Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Report — 1/23/24![]() A divided Supreme Court on Monday allowed Border Patrol agents to cut razor wire that Texas installed on the U.S.-Mexico border, while a lawsuit over the wire continues. The justices, by a 5-4 vote, granted an emergency appeal from the Biden administration, which has been in an escalating standoff at the border with Texas and had objected to an appellate ruling in favor of the state. . . . . . Abbott also has authorized installing floating barriers in the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass and allowed troopers to arrest and jail thousands of migrants on trespassing charges. The administration also is challenging those actions in federal court. A federal appeals court last month forced federal agents to stop cutting the concertina wire. Large numbers of migrants have crossed at Eagle Pass in recent months. In court papers, the administration said the wire impedes Border Patrol agents from reaching migrants as they cross the river and that, in any case, federal immigration law trumps Texas’ own efforts to stem the flow of migrants into the country. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Amy Coney Barrett, Ketanji Brown Jackson, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor sided with the administration. Justices Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas voted with Texas. No one provided any explanation for their vote.If I want to be charitable, I'd say that Roberts and Coney Island are still operating under the delusion that everything his hunky dory, business as usual and Greg Abbott was a naughty boy by doing what he did. Of course, there is some considerable legal argumentation that a state (and in particular Texas) indeed has precedence over the federal government over aspects of immigration policy and borders, the particulars that going back nearly 200 years themselves. In fact, I would think that someone who sits on SCOTUS or any bench for that matter would know this, but we live in the era of Claudine Gay and Kentanji Brown-25. And that era is post-America. We know that the other three hacks-in-black on the court are Marxist rubber stamps who could care fuck all about the document they are there to allegedly defend, except when they can use it or more likely distort it like a funhouse mirror if political expediency to advance Marxism dictates. As for Roberts and Coney Island, I think their main concern is maintaining status on the D.C. cocktail party circuit. The country is gone. What's going on at the border is just a prime example of not merely this illegitimate junta abandoning its responsibility to defend it, but actively engaging in the border's destruction, the intentional jettisoning of any kind of sane immigration policy and allowing what amounts to a massive invasion of unvetted foreigners into the country. The most benign of which will destabilize our economy and burden the tax-paying citizenry. Many others will endanger the latter via violent crime – and with the non-prosecution via Soros DAs, this is anarcho-terrorism – while a not insignificant subset of those are hell-bent on committing acts of terrorism, perhaps resulting in mass casualty events similar to if not potentially greater than 9/11/01 itself. Worst of all, the junta in DC is even admitting that "it's only a matter of time" until this happens! That now puts the floating barricade directly in Governor Greg Abbott's court. Tucker Carlson had some thoughts on this: Carlson took to Twitter to claim “everyone in power” has allegedly “decided to destroy the country” in regards to allowing the border crisis to continue. Carlson additionally questioned where the “men of Texas” were, asking why they were not “protecting their state and nation.” “So it’s unanimous: everyone in power, from the White House, to the hedge fund managers, to the Supreme Court of the United States has decided to destroy the country by allowing it to be invaded. That leaves the population to defend itself. Where are the men of Texas? Why aren’t they protecting their state and the nation?” Carlson tweeted out. . . . . . . Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has since responded to the ruling on Twitter, saying the legal battle “is not over.” He added that he will “continue to defend Texas’ constitutional authority to secure the border and prevent the Biden [junta] from destroying our property.” The Texas governor emphasized that the razor wire is “an effective deterrent to the illegal crossings” seen at the border.Governor Abbott, there is no legal battle. The Federal government has obviously, deliberately and intentionally abrogated it's duty and responsibility to protect the citizenry of your state and the entire nation. They have absolutely shattered the social contract between the citizenry and the people who supposedly elected them (the 2020 stolen election notwithstanding). The time is now, the place is Texas and the spotlight is on you. There is only one correct, justified and righteous response to the Supreme Court:

Governor Abbott, there is no legal battle. The Federal government has obviously, deliberately and intentionally abrogated it's duty and responsibility to protect the citizenry of your state and the entire nation. They have absolutely shattered the social contract between the citizenry and the people who supposedly elected them (the 2020 stolen election notwithstanding).
