scumbag.

Tune in for an objective look at this border deal as I read through it. Just facts. Not emotion.

It's important to address some of the more bizarre concerns right away.

"Why do we need new laws? Isn't current law enough?"

Obviously we do need new laws. That's why Republicans passed HR2, which was mostly new immigration law. Those advocating for HR2 can't also claim we don't need new laws. This bill isn't HR2, but my simple standard will be "does it decrease illegal immigration or not?"

And if we didn't need new laws, why was immigration so out of control even when Trump was President? Our laws have too many loopholes. Trump had to make an international agreement with Mexico to get the border under control.

It surprises me that I have to say this, but I will: WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO RELY ON MEXICO TO SECURE OUR BORDER.

We should be able to rely on laws that are clear enough so that no President can bypass them.

This is so stupid -- people are saying "we don't need new laws" to rebut Biden's claim he needs legal authority to enforce the border. He already has that authority -- he is currently choosing not to use that authority.

He wants goodies for illegals in exchange for... well, for nothing. While this bill gives him the authority to close the border -- I mean, funnel illegals to ports of entry -- when and only when illegal crossings exceed 5000 per day, nothing in the law requires him to exercise this authority.

We are granting Biden and Schumer everything they want, and in exchange, we give Biden discretionary authority to close the border -- I mean, funnel illegals to ports of entry -- if he feels like using it.

Thusfar in his presidency, he has not chosen to enforce the border at all. He's actually taken Texas to court for daring to seal off parts of their own border!

Why would Eyepatch John McCain think he can lie to us and make us believe Biden's going to become Joe Border Hawk with this discretionary authority?

Which is barely any new authority at all! If more than 5000 illegals cross in one day, Biden can -- if he feels like it -- "funnel excess illegals to official ports of entry."

How does this help protect the border?

It doesn't. It makes it officially open.

And fuck this neocon cunt for pretending otherwise.

Is there no one in his district who will man up and run against him?

9 Crenshaw hits GOP colleagues opposed to border deal: ‘The height of stupidity’. “I’m extremely disappointed in the very strange maneuvering by many on the right to torpedo a potential border reform bill. That’s what we all ran on doing,” Crenshaw continued. “If we have a bill that, on net, significantly decreases illegal immigration, and we sabotage that, that is inconsistent with what we told our voters we would do.” “It would be a pretty unacceptable dereliction of your duty,” Crenshaw said.

“There are some in the Senate and in the House who are desperately trying to sabotage it for other reasons. Maybe they think that securing the border would help [President] Biden politically. Which, of course it would, but I want to secure the border. That’s what I told my voters I would do,” Crenshaw said.

Asked about Trump, though, Crenshaw told a CNN reporter to not “create some kind of drama here.”

“Stop instigating against border security,” Crenshaw said. “If the bill sucks, the bill sucks. But we don’t know if the bill sucks.”

17 Democrats think this bill is a COMPROMISE.

This fight illustrates why Biden chooses to ignore faithful execution of law, and instead acts like a King. He cannot get Congress to pass a law allowing him to do what he's been doing, so he just ramps up HIS illegality, because he knows no one can stop him.

Our system depends on virtuous people faithfully executing our duly-passed laws. What we have is rampant criminality.

34 ChatGPT: Does the new immigration bill actually shutdown the border ?

The new immigration bill does not completely shut down the border. Instead, it aims to enhance border security and address challenges related to migration. The bill includes provisions to tighten the asylum system, improve infrastructure, and manage the record-high crossings at the southern border. While it seeks to strengthen security measures, it does not result in a complete closure of the border.

.. the first sentence is factual (for the most part) and the remainder is political nonsense

69 The bill gives Biden the authority to turn off the 5,000 illegals a day portion of the bill.

The bill gives power to Mayorkas, or whoever is in his seat, to grant asylum claims. No court necessary.

The bill makes DC Circuit Court the court of any judicial arbitration. If you want to declare the law unconstitutional, you don't take it to SCOTUS. You take it to DC court.

Pushing a turd log of this size with basically no redeeming features, one you'd like to think doomed to fail can only further rile the base and put the spotlight on the specifics.

Who does that hurt the most?

Then again with cvcks like Eyepatch walking the fine line maybe the Dims will be able to blame the illegal invasion on those "extremist" MAGAites and their "obstruction" though I doubt it.

Illegal immigration has been a problem forever and at peak awful the last 3+ years and now you push a "solution" in an election year and now it's MAGA's problem? Yeah right.

That's before we get to billions for NGO's helping to hide these people. He doesn't even admit the president has the ability to stop it without a bill. Not a word about the wall or border security.

The federal government is currently aiding and abetting the illegal invasion of our country ... and lying about it!

