Palestinian Terrorists Reject Offer to Exchange Hostages for a Two Month Ceasefire

The deal had been proposed by Egypt and Qatar.

Hamas reportedly rejected a proposal from Israel for a two-month ceasefire that would involve the relocation of Hamas leadership to other countries and the release of all hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.

Hamas insists that it will not release any hostages until Israel ends its battle in the Gaza Strip and withdraws from the area, according to a senior Egyptian official, The Associated Press reported.

Hamas threatens that they'll murder the hostages unless their terms are quickly met:

Hamas says that time is running out to bring the approximately 110 people who remain hostage home alive after Hamas and other terrorists took more than 250 people captive and killed 1,200 others when invading Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

More from Free Beacon. Hamas continues suggesting, ominously, there is "no chance" to save the hostages.

As Israeli planes resumed bombing Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, senior Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri told Reuters that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's refusal to end the military offensive in Gaza "means there is no chance for the return of the [Israeli] captives."

His comment came after Netanyahu rejected the group's terms for the release of hostages and an end to the war, which included Israel's withdrawal from Gaza and leaving the group in power in the enclave.

"In exchange for the release of our hostages, Hamas demands the end of the war, the withdrawal of our forces from Gaza, the release of all the murderers and rapists," Netanyahu said in a statement. "And leaving Hamas intact."

"I reject outright the terms of surrender of the monsters of Hamas," Netanyahu said.

They Just Want to Breathe (TM). Did you know that?

Meanwhile, Israel is not letting up in its own War on Terror. The IDF is pushing into the southern Gaza terror stronghold city of Khan Yunis.

The IDF on Monday launched a division-level push into western Khan Yunis, ushering what will likely be the most intense fighting since early December when the military first entered other parts of Hamas's southern capital.

Division 98 has unleashed serious forces from its seven brigades, artillery, tanks, and air support, and surrounded western Khan Yunis which until now the IDF had mostly steered clear of.

The IDF earlier announced a large number of airstrikes which were meant to soften up the area for ground forces to move into the new areas more easily.

For the last seven weeks, IDF attacks on Khan Yunis had focused on the northern and eastern portions of the city.

A hotspot for Hamas terrorists

The IDF called western Khan Yunis the heart of Hamas's operations, including areas where its top two leaders Yahya Sinwar and Muhammad Deif, grew up.

The IDF said that this part of Khan Yunis is the densest, offering less room to maneuver, containing a larger number of civilians and sensitive sites, including hospitals.

Hospitals, aka Hamas terror bunkers.

Biden remains as fully engaged as ever:

Interesting.

If there is now "no chance," then what incentive is there for Israel to do anything but pound you into dust as they starve you into mass graves (or until you surrender, of course - whichever comes first)?

This will be the most difficult paet.of the war. Its close fighting, difficult to dig them out, and lots.of civilians with no where to go. It will be interesting to see how the IDF proceeds. I wonder if at some point they open up a pathway for women and children to go to a camp back to the north? 48 hours to move. So the Russian method. Back in the day, Hezbollah took several Russian diplomats hostage in Beirut. The KGB took several family members of the hostage-takers and executed them (everyone knew who the hostage-takers were, including the CIA and Israelis). The bodies were left on the hostage-takers' parents' doorsteps.

Hezbollah released the Russians within 48 hours, with an apology. CIA head Casey chuckled at the time, remarking that the Russians spoke Hezbollah's language.

Posted by: AZ deplorable moron

I have had some training in crisis management for hostage situations. I had a role in a missions agency with people in places where such scenarios where possible.

The family is its own worst enemy in these cases. The negotiator told us when he would call the terrorists he would sometimes allow the family in the room but they had to sit behind him and be silent. He said he nearly always hung up on the terrorists on the first call.

The only way to may any progress in the negotiation is to establish that you are not in a hurry to get the hostages back and that hurting the hostages will get zero response from the negotiation side. Hence hanging up the phone.

The Israeli hostages were all doomed from the start from the negotiation perspective. Hamas is not in this for the money or clout as an organization. They just want to cause suffering and agony.

I think they stumbled into it and ended up trying to reposition on the fly. I don't think it's as simple as "they're monsters, so of course they did!" They are surely that, but they wanted something.

I think what they wanted were rape-slaves and a bargaining chip to play the normal game of "we will release your hostages in exchange for a release of our criminals you have in prison, at a 50:1 ratio." They took a lot of hostage so as to get a shit-ton of their guys released (even if the bulk rate requires a lower ratio).

That went sideways when Israel decided to finally go deal with Gaza. That resulted in a loss of central control over the hostages (they are scattered around, as we learned during the last release) and put Hamas on the back foot in terms of *what* they're trying to negotiate. They have settled on "Israeli surrender" recently, but their bargaining chip ain't nearly big enough. Now they're stuck.

This used to be normal, plain, old-fashioned common sense. I think it died with my generation, but I am not sure. Some of my peers got it, some didn't.

In high school, I went to a movie with a couple of buddies. It was snowing and so the lights were on. My friend left the lights on. Oops. Dead battery. We pushed the car into the parking lot lane and a couple of friendly lesbians gave us a jump start. We hit the road and my friend drove down the street to an auto parts store, parked and shut the engine off. My other friend and I asked him what the hell he was doing. His reply? "The battery died. I have to get a new one."

We spent 10 minutes explaining that the battery is rechargeable and that the engine turned a generator to keep it charged, and he needed to be *driving* to recharge it enough.

Oy.

And it's 1-1/4" galvanized cousin, and it's 1" galvanized second cousin, too. Those, I unloaded and carried solo.
