Wolf Wake-Up Service Cafe

valleyofthegodschielr.jpg
Valley of the Gods, Utah
by @chielr

A crafty father "lets his kids stay up for New Years," wink.

Some Instagram posts:

Sorano, Italy. Neat. Not picturesque, but neat.

I've got a great idea -- let's take a hot air balloon above the clouds and lower a trampoline beneath it on cables. And then let's jump up and down on the trampoline at 10,000 feet! Who's with me?!

Not sure why, but ten dogs, and one pig, take their little carts out. Maybe they're going to the market?

Horse-drawn skiing.

A prominent promontory.

Back to Twitter links:

Studious boy.

The Outer Limits, but for dogs.

The Twilight Zone, but for dogs.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but for dogs.

Instagram, but for dogs.

9 No place on the planet with a higher concentration of rugged beauty than Utah.

Too many uncertainties between now and then, but I would strong consider retiring to that general area. Between Monument Valley and Blanding, Monticello, and Moab. Not much there, people wise.

Which..... ain't a drawback.

I'll try to get there someday soon. As you drive south on I-17, toward Phoenix, at one point the saguaros just suddenly appear, on both sides of the highway. They're everywhere. 39 The birds, which, in some places, are numerous beyond all calculation, form their nests in holes in the ground, each nest containing only a single white egg. The young ones are seized before they are quite fledged; and, after the bones are taken out, the skin is closed round the flesh, and they are pickled in vinegar impregnated with spices.

the provisional government of the Oregon Territory was formed around the organization put together by the settlers to pay out bounties on wolves, and a probate court to dispose of the estate of a very rich settler who died intestate.
Since the current government taxes the hell out of estates and is releasing wolves into the state without the consent of the farmers, I think it has lost its justification to exist.

I used to watch Cesar Milan back in the day. He used to recommend cart pulling for energetic dogs (or carrying a pack of water bottles) because it gives them a sense of purpose and wears them out faster. In that case he said it works better than leash since the dog won't pull on the owner as much but just do the job and get a lot of satisfaction out of it.

To me, the amazing part of driving north on I-17 was first desert with the cacti, as you mentioned, then scrub desert around Flower Pot and Wet Beaver Wilderness (no, really) and then the pines south of Flagstaff and then the ski areas north of Flagstaff. Not to mention the Grand Canyon north of the city. In four or so hours of driving such a variety of environments.

198 lol at REI from below.

I once ended up getting a free pair of ski boots there. I bought them and was also getting my skis tinted there. Girl at the counter charged me for the tune, didn’t charge me for the boots. And I didn’t correct her. She most likely thought the boots were mine and I brought them with me to get my bindings adjusted.

Free $650 boots. About $850 in today’s worthless USD.

I think of it as white reparations.
