That seems very high. I buy some toys but am mostly frugal. I can't imagine spending $6000/month. Maybe people buying a house and with car payments have a couple grand a month expenses ... are they blowing $100/night at the bar and on hookers? Posted by: illiniwek at January 29, 2024 07:30 PM (Cus5s) A few months ago, I had lunch with a co-worker and a friend of his who works in another division. The guys were catching up, commiserating, and the friend happened to mention that he's paying four car notes and four cell phone bills. "I'm sorry, what? Why four?" He has a daughter in college and another who's graduated and is living and working in another state. He's paying both of their car notes, another for himself and a fourth for his wife, and of course everyone's cell phone and unlimited data. That is how you spend $6,000 a month. the FAA gave secret code words to students in the Black Caucus of Federal Aviation Employees to put in their resume that would skip them to the front of the line. Posted by: Patrick from Ohio at January 29, 2024 07:43 PM (dKiJG) Keyword insertions are kind of the thing these days. It's not really a secret. If the job you are interviewing for says you must have skills with a left-handed screwdriver, your resume damn well better have the words "left-handed screwdriver" in it. And you do say "I used" or "I was trained on." You say "proficient," or say you were an expert or whatever. You initiated, your planned, you implemented. Action words. Use them. Thanks for the cafe, Ace. Love the top photo and the waterfall.
Evenin' Horde. Feeling grateful tonight in spite of a lousy day at work. Yesterday a tree from my property fell into the neighbors' back yard. Miraculously, it didn't hit anything. This morning the tree guys (who I'd already scheduled to come look at some limbs on my yuge luxurious tree that are too close to the roof) said they couldn't take on the job I had originally called about. But they cut up the fallen tree and dragged it out of the neighbors' yard into mine, and referred me to the best tree service to take care of all my [tree] problems. Didn't charge me a penny and wouldn't even take the twenties I offered. Tonight the neighbors called in response to the note I'd left yesterday to thank me for taking care of it. December 7 is a day that will live in history. As December 7, 1941. We do not want war with Japan. I intend to limit our response to the minor Japanese attacks made on our forces in Hawaii, the Philippines, Wake Island, and Guam. Escalation at this time may cause Japan to expand its attacks on American, British, and Dutch military forces and civilian areas, possibly leading to war in the Pacific. I am sending Jake Sullivan and Tony Blinken to Tokyo tomorrow, to request Japan institute an immediate cease fire. If Emperor Hirohito plans to unilaterally expand conflict in the Pacific, I say one word. DON'T. DON'T.

There are about 3,000 US troops based in Jordan, a key US ally, and 2,500 in Iraq - there at the invitation of the Iraqi government as part of a US-led coalition to prevent a resurgence of the jihadist Islamic State group which still has a presence there after being routed in 2017.