++++ That is the essence of the "legal battle." Do state governments have the right to take on Federal powers when the Federal Government is derelict in its duties? Those powers are still present and still vested in the Federal, but the Federal is failing to do the job. In the presence of such a failure, what are the states' recourse? SCOTUS just said - in a narrow preliminary that sets the stage for what's to come - "the states have no recourse." Texas and the other states can now accept that answer, or they can disregard that answer and proceed anyway, forcing the nullification crisis into the next phase. By acquiescing to this decision, you will be endangering the lives of your constituents and the American people. You will also send a signal that will embolden the junta to impose whatever other insane tyrannical edicts they want without any consequences.
++++ The latter is not, I think, a meaningful consideration. The Party will impose whatever it wants anyway. Consequences, if any, will be local (like in Texas). I'm totally in favor of nullification and I have been clear on that for some time. My reason for it is changing, though. Initially, my preference has been for nullification because it's the one way forward I see that does not *necessarily* lead to open war or total tyranny. Either is a possibility out of nullification, but not a guarantee. The other paths I see have those endpoints as guarantees, which makes nullification preferable to me. That said, I am less confident by the day that nullification ends differently. I think war is the less likely outcome than an increasingly perfect tyranny, but neither is off the table yet. NEW: India’s stock market pips Hong Kong to become world’s fourth largest... a milestone that underscores growing global investor optimism about New Delhi’s economic prospects, Bloomberg said Tuesday. The total value of shares listed on Indian exchanges hit $4.3 trillion on Monday, slightly higher than Hong Kong’s $4.29 trillion, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The Indian stock rally comes as Hong Kong’s market grappled with its fourth consecutive year of losses, with money managers moving billions out over worries of China’s economic downturn. In the last two years, there has also been increasing political pressure on US investors to cut their exposure to Chinese companies. India’s Nifty 50 index jumped 20 percent in 2023, its eighth straight year of gains. On the other hand, Hong Kong’s benchmark Hang Seng index, which includes shares of many influential Chinese companies, ended last year 14 percent lower. Mr. Baker’s most recent coverage identified the person who found one of the two pipe bombs on Jan. 6 as an undercover U.S. Capitol Police officer and not a “passerby.” Since October 2023, he wrote a series of stories that said events described under oath by two Capitol Police officers in the first Oath Keepers trial in 2022 could not have happened, based on Mr. Baker’s examination of security video. Most of the provincial and local governments do not (Red Chinese state finance is an interesting structure, and the subordinate governments have most of the burden) and the income streams are in serious trouble. If it's true that Red China wants to do a massive financial bailout, it probably means either: 1. The CCP is lying. Living in Texas, I of course have followed Abbotts attempts to stop this intently. He has done everything by the book , and there is one overwhelming reason why : there are 41,000 federal troops stationed at Ft. Hood just an hours drive from Austin. If he tries nullification, those troops could take over every state office in half a day, and the idiots in Austin would be standing on the side of the road cheering while they rolled in. The Texas National Guard would put under direct Federal control, and of course they would obey - they're not a real military force anyway.

Red China spent the second half of last year cashing out its Treasury holdings. It needs the ForEx. Beijing has been playing games to prop up its capital markets (driven by real estate, by no means limited to RE) and try prevent widespread failure of major projects and businesses. Haha, but in all seriousness, I get the feeling that at least part of this -- the brazen way they are now behaving -- is designed to trigger a civil war. I now believe they *want* people to decide to take action, such as going to the border, whatever. The always-masked-never-investigated "white nationalists" have been doing their little marches recently, so they are laying down the narrative that the normies are getting ready to fight. All the people who have had plastic surgery, fake boobs , facial implants etc gave me a weird thought. Can you imagine opening their caskets fifty years on and finding bones, silicone implants and chin/cheek implants? Give future archaeologists something that goes "hmmm"
- I saw a poor old lady yesterday that had damaged herself beyond recognition. She didn't even look human, with enormous lips and cheeks. And she was confident beyond belief and trying to talk to everyone and flirt. Not even that old, either. Probably 50-55. Kept her body in good shape and had a great figure, but was dressed 35 years too young for what she was. But her face. She looked like a monster. I pitied her, and it bothered me that I had to look away when she would pass by and give me a big smile. She had done that to herself on purpose. 191 Once again, trying not to be hypersensitive, but lumping in gays with normal couples trying to do surrogacy or just IVF all under "IVF is bad, mmkay?" is not helpful. And I am trying not to let my Protestant bias sway me, but Pope Frankie is clearly not willing to adhere to traditional Catholic teachings, especially when it comes to teh gheyz. On the flip side, the chromosomal testing company we had to use was very, very much geared toward lesbian couples.
