Feds Asked Banks to Conduct Warrantless Searches for Transactions Mentioning "MAGA" or "Trump;" Flagged Religious Texts as "Possible Extremism"

The Ham-and-Eggers at the FBI strike again.

So they're violating the First, Second, and Fourth Amendments.

To Save Democracy.

They're Great Americans.

Federal investigators asked banks to search and filter customer transactions by using terms like "MAGA" and "Trump" as part of an investigation into Jan. 6, warning that purchases of "religious texts" could indicate "extremism," the House Judiciary Committee revealed Wednesday in a letter obtained by Fox News Digital.

Fox News Digital has learned the committee also obtained documents that indicate officials suggested that banks query transactions with keywords like Dick's Sporting Goods, Cabela's, Bass Pro Shops and more.

The House Judiciary Committee and its subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government have been conducting oversight of federal law enforcement's "receipt of information about American citizens without legal process and its engagement with the private sector."

House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said the documents obtained by the committee indicate that after Jan. 6, 2021, the Treasury Department's Office of Stakeholder Integration and Engagement in the Strategic Operations of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, or FinCEN, distributed materials to financial institutions that outlined "typologies" of "various persons of interest" and provided the banks with "suggested search terms and Merchant Category Codes for identifying transactions on behalf of federal law enforcement."

The materials included a document recommending the use of generic terms like "Trump" and "MAGA" to "search Zelle payment messages" as well as a "prior FinCEN analysis" of "Lone Actor/Homegrown Violent Extremism Indicators."

"According to this analysis, FinCEN warned financial institutions of 'extremism' indicators that include 'transportation charges, such as bus tickets, rental cars, or plane tickets, for travel areas with no apparent purpose,' or 'the purchase of books (including religious texts) and subscriptions to other media containing extremist views,'" Jordan detailed in a letter to the former director of FinCEN, Noah Bishoff, a career employee.

Just going to go out on a limb here: "Religious texts" stating that Allah is great would not be the sort of texts that the FBI would be allowed to flag for warrantless searches, right?

No, they wouldn't. My friend Rich Higgins talked a lot about the Obama Administration inviting in Muslim Brotherhood members to advise and veto any instruction about what kinds of religious slogans jihadists would use.

That was protected religious expression which is forbidden to be used for investigatory purposes.

But your Gutter Religion, Christians? It's open season on you.

Some people have religious liberty, other people are slaves.

36 When they say, "religious texts," that is a very very short list. Most people would not typically include commentaries or books on topics of religion. So what are we talking about? The Bible, the Quran, the Torah, the Vedas, the Tripitaka, the Guru Granth Sahib, the Tao Te Ching, the Book of Mormon, the Avesta, the Bhagavad Gita, and maybe one or two other books are possibilities.

I think ace is right on the money. When they say, "religious texts" they are only talking about purchases of the Bible, and possibly the Book of Mormon.

This is disgusting and this practice of private enterprise doing the spying and other dirty businesses of government is literal, dictionary definition fascism.

Who's writing "MAGA" on the memo line of their check to the gas company?

No, they're checking your Amazon purchases, seeing if you're buying books written by Ben Shapiro or Rosanne Barr. They're checking how many times you shop at Cabela's. And needless to say they're viewing your Farcebook posts, where you share a meme with the lady yelling at the cat, something like "Biden is restoring our norms," while the cat sits there with a place setting that has a Louder With Crowder mug.

75 People keep using the word "religion" as if it were some special way of organizing society that only comes with a belief in God or gods--or even mystic things.

It's not, it's a societal organization force that used to be most associated with the communally-agreed highest values. We would use the leverage we had with each other to draw attention to the path of Should and to remind other people what values were in jeopardy.

Christianity, not often known, is a bit different. Although it did become a large societies store of highest values. But how often did Jesus say "Tell no one" or "I come only to", or "He who has ears, let him hear".

Even though it did not turn out this way, it was begun as a model of voluntary association with chosen values.

What I'm trying to say is that Government now uses this societal organizing force. It *is* "a religion".

91 In Lebanon the big problem is the banks won't give you your money, They don't have it, and are trying to hold off a bank runn that will destroy them all.

Same thing happened here during the Depression. Assets frozen - but they still demanded payment on debts.

Things can, and will, get much worse. History says so, and human nature hasn't changed.

Good point and I agree to a certain extent. While the classic Italian, Irish, and Jewish mobs were beaten and broken, other ethic mobs rose up to take their place. Russian, Albanian (completely insane motherfuckers), Hispanic, African, etc. It's just that the FBI had little interest in going after them. Too much work, too dangerous. Many words could be spilled on this topic, but let's just say, people need a source from which to anchor their set of values.

What matters to me? What is important, what gets me out of bed in the morning, helps me through the hard times?

Religion has been that, and it was generally assumed in this country, that people shared MOST of those values acquired through religion, and channeled it into a coherent political culture and philosophy.

What we're seeing, I believe, is how empty that political framework is, when it's not supported by religion, or if you will SOME set of values that can be generally agreed upon.

So the nation's "leaders" go around wearing our political framework like a skin suit, because it's not enough. It was never meant to be enough.

130 As Christianity used to be the mode of our previous system of values, Government, which now wants to be the source of our shared values, inevitably reacts to it as an enemy religion.

