That chick that jumps into water. I've seen videos where she does that at greater and greater height. Eventually, well before terminal velocity is reached, the impact energy is little different than jumping into a slab of concrete. You can think of the force increasing with the ratio of your jump height (potential energy) to the distance you plunge through the water (energy absorbed), becoming hyperbolic.

no diminution of Christmas lights out here among the cows&corn...
it's really lovely to be driving along pre-dawn in country darkness and see an enormous star outlined in lights on a ridgeline a few miles away or a 60 foot pine tree wrapped in hundreds of feet of lights in someone's yard or the dedicated folks who fill their yards with lights, everywhere makes you feel Linus' speech from Charlie Brown's Christmas Posted by: sock_rat_eez - these lying bastardi e stronzi have been lying for decades at December 22, 2023 09:12 PM (kc18b) 203
Blaster,
Dec 24, 1976. I was a second lieutenant in the army and the officer of the guard at a classified site storing classified government high explosives. It was about 22 degrees and about six inches of snow on the ground. Four guard towers, two men each, plus a relief group. And the immediate reaction force in case of attack. I walked the perimeter and looked up. The sky was awash in stars. I suddenly wasn't feeling poorly at all. It was a glorious night. I felt great and I made sure my troops felt it too. From earlier-
BELTRAN: So there's been a whole lot of people thinking and theorizing about white supremacy. And all of these scholars share a view that I share, that whiteness is not the same thing as white people and that whiteness is actually better understood as a political project that has emerged historically, and that is dynamic and that is always changing. And so whiteness as an ideology is rooted in America's history of white supremacy -- right? -- which has to do with the legacy of slavery or Indigenous dispossession or Jim Crow. And I think it's important to realize just how long in this country legal discrimination was not simply culturally acceptable but legally authorized. OK, explain to me how many non-white countries were not mistreating minorities in 1776? Ever heard of how the Japanese treated the Ainu or even the Okinawans. Indigenous disposition indeed. As for the legacy of slavery, who was selling Africans to slave traders? If you guessed rival African tribes you are correct. And there was a thriving Muslim slave trade, which is one of the most persistent today. Beltran wants to bash America, this whole diatribe is a bunch of BS.
