The whole decriminalization effort in Oregon was funded by Soros, and one of the main public faces for decriminalization is someone named Morgan Godvin, a passably attractive white female who is incredibly mendacious.
In a recent article on Oregon decriminalization, she explained that: Jailed, strip searched and branded a felon at the age of 23 for the high crime of having a speck of drugs in my pocket, I viscerally understand the harms of criminalization. Long after my release from prison She didn't go to prison for "having a speck of drugs in my pocket" - she went to prison for selling heroin to a friend of her, who died from an overdose from the drugs she sold him. She still thinks that it was incredibly, incredibly unfair that she was held responsible for killing someone. Posted by: The ARC of History! at January 31, 2024 10:16 PM (YAtuc) 61

The FBI has always known the identity of the J5/6 Bomber. He is a retired Air Force Master SGT with a security clearance who is a government Contractor. Kyle Seraphim was told not to interview him when he was in the FBI. The license of the car and the Metro ticket (and I'm sure, his phone number) all traced to the above person. No wonder the FBI dropped the investigation. I'll bet he's a BATFE contractor, since explosives were the only way the BATFE could get in on the Jan 6th Reichstag Fire fraud, since Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms were unlikely to do them any good.

The Economist magazine, the newsletter of the WEF, explains that the Israelis dressing up as doctors and nurses to assassinate the three terrorists hiding in a hospital, is, of course, a war crime.
Within ten minutes they are gone. Israel says it eliminated three terrorists during the raid on January 30th and staved off a major attack which was imminent. But disguising combatants as medical personnel probably breaks international law, which prohibits “perfidy”. It's just astonishing - Hamas is allowed to do whatever it wants, including using hospitals as terrorist headquarters and arms depots, but of course it is Israel that must absolutely comply with alleged international law, no matter what Hamas does. The abortion issue is one the Republicans can easily address. But they'd have to spend money. They need to roll out an ad campaign that sidesteps abortion and talks up birth control. Make the discussion birth control, not abortion. Responsibility, taking control, planning ahead, all done in a clever and attractive way.
Posted by: Juan Valdez at January 31, 2024 11:03 PM (W/lyH) 201
Montec, it isn't moot, it's a life. You can disagree but that doesn't change the fact that abortion terminates a life.
Maybe the laws can't protect every life, well, we know they can't. But if abortion were more limited then people might think twice about unprotected sex. For crying out loud, there's birth control available everywhere. Posted by: TecumsehTea at January 31, 2024 10:51 PM (JrYM1) I disagree. I don’t think in the heat of the moment many people think about abortion laws. But since abortion is a state thing, it’s moot legally. If your state bans abortions a state or two over won’t. The median age of the US population is around 38. Just think of the indoctrination these people have been subjected to throughout their life. They will never change their minds or their votes concerning abortion. We want it to disappear with all our hearts, but the reality is, to a huge percentage of these people, it's as normal as sex itself. And they (especially single females) will fight with all their might to keep it that way. Especially at the polls.

The left is always convinced they can make a stupid thing work and when the stupid thing doesn't work, it's because everyone is not believing hard enough or something is wrong with the universe. Much if not most of the left believes reality is malleable and just getting everyone to believe "right thoughts" will make them real. Yamamoto's plane crashed on Bougainville Island within the thick jungle of Papua New Guinea's autonomous Bougainville region. It had been gunned down by a flight of US twin engine'd P-38 Lighting fighters who's mission was a result of breaking the Japanese radio codes and knowing that Yamamoto was flying into the region to inspect island fortifications. The plan was to send multiple fighters to overwhelm his fighter escorts' and shoot his plane down which they did and Yamamoto died as a result. His wrecked plane has now become a tourist attraction on the island.