Posted by: pookysgirl, trying to do things the right way at January 23, 2024 08:43 AM (dtlDP) IVF involves a ton of life disposed off - the embyros implanted are not all the embryos created, so it's effectively a procedure that causes the same effect as early term abortions, just for a more positive cause. The Catholic faith has said that life begins at conception, so it has to be against IVF, b/c if it weren't, why be against early term abortions before heart beats or brain development/ Either something is alive, or it isn't, whether or not it's in the womb. I saw three illegals along I-10 eastbound in West Texas yesterday. In broad daylight at mid-day. In the middle of nowhere. Two were walking east along a ranching fence line 20 yards off the freeway. About 20 miles east of Van Horn. Well east of the Border Patrol I-10 inspection post at I-10 mile marker 101. Both wore camo parkas and pants. I spotted the third one about 10 miles farther east. He popped in and out of a deep hollow about 25 yards off the freeway. He wore a black puffy parka with a light gray hood. Dark pants. A coyote? Were the other two heading to that spot? Who knows? Texans flock to social media to demand the state 'secede' after losing at Supreme Court.
the issue of secession was settled by Lincoln. However, expulsion has not been on the table before. Return The Republic to Mexico? We could make amends for that imperialist land grab in 1846. Your Governor can't even keep the lights on imagine how you would be on your own? If Texas doesn't turn blue this next election it never will. Come on Texas silence these voices of division for good. Clean out the red. Abbot is deliberately sowing the seeds of a 2nd Civil War. He is not alone. There really is a vast right wing conspiracy. There has been for a long, long time. Start to transfer facilities out of Texas. As soon as all their revenue sources and Federal programs dry up, they'll scream to come back. Charge Abbot with insurrection, obstruction of justice, and anything else that comes up. As far as I can see, he's got three deaths on his head. How does he sleep at night? Am I angry at the Supreme Court decision? Yes. Does it mean what everyone seems to think it means? No. The SCOTUS does not like to get involved in a dispute before it has been resolved at the trial level. The razor wire dispute is not yet resolved, and is in litigation. What the court did is refuse to enjoin the government on a temporary basis during the trial. Why? The 3 Communists on the court are always in favor of the government. Barrett is an institutionalist, that is she will vote with institutions, like ATF etc. on temporary motions on the assumption that the institution is correct. Roberts is simply a sack of shit who votes with the Communists if they are the winning side. The only redeeming quality of Barrett is that when a Constitutional case decision is on the line she will vote on the Constitutional side, and overrule her general assumption that government institutions are correct. So the current ruling is not an indication of how the final case will be decided by the court.
SCOTUS decisions are always 6-3 in favor of the Constitution or 5-4 in favor of the Communists because Roberts always wants to be on the winning side. He NEVER votes with the losers. Posted by: An Observation sez China Joe not my president at January 23, 2024 09:24 AM (CecP5) 375

Posted by: Montec at January 23, 2024 09:33 AM (bWsRe) ++++ Spending priorities are quite different and hurt certain other goals, but in terms of housing specifically, things are worse now and meaningfully so at the macro level. For those in the 35-44 age group in 1970, median household income was $11,131 For the same age group in 2019, median household income was $88,858 Inflation-adjusted, the 1970 median income inflated to 2019 would be $71,869 and so that looks good until you look at what it can buy in terms of housing. In 1970, the US median house price (real estate and income are both local, but it's like-for-like at the macro level) was $24,821. In 2019, it was $264,810. So in 1970, the hypothetical median family could buy the hypothetical median house for 2.23x income. In 2019, it took 2.98x - an increase of 9 months gross (or 33.6%) in income-relative terms. Factor it into structurally higher debt loads thanks in part to the college con (and yes, that was voluntary - but that doesn't mean it wasn't predatory) and it's not pretty for Millennial home ownership. 397 According to TV shows a handgun can always defeat a full auto weapon… have you not noticed this??
