I cleared about 4 inches of really dry powder with ice under it over two acres this morning with a Bobcat.
Took about 2 1/2 hours.
Lots of fun but damn cold.
I'm trying to thaw out still.

I conteplated getting the sweeper attachment out and just putting it in reverse to do todays task but it had been driven on.
Would I have woken up when I intended to I would have and the lot would have cleared complete today but I failed to drag my lame ass out of bed.
Now it's half assed and I think snow tomorrow. More fun and I will dress warmer.
Last year this time the place was a snow fortress.

Lot of frozen equipment in Tahoe this time if year.
Stuff that heater in the snow behind whatever it was and fire it up.
Stay warm in the truck until the whole thing thawed out.
Fire up their machine, put it to work and hand them the bill.

I remember a weird story from a novel by the guy who wrote Gorky Park. He talked about a Russian, who drank super high alcohol vodka that had content of alcohol so high no level of cold could freeze it. He didn’t realize it was the super high alcohol booze, and how cold it was outside. and as soon as he put it down his throat, he croaked. The point of this is other than being a weird story is that science was involved.

289 282, do you know the word? my understanding is 190 proof is as high as you can go with normal distillation. That’s why Everclear in those types of products at 190. They say you can increase the alcohol percentage but the cost of doing so it completely un worth it and you have to do it I guess in a laboratory setting.

When you freeze cider, or “jack” it you increase a lot of the Esthers and fusel oils so it will give you a huge headache and it is unhealthy. They all use classic distillation now like they do when making French Calvados.

Pure alcohol is called "quill" and it is made by treating the 90% stuff with sulfuric acid to react out the water. The think is that alcohol is hygroscopic, so if you leave the 100% open it will draw water from the air and give you more liquor than you had before.