I was watching a video where the youtuber was talking about the rise of NPCism and he trying, and succeeding, at not making it partisan.
He talked about various causes from the rise of information bubbles to how your brain WANTS to consume information that validates your existing views which are both true. At the end he suggests that one way to avoid becoming an NPC is to truly THINK about "the other side's take on an issue" ESPECIALLY if you feel an emotional response. Bringing this back to the abortion debate, this is something I've almost never seen someone that supports abortion do. Take the nominal leading pro-abortion argument - an unborn child isn't a human being its just some clump of cells not worthy of human rights. As someone that is more on the pro-life side that has argued this issue for a long time I've considered this view point. The science refutes it and that whole "precautionary principle" the left supposedly believes in does as well...but I'm run through the though process. And I'm in no way unusual in this regard. Ask these women how many abortions they think occur in this country every year. I guarantee you they have NO idea of that number.
Tell them it's almost 1 million, and SOME of them will rethink their opinion. Texas has gone from almost 50,000 abortions a year to (I believe I heard) less than 100 "medically necessary" (life of the mother) abortions since the issue of Roe v Wade was returned to the states. But, hey, obviously all of those women think it's A-OK to murder all of those black and brown babies (who make up 2/3 of the abortions performed every year)..... 1. The 2020 (and probably 2022) election was fraudulent 2. Polls are crap and published to shape policy, not reflect it 3. White suburban women who will not give up their abortions are costing Republicans elections Well, if elections are fraudulent, how the heck are we supposed to know who actually voted? Same goes for polls. Personally, I believe #1 and 2 are true, and that the demographic for #3 is too small (think about how *specific* it is) to lose elections. For future reference, the correct NASA-speak term for the means of mating Cygnus to the ISS is berthing, not docking. A vehicle or payload is berthed to another vehicle when a robotic arm or other mechanism on one vehicle captures the other and moves it into contact at a mating port for latching together. Docking is when two vehicles in free-flight come into contact at a mating port to latch together. For laypeople, docking is a good enough description. I've been doing sidewalk advocacy in front of the local Planned Parenthood for the past year and a half.
Last October, I met a young woman about 20 years of age, who was heading into PP to get information about aborting her child. She came into our mobile clinic for an ultrasound, where she saw her baby and heard his/her heartbeat for the first time. During our conversation, this young woman was timid, anxious, afraid, unsure of herself. She was worried about how her family would react to the news, whether the (married) father would be involved with her child, how she would cover expenses. But hearing her child's heartbeat gave her pause. With a tear in her eye, she said, "I came here to set up an abortion, but now I don't know what I'm going to do. We talked with her about her options, as well as the services, friendship, and support that we offer, and we scheduled a lunch the next day to continue the discussion. (continued) Posted by: Half Dozen at February 01, 2024 12:31 AM (eHovo) 343
...When we met with her the very next day, this young woman was transformed: confident, excited, hopeful, and already knew how she was going to make this work. She had decided to keep her baby. She had told her brother about her pregnancy, and they worked out a plan for telling her parents, for confronting the child's father, and what living arrangements would look like when the baby arrives. She is doing great now; we'll be finding out the sex of her baby next week.
On my way home from that meeting it hit me that PP has to get these ladies while they are still in that state of being timid, afraid, and confused. This is why I hate PP: They are evil predators whose primary goal is to get these women and destroy their lives before they have time to figure things out. And that's why they hate us and the work that we are doing. We truly empower these women -- and empowered women don't have any reason to kill their children. This is why conservatism is dead. It has no memory. How long has no-fault divorce been a thing? There was a time within living memory when Republicans agitated for putting limits on no-fault divorce. But no more. We need to focus on capital gains tax cuts! This is why some of us stopped caring overmuch who gets elected. We caught on that the choices were (a) a lot of liberalism right away; and (b) the same amount of liberalism but spread out over a longer period of time. "Vote Republican. We won't trans your kiddos until 2045!" How can you resist the appeal of that platform? Posted by: You'll be gay 55% slower if you vote for us at February 01, 2024 01:25 AM (pjs7m) 376

But stop and consider that we've lost every major cultural argument for at least 30 years now. Modern conservatism is flatfooted because it has no discernable principles anymore and hasn't for some time. Sadly, marriage really is a crap shoot. Some win? and I've known many couples who made it work and love each other... Then... I've known others, and been in the place meself, where marriage becomes self destructive. Posted by: Romeo13 at February 01, 2024 02:09 AM (xaFKb) 402

400 I am doing ok, jim, and I hope that you are too. I hope that your kids are bolstering you up right now. Family and friends have been kind beyond words, I am a fortunate soul. Continued prayers for you and yours as you cope with your loss.
Posted by: Debby Doberman Schultz at February 01, 2024 02:08 AM (Sgq8y) Still have my moments, things are just too fresh, and the loss too significant. Kids are mixed; younger one is not okay, but wasn't even before she was dying. He's a long term project, but very close to adulthood, so I don't know what to do with him, and wife isn't around to help. Older kid is taking it well, it seems. Sadly, marriage really is a crap shoot.
That's part of why I'm in favor of the old ways. It's not a moralistic pose. I've been married 20 years, and virtually none of that longevity is attributable to me. I'm a difficult person at best. As near as I can tell, my marriage has lasted as long as it has mostly because my wife is tenacious. Unreasonably so, thankfully for me. Doesn't mean there isn't any love or happiness. But I suspect a lot more of marriage involves struggle and hardship than most care to admit. Humans can be pretty hard to take this close up at times. Maybe it was less difficult when we died younger. Posted by: A Party of Opposition Without an Alternative is a Party of Losers Reminiscing about the Past at February 01, 2024 02:16 AM (pjs7m) 410

Posted by: Romeo13 at February 01, 2024 02:09 AM (xaFKb) Everything in life is, to a certain degree. Failed marriages sting more because they begin with great fanfare. My wife was always very reasonable/rational.
When confronted with an expensive wedding, she said, "Hell no; why spend that much money when you can buy a house instead?" Now, how many women out there like that? And smart, and beautiful. I shot above my station, and got lucky, even though I only had 26 years with her, and 16 of those with her having cancer. Posted by: jim (in Kalifornia) at February 01, 2024 02:21 AM (ynpvh) 414
