First-World Problems...

That's a large (14.5 inch) aluminum sauté pan* that is amazingly useful. When I got I thought it was a bit silly, but I use it more often than I expected. It holds heat reasonably well, and because it is so wide I can place it on my biggest burner and the flame doesn't lick around the edges and waste heat and singe my hands! I'll make fried cutlets or big batches of seared meat, and because it is so big it makes the process go much faster.

But over the years the pan has warped slightly in a particularly irritating way. It now slopes in, so the perimeter doesn't get an even layer of cooking oil. And to make things even more irritating in an entitled first-world way, it doesn't sit flush on the burner...tilting one way or the other. That requires constant attention or the food won't cook evenly!

The challenge is to flatten the bottom without creating an edge on the perimeter. If the pan has an edge it makes flipping the food more difficult.

Yes...I lie awake at night, obsessing over these sorts of questions.

The curved surfaces aren't nearly as important as the bottom, but could use the same set-up, only with a jig that mimics the curve.

41 My FWP was spending three hours trying to fix the top liner on my lay down freezer. It is a 40 year old inheritance, but the freezers made now are garbage so I have to keep this one going. The plastic of the liner is too brittle with age to be held in place with tabs or screws so I had to fashion some metal strips to back up the plastic.

I have the big All-Clad with the straight sides. That is a great pan, but I like this one for different sorts of cooking. besides, I can flip food in this one and I can't in the All-Clad because of the 90 degree angle.

Make sure you take into consideration the slope of the sides cutting down on the flat area. The 1st purchase of a carbon steel has quite a small flat diameter. I *just* had to buy the above to handle big beautiful rib eyes.

I'm guessing cuz it's recommended by Gordon Ramsay.

It does what it claims to do and seems to work very well, plus easy peasy to clean.

You should say 'non-US pronunciation'.
Both names came about around the same time and the non-US one has the blessing of standard chemical nomenclature where metals have the -ium ending except for those named long ago. In Latin, where this all started, we have cuprium, sodium, argentium, but aurum for gold.

113 My Mum had a small, very thin Al frying pan that could take 2 eggs. That was the pan she and I used for many years for frying eggs in the morning (Uganda). No problem with the occasional blackout in the morning. Mum would go outside with the pan, egg and butter in it, crumple some newsprint and light it. The egg(s) cooked before the flame was gone. Hey, Al is an excellent conductor of heat and electricity. We did have a small Primus stove which burned kerosene but it wasn't worth the effort.

139 I have dropped enough pans on the kitchen floor to realize that they dent pretty easily. That also means that getting the dent or warpage out shouldn't be that hard either. I would start by tapping with a mallet. You might need to do this weekly.

220 Despite my opposition to Trump, it was not because of being all in for DeSantis. I did think though he was a solid alternative in that he wasn't GOPe (he had a much better record than Trump did) and he showed he had appeal beyond just a deep red base.

All that being said, I think this election should have been a layup to beat Biden, but I still see Trump losing. I would say it's a coin flip if I go 3rd party or Trump. I think you're going to see (like Ace has said) about 15% of Republicans defecting. iI don't see Trump adding a single vote to what he had in 2020.

Four years ago, I had a 250 gallon propane tank buried in my yard, and hooked to the new gas cooktop in my kitchen.

The propane company called me wondering why they'd never been back to refill it. In four years of nearly everyday cooking, I used 50% of the tank, lol.

Now we have a 400,000 BTU pool heater attached to that same tank, and that heater burns about 4 gallons her hour it's on.

He was my first choice, but his campaign made the same mistakes Ted Cruz's 2016 campaign made. If he had said the things Vivek was saying, I think he would have had a good shot - but he's not a born campaigner, and it showed.

People want change, if there was a question on the ballot of "Biden or Not Biden", Not Biden would win overwhelmingly.

But that goes out the window if you strongly dislike someone, and even for people like me that mostly agree with Trump on an ideological level, I see him that way. Also, Trump has shown he's just a mess on every level, voters arent going to believe he's some "Mr FixIt", he sort of had that aura as an outside businessman in 2016, that's gone now.

If Trump wasn't on the ballot, turnout for Biden would be weak. But Biden and Democrats will have no turnout problems because "not Trump" is the biggest turnout machine ever. You'll see hundreds of millions (billions) from liberal oligarch billionaires pour in. Trump wont throw a nickel of his own money in it.

We're going to get destroyed top to bottom of the ballot, and anyone could have seen it coming and tried an alternative.

My guess is Trump will try to run again in 2028

After that, I rub it with oil again after use, and leave it on the stove for 10m or so at just below smoke point.

I assume at some point, none of these steps will be necessary.

Once law fare was employed against Trump, the primary was over. There was absolutely nothing anyone could have said or done once Trump became became a martyr.

No, they used to make the bottoms flat, and those warped when heated. They now put deliberately curve the bottom, so that when the pan warps with heat, it becomes flat. This is less of a problem with gas than electric or induction.

Induction works about as well as gas but at high heat settings, only move the pan very slightly as you can damage the magnetic element. Cast iron works great but you have to pick induction specific stainless to work. Some pans bond a magnetic steel base with an aluminum pan body. These can sometimes give a buzz as induction disks do if you use conventional non magnetic pans.

Overheat thermal switch has continuity.
Safety switch actuated by sliding control panel into bracket on tank shows continuity.
Element shows continuity.
Have yet to measure resistance of thermostat temp probe, but I suspect it is at fault.
Unit was built in 1996, not mine.

Trump does not play well in AZ, fwiw. 2022 was all about Trump and Republicans got slaughtered. It wasn't voter fraud either, the suburbs went hard against Republicans.

Trump's #1 issue is the border, he should play that hard.
