Good morning, kids. So, Nikki Haley won Dixville Notch, NH at midnight. That's it folks. All over by the shouting. Might as well not even have a convention and just proclaim her the nominee. What a farce. Not even so much something that's the moral equivalent of throwing out a first pitch at the World Series but the whole election in general. I don't mean to mock the traditional midnight vote in that tiny hamlet let alone the World Series, because of what they represent. Or to be more accurate, what they once represented.

I've been saying for quite a while that I get the sense that America as founded or as it more or less was operating since the end of the Second World War until about 9/11/01 is indeed dead and we're still going about our business in a zombie-like state. We have the illusion of regular order despite the incontestable and massive amount of evidence to the contrary.

The slow motion coup against the republic which started around 1913 with Woodrow Wilson, or perhaps in the aftermath of the Civil War (please let's not waste pixels, time and space on that moot argument) went pedal to the metal when the Twin Towers came down and, aside for a brief oasis of a pause between 2017 and 2020, vanished like the mirage it was. Even sudden revolutions aren't as sudden and spontaneous as they seem. Conditions on the ground fester for a protracted period and then the "people" (or likely a relatively small band of miscreants) storm the gates of the presidium and take over.

Yet still we persist because even with everything seemingly crashing in around us, we still go to work, take care of our families, pay our taxes (!!!), and try to live as moral, God-fearing, decent people while trying to find what joy we can in our lives. Like life itself, the ability to do all of these things depends upon societal stability and the unspoken contract between ourselves, our neighbors and our fellow citizens. It's a contract based upon mutual respect, mutual recognition, despite even stark geographic, ethnic and cultural differences, of a shared national identity and heritage.

That's out the window. You know it and I know it. There can be no more pussyfooting around and playing kabuki theater.

A divided Supreme Court on Monday allowed Border Patrol agents to cut razor wire that Texas installed on the U.S.-Mexico border, while a lawsuit over the wire continues.
The justices, by a 5-4 vote, granted an emergency appeal from the Biden administration, which has been in an escalating standoff at the border with Texas and had objected to an appellate ruling in favor of the state. . .
. . . Abbott also has authorized installing floating barriers in the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass and allowed troopers to arrest and jail thousands of migrants on trespassing charges. The administration also is challenging those actions in federal court.
A federal appeals court last month forced federal agents to stop cutting the concertina wire. Large numbers of migrants have crossed at Eagle Pass in recent months.
In court papers, the administration said the wire impedes Border Patrol agents from reaching migrants as they cross the river and that, in any case, federal immigration law trumps Texas’ own efforts to stem the flow of migrants into the country.
Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Amy Coney Barrett, Ketanji Brown Jackson, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor sided with the administration. Justices Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas voted with Texas. No one provided any explanation for their vote.

If I want to be charitable, I'd say that Roberts and Coney Island are still operating under the delusion that everything his hunky dory, business as usual and Greg Abbott was a naughty boy by doing what he did. Of course, there is some considerable legal argumentation that a state (and in particular Texas) indeed has precedence over the federal government over aspects of immigration policy and borders, the particulars that going back nearly 200 years themselves. In fact, I would think that someone who sits on SCOTUS or any bench for that matter would know this, but we live in the era of Claudine Gay and Kentanji Brown-25.

And that era is post-America. We know that the other three hacks-in-black on the court are Marxist rubber stamps who could care fuck all about the document they are there to allegedly defend, except when they can use it or more likely distort it like a funhouse mirror if political expediency to advance Marxism dictates. As for Roberts and Coney Island, I think their main concern is maintaining status on the D.C. cocktail party circuit.

The country is gone. What's going on at the border is just a prime example of not merely this illegitimate junta abandoning its responsibility to defend it, but actively engaging in the border's destruction, the intentional jettisoning of any kind of sane immigration policy and allowing what amounts to a massive invasion of unvetted foreigners into the country. The most benign of which will destabilize our economy and burden the tax-paying citizenry. Many others will endanger the latter via violent crime – and with the non-prosecution via Soros DAs, this is anarcho-terrorism – while a not insignificant subset of those are hell-bent on committing acts of terrorism, perhaps resulting in mass casualty events similar to if not potentially greater than 9/11/01 itself.

