Of course it's a Blinker

Are you in the mood to travel? 40 of the most beautiful places in the US.

Business Insider chose 40 of the most beautiful places in the US based on national rankings.
Notable sites include the Pacific Coast Highway, Lake Tahoe, and Central Park.
Acadia, Arches, Badlands, and Great Smoky Mountains national parks also made the list.

Opinions are like noses, everybody has one. I'll be upfront. I have no desire to see Central Park unless NYC is no longer present.

No offense Chef, but why would I eat a Filet-O-Fish? Why?

SOMETHING FISHY I’m an ex-McDonald’s cook and know where to find the ‘closest thing’ to a store-bought Filet-O-Fish but it’ll cost you
McDonald's uses a unique method for their staple item that's hard to find anywhere else

THE Filet-O-Fish is one of the most controversial menu items at McDonald's, but you'd be surprised to see how expensive similar products are.

Former McDonald's Chef Mike Haracz (@chefmikeharacz) took to his TikTok account to share the secret method used to make Filet-O-Fish sandwiches.

Death Row meal expert reveals killer executed by new method had macabre Ted Bundy link

Never bring a vegetable peeler to any kind of a fight. Unless you are a Genius Award Winner.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A Florida woman has found herself behind bars after she allegedly barged into a gas station while naked and drunk, threatening to kill staff members with a peeler/corer knife.

Celia Barrett, 35, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, disorderly intoxication, criminal mischief, exposure of sexual organs and trespassing after the incident that unfolded at the RaceTrac at 2551 54th Ave. in St. Petersburg, according to an arrest affidavit from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

My how dentistry has advanced over the years. I wonder if Nevergiveup practiced this early in his career?

This tooth-covered hat belonged to a traveling tooth-puller in the early 19th century, and you can even play with a 3D model of it. From Southward Council in London's Cuming Collection:

This cap belonged to a street "dentist" or tooth puller. It is made of brown velvet and felt, and decorated with approximately 88 decayed human teeth, once belonging to his patients. The teeth have been drilled and attached with twine. Wearing a cap like this was supposed to imply the "magician" aspect of the dentists work. As teeth pulling was painful and risky and done without anaesthetic, people needed to have some faith in the "dentist", even if it was only the evidence, worn on the cap, that he had successfully plied his trade.

You can see more images and information about this object on our website.

For instance, there are places in Michigan where you can park along the road, walk through woods and go down to white sand Lake Michigan beaches, all on state land. One of the things Europeans find hard to fathom is how much open, undeveloped land we have.

It’s also why Euros can’t understand why so many Americans dont a passport. Well cuz we don’t really need to leave. Want a tropical beach? America has a bunch. Want 15k ft mountains? Got em. Want desert National park? Check. And on and on. No euro country can provide all that so they all need to fly to other countries to get it. Hence the need for passports.

Not to say that people shouldn’t travel internationally. But the need to do it for Americans is much narrower than for Euros.

Happening Now: DA Alvin Bragg has finally given a publicstatement on the illegals who attacked NYPD officers and
were released. According to him “we didn’t have enough evidence,” even though they have footage of the assault happening.
This is the same DA Bragg who “had enough evidence” to indict Daniel Penny even though all of the other passengers thanked Penny. This is the same DA Bragg who “had enough evidence” to indict Trump.
People like DA Bragg don’t care about justice. It’s all political for them. Why are we still allowing these Soros funded DA’s to stay in office and destroy our communities?

I vividly remember as a kid on a tour of the state house seeing there was a part of the big mural with a series of small pigs painted with names on them. The tour guide explained that the artist wasn't paid entirely what he was promised so he painted in the pigs and the names of the politicians that stiffed him. Well the state painted over it but then had someone in modern times uncover the pigs for historical purposes. But I can't find any record of it now.

I, for one, would have no problem with discharging a 9 mm into the back of the skull of some monster who raped and murdered a child.
We should not torture the bastards to death, however much they might deserve, but neither should we "put them down" mercifully as though they were beloved pets. Hanging or gunshot works well. But hanging requires some skill and preparation on the part of the hangman. Any goober can pull the trigger.

Town in Lazio, just south of Rome City, part of Greater Rome and site of the old Rome International Airport until sometime in the 1960s when Fiumicino was opened. Still used as a military, local and domestic, or alternative. Most importantly Ciampino happens to be my birthplace.

Sentence for carjacking should be carjerking. Put the perp in the middle of an intersection, put a tight noose around each of his 4 limbs, and attach the other end of each rope to the trailer hitch of a powerful car. At the drop of a flag, all four driver floorboard the throttle.

425 Giving the (literal) devil some actually earned "due".

When Saddam was marched into the execution chamber, he initially went weak-kneed at the sight of the gallows and rope.

But, gathered himself, and was reported to have said: "... why should I fear, this is the end, it is the way of all flesh." , or words very close to that, as I recall.

Reported by one of the party that administered the hanging.

Now, Saddam was as a murderous a thug that ever bore the medals, mustache and beret.

But walking up those gallows stairs with a bit of elan, at the end. That's GOING TO HELL, in Style.

Hope ol' stan turned it down from 496f to 495f, out of respect?

In that photo, he's firing a Ruger M-77, RSI carbine. 18" barrel, Mannlicher stock. I know, I used to own one.

Mine was in .308 Winchester. With a fixed, Leupold 6x40, Gold Ring scope.

Killed many deer with that rig, I did. Mine was a Mk 1 M-77. I think Saddam's was, too. "Eraser Red" rubber butt pad. The Mk II has the (very) dark brown butt pad.

These are carbines that DO appreciate in value faster than the stock market and/or rate of inflation. If you get one, KEEP one.

My guy of the Cali Weather Watch is going to be live streaming when TSHTF coming Sunday evening.

Hell, I've taken to sandbagging areas on the north side of Nightwatch manor and placed push brooms to funnel any standing water out my side gate if it gets that intense. All my boys have storm coats and waders if they have to get out in the mayhem though there has been some talk about potential (low probability) tornado warnings which gives me some pause.

Either way...gonna be a very interesting next few days around here.

457 Nikki Haley was on SNL - they gave her a chance to do a proxy attack on Trump in the cold open. She was required to recant her answer on the cause of the Civil War as part of the bit.

I think she believed this would be beneficial for her. Even more sad was that the cold open appears to be the only part of the show that was written. I know, I know ... SNL ain't what she used to be. But they're recycling bits from the Thirties or earlier now. They actually trotted out the old thermos joke ("it keeps the hot stuff hot and the cold stuff cold - how do it know?") that may have passed its freshness date in 1903.

Posted by: Toronto May Be Fictional at February 04, 2024 02:51 AM (ENHQb)

458 That is, they trotted out the thermos joke recently, but not in tonight's episode. Pretty soon knock-knock jokes and poorly-imitated sounds of bodily functions will be the norm. If only Dennis Miller or Norm MacDonald could be there. (And if Norm were there it would definitely be must-see TV!)

I lay the blame upon the Jimmy Fallonization effect. After him, comedy became a secondary consideration, and the rot has spread throughout late night entertainment. You wouldn't have had a James Corden without Fallon, for example, which is indictment enough.
