Finances are a major thing in a society, how money moves, and the value of the money is a big influence on societies.
at the moment we have a major issue with inflation that the powers that be are trying to paper over and hide so they can keep in the catbird seat. The methods of the USSR and the US to keep the status quo while the money goes to sh__ is going to be the same since the outlook on it is the same.

His argument is that firings can be as big as you'd like so long as it is a layoff (a "Reduction in Force" or RIF). You can't target personnel to get rid of the worst of the bunch, you can can indiscriminately fire as many people as you want in a layoff.
So randomly firing 50% would be legal. Strategically firing 10% of the worst bastards would not be.
Dunno if it's true, but I like the idea. Just do it 2-3 times in the first two years.