Worst of all, the junta in DC is even admitting that "it's only a matter of time" until this happens!

That now puts the floating barricade directly in Governor Greg Abbott's court. Tucker Carlson had some thoughts on this:

Carlson took to Twitter to claim “everyone in power” has allegedly “decided to destroy the country” in regards to allowing the border crisis to continue. Carlson additionally questioned where the “men of Texas” were, asking why they were not “protecting their state and nation.”
“So it’s unanimous: everyone in power, from the White House, to the hedge fund managers, to the Supreme Court of the United States has decided to destroy the country by allowing it to be invaded. That leaves the population to defend itself. Where are the men of Texas? Why aren’t they protecting their state and the nation?” Carlson tweeted out. . . .
. . . Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has since responded to the ruling on Twitter, saying the legal battle “is not over.” He added that he will “continue to defend Texas’ constitutional authority to secure the border and prevent the Biden [junta] from destroying our property.” The Texas governor emphasized that the razor wire is “an effective deterrent to the illegal crossings” seen at the border.

Governor Abbott, there is no legal battle. The Federal government has obviously, deliberately and intentionally abrogated it's duty and responsibility to protect the citizenry of your state and the entire nation. They have absolutely shattered the social contract between the citizenry and the people who supposedly elected them (the 2020 stolen election notwithstanding).

The time is now, the place is Texas and the spotlight is on you. There is only one correct, justified and righteous response to the Supreme Court:

NULLIFICATION

By acquiescing to this decision, you will be endangering the lives of your constituents and the American people. You will also send a signal that will embolden the junta to impose whatever other insane tyrannical edicts they want without any consequences.

The line in the sand has got to be drawn here. We may be in a zombie state but very soon now, everything is going to go. For sure if you allow them to flood the country with even more foreign invaders who will do this nation grave harm, whether the invaders intend it or not.

This is it. Do or die. And the NH primary is today, or something.

The latter is not, I think, a meaningful consideration. The Party will impose whatever it wants anyway. Consequences, if any, will be local (like in Texas).

I'm totally in favor of nullification and I have been clear on that for some time. My reason for it is changing, though. Initially, my preference has been for nullification because it's the one way forward I see that does not *necessarily* lead to open war or total tyranny. Either is a possibility out of nullification, but not a guarantee. The other paths I see have those endpoints as guarantees, which makes nullification preferable to me.

That said, I am less confident by the day that nullification ends differently. I think war is the less likely outcome than an increasingly perfect tyranny, but neither is off the table yet.

The Texas National Guard would put under direct Federal control, and of course they would obey - they're not a real military force anyway.

That's the nullification gamble. The first gamble is that the Feds won't mobilize the army against a state over a point of legal disagreement. The second gamble is that the state can hold up against the initial Federal assault.

I think the first gamble is, in this moment, sound. It's an election year, the border is a nightmare and lots of people are pissed about it. If there is a time to drive a nullification crisis and give the Feds a moment's pause before mobilizing the armed forces against a US state over this issue, that time is probably now.

The one and only time I was in a District Court in my area there was a case of a young woman who was beaten badly enough to have thousands of dollars of hospital bills and her purse and cell phone was stolen.

The accused did not speak English.

So all the women on the Supreme Court are okay with putting their fellow citizens at risk, half of them at great physical risk. Off in the distance I can hear Fort Sumter calling.

Where the hell is Beijing going come up with the money? And trillion what? Trillion Dollars or trillion Yuan? A Dollar is about 7.15 CNY.

But it doesn't matter. They don't have it. The CCP central government has some maneuvering room on debt, but not much. Most of the provincial and local governments do not (Red Chinese state finance is an interesting structure, and the subordinate governments have most of the burden) and the income streams are in serious trouble.

If it's true that Red China wants to do a massive financial bailout, it probably means either:
1. The CCP is lying. There will be no bailout, they just want to calm the markets and manage the decline in the capital trade
2. They're willing to detonate the CNY and risk a major ForEx shortfall at the central bank, which will cause a catastrophic industrial dislocation

He has done everything by the book , and there is one overwhelming reason why : there are 41,000 federal troops stationed at Ft. Hood just an hours drive from Austin. If he tries nullification, those troops could take over every state office in half a day, and the idiots in Austin would be standing on the side of the road cheering while they rolled in. The Texas National Guard would put under direct Federal control, and of course they would obey - they're not a real military force anyway.

