Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Joyeux Noel Cafe![]() Alsace, France part of the Alsace-Strasbourg Christmas Market It's almost too many waterfalls. Funny voice-overs for dogs. Movie night. If the world was run by pandas, we wouldn't have any wars! We'd also all be dead. Cat burglar. Say, that sparks a memory: I used to like a movie when I was a kid, which probably was actually terrible, called The Thief Who Came to Dinner with Ryan O'Neal playing some kind of white collar drudge who realizes the whole system is corrupt so he becomes a daring cat burglar. (Every third movie in the 70s had this plot.) I believe it costarred the woman I grew up in love with, Jacqueline Bisset. Anyway: It's not available digitally. I could probably by an old physical copy. So my question is: Has anyone seen this movie as an adult, and is it any good? When I was a kid, I loved every cat burglar movie (including one of the Pink Panther sequels; any burglary that includes a crossbow was very much a hit with the younger me). But I have no idea if it actually was good at all, or if I was just a kid easily impressed with the most basic "tradecraft" of burglary. I imagine kids in the 90s thought that crossing a floor of dancing lasers was really really cool, at least the first 537 times they saw it. Anyway, let me know. I want to see that movie. (I think.) Update: I've found clips on YouTube. It... it does not look good. Some good bongo playing in the very-seventies credits. Speaking of Jacqueline Bisset, a few months ago I watched the 80s sex comedy Class. Rob Lowe and Andrew McCarthy are students at an expensive boarding school (McCarthy's on scholarship), and McCarthy winds up banging Jacqueline Bisset, who turns out to be Rob Lowe's mom. It was... also not great. On the other hand, Heaven Help Us was pretty good, despite not really having an ending that resolved any of the plot points. Okay, back to the cute vids: Dog is given a choice of which waffle to give to the pig, the nice one, or the burned one. He makes the right call. This kind of thing happens in Australia. (As does this.) Feeding the crocs. Top Gun graduate.

I spent all day installing a humidifier on my furnace what a pain in the ass. The big issue was inaccurate wiring diagrams leading to finally taking a 50 foot reel of 18 gauge wire and a multimeter, and trying combinations until it all worked.

Yeah that wiring.
Use a jumper between 24v to Out unless you don't use an A50 relay, but if you do run one half of 24v in series to the humidifier solenoid, unless that is unnecessary. Then run the A50 directly to the solenoid unless you don't. In this case run one side of the 120/24AC transformer to the A50 without the jumper. Worst. Wiring. Diagrams. Ever. Stolen from IMDB:
The movie rights to the novel by were purchased by producer Peter Guber when the book was still in galley form for $500,000, plus percentages. Guber read the novel in one evening after Benchley had finished writing the novel during late 1975. The deal for the film rights was struck on November 5, 1975 in the same year that Jaws (1975) was released. When the novel was published in early 1976, it went to the number one spot within two weeks of publication, and stayed on the best-seller lists for six months. The picture was notable for its opening underwater diving sequence featuring Jacqueline Bisset in a black bikini bottom and see-through wet t-shirt, thus launching her as a Hollywood sex symbol, and contributing big word-of-mouth for the movie, assisting with its box-office success. According to the book "Hit and Run: How Jon Peters and Peter Guber Took Sony for a Ride in Hollywood" (1996), Producer Peter Guber allegedly once said, "That t-shirt made me a rich man!" Went to Biltmore (historic mansion in NC) yesterday with the wife. All told, it was 5 hours in the car, 5 hours at the place, not a good travel ratio in my mind. Anyway, waiting for lunch, I saw a great Christmas gift for my wife I but didn't want her to see me buy it and ruin the surprise. Needless to say, I forgot to go back after lunch to buy it. Today, I was able to order the item from Biltmore online. Cost me 50 bucks more and will almost certainly not be here in time for Christmas. Happy freaking Holidays.

Here's something you didn't know:
The US Forestry service doesn't have any firefighters. They call them forestry technicians so they don't have to pay them the same as real firefighters. Also, wildfires are a 12 Billion dollar industry in California. When these fires occur, it's basically sucking 12 billion from your pockets and the pockets of insurance companies and placing it into new cars, new houses, more firefighting planes and gear and yadda yadda. All because liberals refuse to let them burn brush like before to starve the fuel. They blame it on climate change while simultaneously laughing all the way to the bank. More Red Vanessa LOL:
In her 1991 autobiography, Vanessa Redgrave described her outrage when Sidney Lumet suggested to the cast that they cut the lunch break to half an hour. She contacted Equity, the actors' union, who sent their film organizer who explained at a meeting that it was up to them if they accepted the half-hour break or not. "I said it was not only ourselves we were deciding for. I spoke of the economic crisis, the continuous attack on the unions, and the fact that Elstree Studios would soon be closed. I said that if we, who no doubt had the power to refuse, said that we could manage without a full lunch-break, others would soon be forced to accept it, and we could have opened a door for all employers to increase the workload and thereby cut pay throughout the industry". The cast considered the arguments but finally voted to accept the half-hour. Details of the incident were leaked to the Press with a view to discrediting the actress, and the source was eventually traced to the Equity office, rather than anybody on set. Great kiddie and pet vids.
At that age I remember catching a praying mantis and getting a finger pinched in his little death grip pincers. After that we had a Cousin Ida in Philly give up a turtle to us. She had IDA imprinted on the shell in pink nail polish. My parents saw me feeding the turtle lettuce and told me Do NOT put you finger in the turtles mouth. Meh 5 mins later I put my finger in the turtles beak.... wow lesson learned.. heh So before I turned 5 yo after me MUM came home from a women's meeting on a rainy night with a kitten that we named Candy. The cat grown was a natural mouser and would come home with unconscious field mice that it would present to me. I got one from Candy and put it into a gas milk bottle. The little white belly mouse warmed up and came back to life. I let it out of the bottle onto the hardwood floor of a bedroom I shared with brothers. Oh boy the race was on and somehow at 5 yo I caught the little mouse and put it back into the bottle. Mum never knew. She was from Hull, England a channel town.. told stories of Spitfires and Messerschmidt's dog fighting over the pastures where she lived. I'm missing Mum at Christmas.... Colorado's ruling has no gas in the tank due to the 14th amendment being very specific about "DUE PROCESS" of which there "WERNT NONE" . "Zelensky did the same thing - banned all opposition parties." No, he did not. The National Security and Defense Council suspended three specific parties that were supporting Russian victory. (I've read that 8 parties were banned, but 5 were so small they had no representatives in parliament to start with. Banning them would be like banning The Rent Is Too Damned High Party in the U.S. And Churchill did worse in war time, locking up the leader of the British Union of Fascists.) There are still eight different parties in Ukraine's parliament: 3 pro-Zelensky, 3 opposition, 2 non-aligned, plus 24 independents. The one opposition party of any size that was banned for Russian connections, Opposition Platform - For Life, had 37 members in parliament. The banned parties have been replaced by two new parties with mostly the same members, 22 in Platform for Life and Peace, 18 in Restoration of Ukraine. Those are the two parties that are listed as non-aligned. Posted by: Dr. Weevil at December 19, 2023 11:01 PM (uL3GK) 440

‘To catch a thief’ holds up pretty well, but it’s really more romcom than cat burglar movie.