In far too many districts, the voters are ignorant, not stupid but lack the means of getting alternative information. Thus, that is why the GOP Uniparty participates and approves of censoring social media. They already have teh MSM and Conservative Media TM (paid propaganda by uniparty donors) in the bag.

This 'Border Control Bill' continues the DC tactic, of making a law to make an actual problem, the legal norm.

It's like the Fed Res bank saying the GOAL is 'only' 3% inflation per yer... due to compound interest, that is 80% decrease in buying power over 20 years.

So, stealing 80% your savings over 20 years, is now the STANDARD they want to attain... its a goal.

218 > Dodgeball really holds up. Hilarious.

The most hilarious part of Dodgeball is the hissy fit the Director put on film when he was forced to change his ending.

When they roll out the treasure box, it says "Deus Ex Machina" on it. That's there because the director wanted the team to lose, but audience reaction got the studio nervous. They forced him to change the ending. The Director had a hissy fit because he's a true auteur and his vision was being muddled.

Think about it:
1. He threw a hissy fit over this
2. He thought DODGEBALL was art, not a silly comedy with loads of middle school humor

That's real comedy.

I don't believe either claim for many reasons.

For one, China already senses weakness. Our POTUS is the weakest person in office the nation has ever seen. Also, I don't believe Russia has the economic base to support a march across Europe. Even if they did, it's not our problem.

You passing on your pronouncements on how stupid and low class everyone is solves nothing.

we laugh at the DU because they say what they think is required for their self image. Are you saying what is expected too?
I suspect you are, and it pisses me off, because actual thought is required to solve problems. Posturing doesn't solve a thing though it allows the "correct" definition of the problem. Which can also hide any possible solution as well.

to do a call-back to illustrate my point: as Orwell originally wrote the book, Winston Smith defines his problem, "2+2=" but he can never find the correct answer, because the correct answer violates what he has come to internalize. He cannot shake off the required answer even if it is wrong. "it cannot be solved because the approved answer, even if wrong, is required" He understand the approved answer is wrong and he is forbidden to think it. As such he is forever a prisoner of IngSoc even in his mind.

This pisses me off.

They lie about the numbers currently coming over the "secure" border. Nothing is stopping them from saying "There we only 4, 999 people crossing the border today.

This is simply an attempt to shift blame to the GOP now that their Cloward-Piven strategy, as it relates to border security, blows up in their faces.

They're not genuinely outraged.

377 I have been plowing through this bill and I have concluded it primarily benefits Ukraine and the illegal alien invasion by legalizing the lawlessness Biden has caused to happen for the last three years. If this bill goes through it is not inconceivable in a decade or so 25% of the US population will be non citizens. That will work out well.

378 > The draftees that I know fought just as well and just as hard as enlistees. What some people here say about draftees is disgusting.

I don't doubt many fought well and bravely. It's in your self interest to do so. Anyone who did deserves respect.

I wasn't there, but from people I know who were, draftees were more likely to fight with authority. They were more likely to not follow rules and regulations if they weren't being supervised closely. They were more likely to commit serious crimes that got them discharged.
They were more likely to get home and assist in the political movement that hurt the population's political will and got people killed in theater.

But this is all second hand information. If you have personal knowledge, then you almost certainly know better than I.

380 The draftees that I know fought just as well and just as hard as enlistees. What some people here say about draftees is disgusting.

What I am saying about draftees is pretty simple. They were forced to fight, to the death, in a war they didn't volunteer for.

384 That’s nice, but history tells us a conscript army will not fight as hard as one that is a volunteer army and is sure of its cause.
Posted by: Catch Thirty-Thr33 at February 05, 2024 05:10 PM (CNd16)

That's bullshit and you know it. You seem to forget that many in the Roman legions were forced into conscription. And they were unbeatable for a long long time. Same for Genghis Kahn. Even more recently are the militaries of WWII.

Even during the George Floyd Riots, the arson and looting never left the bounds of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. They stayed out of certain neighborhoods too.

People know their neighbors and neighborhoods in the suburbs.

396 When did Trump ban Muslims from visiting the country?

People from Indonesia, among other places in the Dar al-Islam, never had any issue entering the country when Trump was president. Now, yes, there were something like 10 countries people couldn’t come from, but that’s because they weren’t vetting their travelers, or couldn’t (like Syria).

397 McCain and Dem Senator Lieberman were best buddies - had the exact same position on every issue across the board.

McCain was basically a Liberal Democrat that was always for US military intervention everywhere.

That's Dan Crenshaw today. So, yeah, "Eyepatch McCain" is a good tag for him.

Lindsay Graham is pretty similar, with the added "bonus" of occasionally being a sellout on the Judiciary committee - voted in favor of Biden's nominees when Feinstein was AWOL, for instance.
