Surprise! "Republican" Senators "Negotiate" a "Deal" on Immigration That Includes, Get This, More Immigration and No More Security
Update: It's Even Worse

I'm about to just defect from this party and never, ever vote for it again.

The only good thing is that Speaker Johnson replied "absolutely not" to this deal -- but what can a razor-thin House majority do when the entire Republican Party is Corporate Open Borders?

According to the Immigration Accountability Project, the proposed Senate deal would:

Increase green cards by 50,000/year

Work permits for adult children of H-1B holders

Immediate work permits to every illegal alien released from custody

Taxpayer-funded lawyers to certain UACs and mentally incompetent aliens

Expulsion authority for a limited number of days only if encounters exceed 5K/day over a seven-day period

Restrict parole for those who enter without authorization between ports of entry

Johnson has told the Senate that the House-passed H.R. 2 border security bill must be the baseline of a deal.

He says that the provisions of the House bill are crafted to work together to fix the problem, and that removal of one or more of the major provisions would render the bill ineffective at stopping the flow of migrants.

I've had it. The endless betrayals disguised as mere "failures."

It's enough. The "Republicans" are just the Democrats who want to do more overt favors for their liberal corporate donors.

I'm done. I'm done. Let it burn. I'm going to vote for Democrats -- at least they'll bear the burden for the collapse.

I am now a Democrat for tactical purposes. I am tired of Failure Theater. I am tired of betrayal after betrayal after betrayal.

You want to just serve the liberal corporate leadership, Republicans? Fine. Keep taking their filthy bribes. And you'll see how many votes they can actually deliver.

Meanwhile, blue states are blue states are spending taxpayer money on free health care for illegals, even those illegals who didn't even bother getting an asylum hearing date.

Left-leaning states around the U.S. have begun expanding healthcare options for illegal immigrants, with some of them not being required to show important papers such as green cards.

California is the most recent state to implement policies that offer health insurance to all illegal immigrants in the state through its program, Medi-Cal, the state's version of Medicaid.

In the past, illegal immigrants in the state were not qualified to get comprehensive health insurance, but could only get emergency services under Medi-Cal, according to ABC News. California state Sen. Maria Durazo said about 700,000 illegal immigrants between ages 26 and 49 are eligible for full coverage.

"This historic investment speaks to California's commitment to health care as a human right," Durazo said in a statement, using the phrase "undocumented residents" to describe the recipients.

Last week, California state Rep. Bill Essayli introduced legislation to revoke all taxpayer funding of healthcare for illegal immigrants.

"It is unconscionable to spend billions of taxpayer dollars to give universal healthcare to illegal immigrants when our own citizens cannot afford their own healthcare on top of historic inflation and the highest cost of living in the nation," Essayli wrote on the social media platform, X.

Update: It gets better and better, writes Amber Duke.

Some details of the latest congressional border deal, negotiated by Republican senator James Lankford and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, dropped Saturday. Conservatives didn't have high hopes for negotiations, but the reported deal is worse than imagined.

The Senate has been tight-lipped about discussions, but Rosemary Jenks, government relations director at the Immigration Accountability Project, says sources familiar with the negotiations have leaked details to her. The current framework of the deal reportedly involves expanding legal immigration and providing greater incentives to illegal immigrants in exchange for slight changes to border policy.

...

CBS News has also reported that border talks have expanded in recent days to include Afghan evacuees.
In exchange for these policy changes, Republicans would get tighter asylum laws, which means immigrants would have to meet a higher standard to qualify, and expedited deportations of families with children.

...

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell reportedly told GOP senators in a meeting earlier this week that they ought to vote for the Schumer-Lankford deal because they wouldn't get anything during a Trump presidency. He also allegedly described it as a "good deal". It will be a non-starter for many in the House, since it does not meaningfully address border security and seems more focused on left-wing priorities related to faster processing times and more opportunities for legal immigrants. It'd be hard to argue that the proposal would lead to any significant reduction in illegal crossings, since the incentives for those who make it into the US still exist. In fact, handing out work permits to those who are caught and released would arguably make the problem worse. Not to mention that setting the threshold for expedited removal at 5,000 crossings/day or 150,000 a month means codifying crisis levels.

