23 I think there are some big cats, well maybe just cheetahs, that would be exactly as docile and friendly with humans as a house cat. No difference. But a cheetah might open up your neck on oopsie. Because cats seem just a little psycho.

Ha, ha. Columbo pointed out to the butler that wasn't it unusual for the murder victim to be reading a book while dressed in a tie and jacket instead of, say, a smoking jacket?

BTW, speaking of the butler, "All scenes involving Wilfrid Hyde-White were shot in California, as he was then a British tax exile, who owed thousands of pounds to the Inland Revenue in Britain."

My bigger cat likes to lick my fingers, then will bite them. It's a game we play, and I try to yank my finger out of his mouth before he clamps down.

Sometimes I'm late.

If I did that with a cheetah, I wouldn't have some of my fingers, but yeah, cats are cats, no matter the size.

104 The penguin is a brave animal, and rarely flees from danger. If it happens to be tormented, it faces its aggressor and ruffles the black feathers which cover its back. Then it takes a stand for combat, the body straight, the animal erect, the beak in the air, the wings extended, not losing sight of its enemy. Sometimes it takes the offensive, throws itself upon its aggressor, whom it punishes with blows of its beak and wings. A quick retaliation is necessary, as the penguin will be encouraged by cowardice in response to it's brutal attacks.

Could a Giant Parasol in Outer Space Help Solve the Climate Crisis?

It's just taken as gospel now that With Earth at its hottest point in recorded history, and humans doing far from enough to stop its overheating, a small but growing number of astronomers and physicists are proposing a potential fix that could have leaped from the pages of science fiction: the equivalent of a giant beach umbrella, floating in outer space.

To block the necessary amount of solar radiation, the shade would have to be about 1 million square miles, roughly the size of Argentina, Rozen said. A shade that big would weigh at least 2.5 million tons — too heavy to launch into space, he said. So, the project would have to involve a series of smaller shades. They would not completely block the sun’s light but rather cast slightly diffused shade onto Earth, he said.

Setting aside the sickos and that the little guy is 8, one of the neatest things you'll ever see and it damages the "born this way" nonsense so badly is to scroll down to where mommy had dressed him up as a girl for a school play. Poor little guy is in a yellow dress.

Look at how he's standing. Look at how the boys next to him is standing, and how the girls on the other side are standing.

You don't teach toddlers how to stand. Men and women are different from the moment they are born and all through adulthood. Photo of adults:

Today I went to Stardust Building Supplies in Mesa, which sells fixtures obtained by "deconstructing" homes, plus donations. I wanted a pair of small upper kitchen cabinets in Golden Oak, plus a "bridge cabinet" of indeterminate length in the same finish (i.e. MDF board coated on vinyl photoprint).

They had entire sets of used cabinets, some quite nice, others your basic Home Depot stuff, with insane prices on them. Anywhere from $1500 to $3500. I spoke to one of their staff about a set, blonde oak MDF that had been painted flat black with a brush. You could never restore the original finish. The cabinets are fucked. Idjits wanted $2500 for the set anyway. Him, "take it or leave it".

They always figured out how to get by. That's what Americans do, and I think it's what infuriates Our Betters like it does.

Send jobs to China? Folks bounce back and keep going. Send jobs to Mexico. Folks bounce back and keep going. Wreck the market? Bounce back. Inflate savings away? Bounce back.

Now they're outright bringing in replacements, and it's going to be tough for us and our kids to maintain that American posture, because our invaders aren't Americans and have no interest in being Americans. And half the country couldn't care less about America and American values any longer. It's a tight spot.

259 To stop one severe Covid case in children aged 5-15, about 38,000 kids would need to be dosed with mRNA Covid jabs, British researchers have found.

The report should be the final death knell for efforts to give young people mRNA shots, which the United States still has not stopped. Ignoring any other side effects, vaccine-caused myocarditis in kids and teens alone outweighs any potential benefit.

For people aged 16-74, the results were hardly better. The jabs were only about 30 percent effective against hospitalization or death (not infection). And about 15,000 adults would have needed to be “fully vaccinated” to avoid one “severe case.”

Speaking of, that was something interesting that came out of the recent articles about the military somehow not meeting recruiting goals in this economy.

The demographic breakdown was given. It was something like 70% white, 20% black, 7% hispanic, 3% asian

And then they discussed military deaths, and all but one tracked very close to the actual percentage.
White was 72% of the total, hispanic around 7, asian around 3 or 4%

But the black military deaths? 20% of the troops, and only 10% of the deaths.

Seems like there would be a news story there.