Posted by: tubal at January 23, 2024 09:27 AM (PCK5/) It always cracked me up on NCIS: Los Angeles when they were in a fire fight, they'd drop their AR with optics for their Glock when they couldn't hit someone at 40 yards. Posted by: Sponge - F*ck Joe Biden at January 23, 2024 09:29 AM (Zz0t1) Ha, that always reminded me of a guy I know in the DEA, he said if I have my handgun out instead of my rifle it's going to be a bad day. Dolly Parton created Dollywood to provide hobs where she grew up. She sponsors a medical clinic there too. She has a program to send out free books every month to low income kids. You can bash her but unlike some rich folks, she does some good with her money.

They know we're being played - in the usual open, screwing with language manner, i.e., "USHCR welcomes generous US decision on refugee resettlement, urges other countries to step up..." which encompassed 'up to 125,000 refugees' for resettlement over the fiscal year beginning October 2023.." (Not bad; this country can handle resettling that # of legitimate Refugees per year.) To welcome refugees, the Welcome Corps - a new service opportunity for Americans to welcome refugees who are seeking safety and refuge in the U.S. - was established by the State Depart 1/23, originally to aid Afghan allies and Ukraine 'newcomers.' (Coincidentally, or not, the 6 month anniversary of the Los Angles Declaration on Migration & Protection was celebrated by the US, Mexico & Canada.) The Corps mission is to 'inspire, mobilize, & empower Americans from all corners of the country to welcome & support those seeking refuge here.' 200,000+ newcomers have been welcomed. (More than 125,000 but the Afghanis & Ukrainians were categorized as Humanitarian Parolees - as are now Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans - v. Refugees.) Who ARE the Refugees?? While we have no idea what the stream of illegal border crossers, visa overstays, U.S. birthing vacationers & those who fly into the U.S. & then ditch their visas (no statehood), is truly adding, the government is not as lost as it seems to be. CBO dot gov, The Demographic Outlook 2024 - 2054 projected the U.S. population increases from 342 million(!!?) people in 2024 to 383 million people in 2054. (Note the year's high est. pop. growth.) Net immigration increasingly drives population growth, accounting for ALL population growth beginning 2040. 'They' want the surge. They also want every cent they can get from the middle class whether by employing a broad guardianship "care economy" for seniors & others; additional Estate taxes, overall higher fees & taxes affecting fixed incomes in particular, etc. Without value - not making & causing $ to be spent in particular areas - they're (we're) a drain, and again living longer than originally anticipated. Can the dynasty class escape the political & economic mess it's creating? I, for one, hope not. Never fear. An orange manatee will sweep back into power, now that he's received an endorsement from the man he called a pedophile--and since he can conserve his energy no longer needing to say "DeSanctimonius," he got it all in control.
We're in good hands. Meanwhile, Axios is admitting that the dems want trump to be the nominee. Fuck, I wonder why. 2022 midterms were supposed to be coitus interruptus for the left. Instead it was multiple orgasms. Posted by: Marleysghost at January 23, 2024 12:29 PM (uxXx0) 432

"Use American Economic Power to Fix the Border Crisis"
Um... Ahem... That is exactly what Trump used to put Mexico in line with Remain in Mexico and also with the rest of the world. Economic leverage. We don't have much of it anymore. Posted by: Danimal28 at January 23, 2024 03:33 PM (klw0w) 434
"44. I was always at the party. I am a wallflower."
If that's the case, I stand corrected. This is the first time I recall ever hearing you say anything in a blog post about nullification. I hear you say a lot more about how "Trump is better than Biden." While I agree with that statement facially, "...he's better than Biden" is a pretty damning indictment of our broken system. And it's not going to get fixed by putting any specific person into office. Not anymore. Posted by: Gryph at January 23, 2024 05:13 PM (aCVzN) 435