In other words, the "deal" sets a minimum level of illegal immigration which will be treated as normal and permitted. This level is higher than the maximum monthly illegal immigration under Trump.

Secede? I didn't explicitly SAY that, y'know. But, I'd be happy if we made it damn near impossible for any Feddle three-letter to invade. Oh, and don't let them leave the immediate airport grounds, of wherever they fly in to.

This is twaddle that we tell ourselves, the GOP has controlled the power of the purse, ie Congress for 22 of the last 30 years, starting in 1995, they controlled it for a block of 12 years, a block of 8 years and now for a block of two years, the donks by comparison have controlled it for two 4 year blocks.

So if your saying all of the bad shit that's happened over the last 30 years is all on Donks and the GOP are just innocent bystanders caught up in the maelstrom, that's something you're telling yourself to assuage whatever it your trying to assuage.

"Duncanthrax, there’s a lot on my mind.

Later today, Republicans will vote in the Iowa Caucus.

While we won’t know the winner until results are called, polls are giving us a pretty good indication that Donald Trump, a man who has been impeached twice for high crimes and misdemeanors, looks to be cruising to victory. And not just in Iowa — he seems to be running away with the GOP nomination for president, despite facing four criminal indictments, two civil lawsuits, and 91 criminal counts across jurisdictions.

The Republican Party has had numerous chances to denounce Trump’s criminal behavior and turn away from this charlatan. They didn’t — landing us where we are today.

There’s no skirting around it: Donald Trump and the toxic brand of politics he represents are the new foundation of the Republican Party.

That gives us a choice to make: Will we let a demagogue lie, cheat, and steal his way back into power — or will we stand up forcefully, more than ever before, to fight for the values we hold dear?"

The only difference between the parties is how quickly they will sell out actual US citizens on a given subject. McConnell is a political and social cancer.

It's Dems and Uniparty R's fault...we've sent so few non-Uniparty Rs in, it's hard to even hold a line. Normally, it's "things stay the same", then Dems get in charge for 2 years and wildly move the line, then we hold it again, then Dems get in charge for 2 years and wildly change the line...repeat...we never turn it back b/c we don't have the true R votes...

Virginia, Indiana, and Utah were the states with the greatest increase in diagnoses between 2018 and 2022 The only state to see a decrease was South Dakota, which banned gender-affirming care for minors in 2023.

For patients under the age of 18, gender dysphoria diagnoses increased from 17.5 percent to 20.4 percent during the four-year period. The report notes this could be reflective of transgender identities becoming "more accepted by society," in spite of the legislators pushing health care bans.

The Williams Institute estimates that 1.6 million people in the U.S. are transgender, nearly 20 percent of them being between the ages of 13 and 17.

This isn't about Israel. Israel is the excuse the Houthis are using, but it isn't the cause or the problem.

The problem is the security of major trading routes. If there is a faction within the Party that thinks that we mustn't defend trade routes because it could be interpreted as pro-Israel - and there probably *is* such a faction - then that faction risks destroying the entire basis of American power over an unsophisticated and bluntly retarded interpretation of current events.

If that's the case, I could see it driving significant internal conflict and skulduggery.

As I've said more times than I care to, the Hooties are just a bunch of backward, bumblefux, who happen to be getting the short end of the American/Saudi Industrial Complex's neverending purchase and sale of arms.

I don't really care about them, and nobody else does either, including Iran, as they're just pawns in a much much MUCH larger game.

So when the Hooties start firing on ships, they're basically just saying "We're here, and we matter."

Which, maybe they don't, but that's what they're saying. But in Washington DC? They're really just part of that divide: Who is the Big Dog in the middle east... Iran or Israel, and that's the civil war in this administration.

It has nothing to do with shipping routes or the Hooties. Not really.

308 The Green Berets figure you help the bad guys beat the bad, bad guys. Yes, the GOP sucks. But the Democrats booed God at their convention, and fanatically push child chopping, in the womb and outside it.