Again, these are just theologically-based systems that act in this manner. Society does.

Secular governance is a Church (of sorts) that the power of government was not be entangled with. However government became its own entity (and now its own society) and could not stop the self same government from creating its own creed.

Because only sectish creeds are prohibited.

The founders didn't want the government to become the arbiter of our highest values.

Religious? Domestic extremist.

And those aren't mutually required. For example, if you're a Trump supporter because "fuck you" but you can't articulate anything about MAGA and have never read the bible, you're *still* an "extremist." There is probably a lot of overlap in the Venn Diagram, but it is by no means total.

172 The remaining conservative justices were less dogmatic but made little effort to conceal their distaste for Chevron. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Amy Coney Barrett played it straight at first, asking real questions that hinted at an understanding of the mess that’ll flow from Chevron’s demise. But by the end of arguments, both were hounding Prelogar with telltale complaints about the ostensibly arbitrary and power-drunk executive branch crushing the rule of law. Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, who have gone on the record against Chevron, were only a bit subtler than Gorsuch and Kavanaugh. The writing’s on the wall of the marble palace, despite the liberals’ fierce fight.

.. this is written like these justices don't read the material in advance. Many, if not all of the justices, have already discussed the case among themselves, finding trouble spots that they will ask about.

190 The "Lemon Test" was the cover by which the entire system was diverted. Since people couldn't petition the government with personal, albeit sectish motivations, it reduced the distribution to the power to only those whose motivations could be described as "wholly secular in intent", i.e. not religious.

So, the most insistent secular cause could take over the entire government, even if that cause was living off the government and expanding the government's power.

Democracy--or even a constitutional republic--cannot perfectly withstand the corruption of the human will, or the cooption of a party.

And this was put into motion with the start of cause-based politics becoming the main value over the projected interest-based politics. The Nationalists or Progressives made it a shame that "you are only looking out for your interests", but it was the separation by interest, that Madison projected would keep the government in balance.

My making government the organ of wholly-secular policies, it told Christians they can't vote the Christian interest.

So, in this way cause consumed the government "of the people".

We have more foreign born here, than ever before in US history. 1.5 million LEGAL immigrants per year, over 30 years, is 13.5% of the total population... now add in ILLEGALS which even the government says is 30 million.

So at LEAST 20% of the US population, was not born here... at the MINIMUM. Government of course, will not admit this, and says the % is much lower... but.. math... its what's for breakfast.

They take cameras behind the curtains in Chicago airport, where illegals are stacked up on the floor. Also went into a police station, where a bunch of them are staying.

Apparently the illegals harass the cops as they come in and out of the building. And they say the stench in these places is overwhelming.

277 You can hear the dynamic in their speech. The Constitutions limitations frustrate them because what if they had a really great cause ?

Why is it a good thing that the Constitution limits them from the press of their cause? It's a really good cause.

However to the founders a "really great idea" should get a broad, majority or supermajority consensus!

This is not how progressives think. The define themselves as on the + side of the curve of "progress", and yet, wise secular selfs that they are, "rights are what we agree to give each other". However, they've already defined ~50% of the people as "not progressive enough", so they admit that we really don't have an > 50% consensus on "what we give each other", and they've already narrowed it down to what matters is the people with the right mindset.

So they just mean what the best people have agreed to give everybody else.

Progressives lie a lot, but often like a good salesman, to themselves first.

You can call it "religion" or you can shrug at that label.

The societal and formal coercion are much the same.

And that has to do with "The Vision", or what they want to make "progress" toward.

Modern man has pressed all his sins into the goat of "Religion" and abandoned it to Abaddon (the wilderness).

Thus it is no longer *our* sin, but the fault of belief in God or gods, or other "primitive" ideas.

Just like the Marxist presses all the sins of Man into the goat of "Capitalism" and banishes that one. And all of our problems melt away.

Yes, modern, *progressive* man by thinking he is advanced reacts primitive rituals.

My dad told me a story about the contrasting approaches to engineering between NASA and Space X.

The problem was getting two spaceships to hook together.

NASA was trying to refine the system it's always used: getting two spaceships in perfect alignment first, and then bringing them together.

Space X developed a hook.

Easy.
To fly, you need your "gold star" ID, but illegals don't.
To drive, you need a driver's license, but illegals don't.
To vote, you need to be a citizen, but illegals don't.
To enroll in school, you need to be a resident, but illegals don't.
To qualify for "social safety net" programs, you have to prove need, but illegals don't.

What's one more double standard?

Authorities announced on Monday two more police officers present during the January 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol have died by suicide. This brings the total to four officers who have taken their own lives following the insurrection.
*snip*
Hashida, 43, was a week away from celebrating his birthday. He was married with three children. It is unclear how he took his own life.

Later on Monday, a department official also announced MPD Officer Kyle DeFreytag was found dead on July 10. A memorial service was held for DeFreytag over the weekend. There was no information provided about how DeFreytag died.

We're seeing it against Catholics, and that's one of the reasons why I'm so proud to serve on the Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Government because the American people want answers. When it wasn't universal here in upstate NY I always walked out and went elsewhere. After a while I figured out to ask for a couple slices of pizza or an ice cream, or just brought as much merch as I could carry to the checkout before asking for cigarettes.
Always felt bad for the workers getting minimum wage for a crap job, but a few rude ones solved that.
