Danger Close Cafe

Annecy, "the Venice of France"

Falling rock absolutely obliterates compact car but don't worry, it appears that the passengers are shaken but unharmed, somehow.

Reviving a foal who's stopped breathing and appears dead.

Politician says that he will not accept that the road he's being interviewed about is a "highly dangerous road" as... a car crashes behind him.

Mountain to stream.

Nice getaway spot.

This woman's impersonation of a Japanese walking robot is perfect. I think this is the key: When a human lifts up his foot to take a step, he's actually falling forward and only catches himself when he sets his forward foot down. Walking creates an unbalanced, toppling kind of situation that only the step saves. Her impression of a Japanese robot does not include that falling-forward gait. The robot remains balanced through the step, and only shifts forward when both feet are firmly on the ground. And that's what she's doing.

The ghost who came to lunch.

Cobra getting all up in your grill. (Put the sound on.)

ALTERNATE LINK: Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your golden hair. I also embedded it at the end of the post, below.

Uber Elephant.

Cattanova.

That rockfall. The folks in the black car seem to be OK. But what about the ones in the car that got slammed against the dump truck? I don't see them out walking around.

The "dangerous road" clip appears to be from the 80s or something. His snarky little eye-lift right before the second crash is sheer hubris.

And, I disagree that "humans don't walk like that". But we don't do it in that way. I spent 4 years in an award0winning marching band, and we never fell forward. You didn't take the weight off the back foot until the front foot was positioned to take it. We had to walk in a way that meant our heads and our instruments did NOT bob up and down. (We wore the Q-tip hats for 2 of those years, too.)

Jewison died Saturday at home — his family does not want to specify exactly where — publicist Jeff Sanderson announced.

A seven-time Oscar nominee, Jewison received the prestigious Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences in 1999.

And then he goes over to the power button, leans down, he holds down the power button for between five to 10 seconds, probably 7 seconds, and it automatically puts the machine in safe mode.

And this reboot happens. And he then shows the judge the display and it shows a picture of the on off button as he’s pushing it for five to 10 seconds to instigate the reboot. But before you reboot the whole thing they'll
be something that comes up to ask if he wants to go into safe mode, and then he pushes. Yes. So it doesn’t shut it down or reboot. He just goes into safe mode. And that allows him to open up files and change the content of files."

And Publix does not, DOES NOT, sell Slim Jims. I had to go across the street to, of course, a 7-11 to get some, and they were almost $7 for a pair of two-packs.

The 7-11 had two pickups gassing up, and a big black jacked up F150 parked in front.

WTF Publix? It reinforces my opinion of the chain as being as boringly white-bread as they come.

Posted by: LASue at January 22, 2024 09:28 PM (Ed8Zd)

Gonna' go out on a limb here. Surprised you went here. But here we go.

Yes, you are correct. 8th grade boys are not capable of a "cock tease". Even at that age. They're getting to the point where they're trying to give it away.

They'll do the "look at how strong I am" tease. Hence most of the existence of middle and high school sports.

And boys from rich families, that are typical peckers, will do the "look at my money" tease. But even then, they can't do a "cock tease".

Because that's never, ever, the commodity in demand or negotiation. Unless you're a Sea Otter, and Nurse has back turned.

a professionally written incident report is a thing of beauty. It has to shine in providing information and sequence of actions, reflect the very finest in the tradition of technical writing, and make absolutely clear that nothing that happened was either your fault or even within your ability to affect or prevent.