They have been.

Formal Chinese holdings of UST debt now sits at around $800 billion. Informal and shadow holdings might double the official number, but that's not enough - even if they wanted to risk blowing up markets in the US (or even meaningfully hurting the USD) and crippling a vital export market. Red China spent the second half of last year cashing out its Treasury holdings.

It needs the ForEx. Beijing has been playing games to prop up its capital markets (driven by real estate, by no means limited to RE) and try prevent widespread failure of major projects and businesses. It needs a lot of foreign exchange to do that without destroying the CNY, and it has been spending like drunken sailor. They're not critically short on ForEx, but there isn't a ton of room there anymore and they've been burning through reserves.

I saw a poor old lady yesterday that had damaged herself beyond recognition. She didn't even look human, with enormous lips and cheeks. And she was confident beyond belief and trying to talk to everyone and flirt.

Not even that old, either. Probably 50-55. Kept her body in good shape and had a great figure, but was dressed 35 years too young for what she was.

But her face. She looked like a monster. I pitied her, and it bothered me that I had to look away when she would pass by and give me a big smile.

IVF involves a ton of life disposed off - the embyros implanted are not all the embryos created, so it's effectively a procedure that causes the same effect as early term abortions, just for a more positive cause.

The Catholic faith has said that life begins at conception, so it has to be against IVF, b/c if it weren't, why be against early term abortions before heart beats or brain development/ Either something is alive, or it isn't, whether or not it's in the womb.

374 Am I angry at the Supreme Court decision? Yes. Does it mean what everyone seems to think it means? No. The SCOTUS does not like to get involved in a dispute before it has been resolved at the trial level. The razor wire dispute is not yet resolved, and is in litigation. What the court did is refuse to enjoin the government on a temporary basis during the trial. Why? The 3 Communists on the court are always in favor of the government. Barrett is an institutionalist, that is she will vote with institutions, like ATF etc. on temporary motions on the assumption that the institution is correct. Roberts is simply a sack of shit who votes with the Communists if they are the winning side. The only redeeming quality of Barrett is that when a Constitutional case decision is on the line she will vote on the Constitutional side, and overrule her general assumption that government institutions are correct. So the current ruling is not an indication of how the final case will be decided by the court.

SCOTUS decisions are always 6-3 in favor of the Constitution or 5-4 in favor of the Communists because Roberts always wants to be on the winning side. He NEVER votes with the losers.

Absolutely. Because I don't spend $7 on a crappy cup of coffee from Starbucks every day. I'm driving a 10yr old truck, Mrs OCiS car is 14 yrs old. Rarely do we eat out, and when we do we aren't the type to drop $150+ for the meal for two of us. us older folks have worked our a**es off, scrimping and saving. Of course there are. Millennials are pretty uniformly left-wing (it's the leftiest generation I've seen), but they aren't all catastrophically irresponsible.

But the general, macro-level fact is that they don't earn as much as their parents at equivalent points in life, and have less ability to afford housing than their parents did as well as generally higher debt loads. Some of that is their own fault. Much of it isn't.

Spending priorities are quite different and hurt certain other goals, but in terms of housing specifically, things are worse now and meaningfully so at the macro level.

For those in the 35-44 age group in 1970, median household income was $11,131
For the same age group in 2019, median household income was $88,858

Inflation-adjusted, the 1970 median income inflated to 2019 would be $71,869 and so that looks good until you look at what it can buy in terms of housing.

In 1970, the US median house price (real estate and income are both local, but it's like-for-like at the macro level) was $24,821.
In 2019, it was $264,810.

So in 1970, the hypothetical median family could buy the hypothetical median house for 2.23x income. In 2019, it took 2.98x - an increase of 9 months gross (or 33.6%) in income-relative terms.

Factor it into structurally higher debt loads thanks in part to the college con (and yes, that was voluntary - but that doesn't mean it wasn't predatory) and it's not pretty for Millennial home ownership.
