Arundel Castle, England

The ultimate battle: The Devil versus... Mr. Roarke.

Baby tigers walking around a living room.

Coming through! (I saw a different version of this a while back. It's a stunt.)

Drone flyovers of Neuschwannstein Castle. I'm seeing all sorts of angles now!

Man tries to remove little koala from the road, but he's a feisty one!

Do you know why he does those stupid duck commercials?

When the governments shut down the country to remove Trump, his fundraisers for the children's charities he and his wife founded and maintain dried up.

He went on TV to look foolish with an animated duck entirely to continue supporting the little kids.

It turns out he's a really great guy. Very driven, and with high expectations of the people and players around him, but his public persona is very much a "trump said pussy" creation.

66 Addendum: The oldest feature is the motte, an artificial mound, over 100 feet high from the dry moat, and constructed in 1068: followed by the gatehouse in 1070. Under his will, King Henry I (1068-1135) settled the Castle and lands in dower on his second wife, Adeliza of Louvain. Three years after his death she married William d'Albini II, who built the stone shell keep on the motte. King Henry II (1133-89), who built much of the oldest part of the stone Castle, in 1155 confirmed William d'Albini II as Earl of Arundel, with the Honour and Castle of Arundel.

Apart from the occasional reversion to the Crown, Arundel Castle has descended directly from 1138 to the present day, carried by female heiresses from the d'Albinis to the Fitzalans in the 13th century and then from the Fitzalans to the Howards in the 16th century and it has been the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk and their ancestors for over 850 years. From the 15th to the 17th centuries the Howards were at the forefront of English history, from the Wars of the Roses, through the Tudor period to the Civil War.

AFP; January 1, 2024 2:07 pm
Four people have been confirmed dead in the powerful earthquake that rocked Japan, the Kyodo news agency reported early Tuesday, citing authorities in Ishikawa prefecture.

The 7.5-magnitude quake struck the prefecture on the Sea of Japan side of the main island of Honshu on Monday, triggering tsunami waves over a metre high, damaging homes, and setting off a major fire.

135 Bow down to Washington
Bow down to Washington
Mighty are the men who wear the purple and the gold
Joyfully we welcome them into the victor's fold
We will Carve their name
In the Hall of Fame
To preserve The memory of our devotion!

Heaven help the foes of Washington
They're trembling at the feet of mighty Washington
Our boys are here with bells
Their fighting blood excels
It's harder to push em over the line than cross the Dardanelles.

So victory the cry of Washington
A leather lung together with
A rah rah rah!
And o'er the land our loyal band
Will sing the glories of Washington
Forever!

Shawn Gorham @shawngorham 6h
One meeting, one phone call can change the trajectory of your life

In 2000 I had a brand new wife (less than 6 months) who was 18 years old and a 6 month old son

I owned a roof removal business/demoltion company with 8 employees. I was 21

It was an El Niño year = a lot of rain = not many work days

We were broke, had no savings, no family help and fighting to make it in every area of life

After the rain stopped I got a call from Sexton Roofing, new customer, needing a couple hundred squares of wood shake torn off at a local HOA. It was a good size job and I needed the work

I drove my 1963 Ford C600 dump truck with guys in the back and we worked for 2 weeks tearing off roofs

The invoice was just over $13,000 - literally ALL my net worth

For two weeks I kept asking about billing, payment terms and who to send the bills to - NO response. I couldn't get a hold of anyone at Sexton Roofing

So I drove to the job one day. There was one worker there on a large job. [...]

212 The Jeep Renegade had already been dropped for next year before the current sales figures came out.

Stellantis was most anxious to spread the Jeep name around the combine, and basically came up with one kind of Jeep for each of their major production facilities. The Renegade was supposed to be the cheapest one, but was only $500 less than the next model up, making the Fiat underpinnings a hard sell.

Old Jeep hands from the Kaiser era had a saying, "Then we brought in a new owner." There's a general feeling that Stellantis will sell off the whole brand name, and the sort-of hope is that Mahindra will end up with the traditional Toledo lines. At least they have built Jeeps before.

You may notice that the very big very expensive Grand Wagoneer does not say Jeep anywhere on it.

>>I understand that the Gladiator is popular with the overlanding set.

It's very popular with Off-Roading and Overlanding set.

It's essentially a 4 door Wrangler with a bed.

Now if they would put the HEMI into the Gladiator, that would probably goose the sales numbers, the Gladiators sales numbers are fairly low.

But Stellantis is doing away with their ICE engines, especially their V8.

I expect and EV Gladiator before we'd ever see a V8 Gladiator.

216 The old Jeep Scrambler was the "Gladiator", before there was a "Gladiator".

Difference being, the Scrambler was a single cab body, with a longer, more useful "pickup" bed, which was in the Olde Jeepe Style, with the narrower box, external fenders, and outward angled upper 6" of right/left bed-panels.

And of course, it was bereft of all Federal Requirements, other than some Gen 1 engine management stuff in it's later years, and maybe the three point belts and padded dash & steering wheel.

Powered by the legendary 4.0 inline six, it was a Jeep, allright, but alas, also a sales flop, and didn't catch on. I think if they'd had extended the cab with a 1 ft. extension aft of the seats, for some secure, dry stowage, they would've had a runaway hit with the thing.

>>I don't know what overlanding set means,

It's off-road camping and trail exploration.

Here's a Gladiator, a Wrangler and a 4Runner going through The Alexander MacKenzie Trail on an epic adventure.

This will give you a rough idea on what overlanding is.

222 I’ve had my four door Jeep Wrangler for 13 years. I bought it mainly because I figured the body style would never significantly change.