311 Rush used to say it's like the victim of domestic abuse. Though they keep getting smacked around, they go back instead of doing the rational thing and leaving. It's psychological (with a dash of corruption). Nothing else really makes sense. Why there should be any 'deal' I don't know. It's like gun control. "We need new laws!" No, we already have laws. Trying enforcing those before coming up with new ones that only favor one party.

As a Christian I also know that God made plagues (Exodus 8:1-15). Not everything God makes is a reward for us.

313 Aren't the Houtis just degenerate scummy pirates? I assume they attack ships for loot and ransom and the occasional stray goat to fuck. I don't think they're doing this for any higher purpose. Are they?
Posted by: Elric Blade at January 15, 2024 01:28 PM (iFTx/)

It might be a safe assumption, if they did this sort of thing all the time, but they don't. So here we are, in the middle of a larger conflagration over there, and suddenly they're trying to disrupt the supply route?

Why now? Either they just do what Iran tells them, or they're doing, as I've suggested above, trying to let the world know they exist, and that they've been subjected to horrific genocide, at the hands of the Saudi-controlled Yemeni government (with U.S. backing, of course).

The Republicans are just Progressives who want lower taxes and to do the progress a little slower and more orderly.

318 Here's my compromise -

An increase in legal immigration in exchange for

Immediate deportation of all illegals
20 years prison for any business owner or board hemploying illegals
Rejection of all asylum claims that didn't originate in a US embassy
Huge fines and prison for any NGO participating in any way with trafficking illegals
Schumer and Lankford stripped of all committee and leadership positions and to take the Cersei Lannister walk of shame

319 What we need is a Constitutionalist party that emphasizes morality, responsibility, and freedom. It needs to explain it, evangelize it, and insist on it from anyone in a position of authority - elected or not. And it needs to run on repealing most everything, tearing down the edifice of bureaucracy, and throwing people out on their ear - civil servant, elected official, appointed official, judge, magistrate, DA, anyone - who violates the US or state Constitution. And suing them, too.

Add in for the NGOs that any of them directly supporting illegal immigration to America are designated enemies of the US. (So helping them makes you a traitor.) This includes those NGOs who simply pay for the first set of NGOs - no matter how deep it goes.

323 I'm not allowed to say what I believe needs to be done to resolve this, but the names McConnell, Cornyn, Lankford, along with all the other Republican traitors, should be held in the same regard as Hitler. They and their families need to suffer the same fate.

324 I just finished reading The Attack by Kurt Schlicter. This imagines ten thousand terrorists sneaking into the USA and killing a couple hundred thousand Americans in an attack similar to what happened in Israel on October 7.

The terrorists simply walked across the border from Mexico and claimed they were selling asylum. Then they accepted their free phone and free travel and spread across the USA.

Also the terrorists were organized into three waves. The first wave attacked public places, then the day after that the second wave killed people inside their homes, then the day after that the third wave attacked oil refineries and other infrastructure.

I recommend reading it. It glosses over the details so it won't turn your stomach to treat it, but it makes the possible problems more real. Anyone voting for anything other than closing the border should be forced to treat this book.

P.S. There is one chapter that is much more fun than the others. It describes how one of the terrorist teams got taken out by some citizens in Texas.

Another chapter was grimly satisfying: it describes what happened to Antifa. (Martial law. Arrests, executions.)

327 Well Ace, since I don't believe a single word that comes out of Speaker Johnson's mouth, I'd say any official response of his is meaningless. He's already proven to be a 100% sellout but then, I've come to expect such from House Republicans. They already use "our razor thin majority," as their way of waving off their betrayals.

329 "Human rights" do not exist under the Constitution, which exists to establish a government of limited powers.

Part of that limitation---augmenting the limitations it imposes on the government by enumerating what powers the government has---is the limitation imposed by civil rights, which are rights held by the individual against the government.

That is to say, the only legitimate civil rights under the Constitution are the rights which permit the individual to slap the government down when it overreaches, the way you slap a naughty dog on the snout with a rolled-up newspaper.

"Human rights" are special privileges granted BY the government to favored groups---and there is no place for "group rights," or "group privileges" under the Constitution.
