The Intransigence Of The "Palestinian" Arabs Is the Only Thing That Has Prevented Their Own State, And Now It Is Too Late
The concept that the Arabs living in the West Bank and Gaza deserve autonomy in their own governance, much less a state of their own, was shown on October 7th to be ridiculous. And even after two months of of pummeling by the Israeli military, support for Hamas and their subhuman brand of terrorism is strong. Hamas brought destruction and death upon the people of Gaza, yet they support it! The leadership of Hamas is safely ensconced in Qatar for now, able to spend their billions of dollars (looted from the people of Gaza and the world that wrote the checks) on luxury...and security, because of course the Israeli intelligence services are going to have a say in how long they draw breath.
Giving these people a state is madness. It is the equivalent of allowing Nazi Germany to reconstitute itself in May of 1945, or returning Hideki Tojo to power in September 1945. The West Bank, ruled by the Palestinian Authority, and Gaza, ruled by Hamas, are birds of a feather. There is no substantive difference, other then the propensity for PA officials to wear ties. Both represent a populace that approves...overwhelmingly...of the destruction of the state of Israel and the Jewish people. They are single-minded in their goals, and they inculcate their children with that message. They are a death cult with one thing in mind...killing Jews. Here is Melanie Phillips eviscerating the widely held belief that a "two state solution" is rational. The persistent "two-state" delusionThis week, polling results published by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research revealed that no fewer than 82 per cent of Judea and Samaria residents and 72 per cent of Gazans approve of the October 7 pogrom. If there were an election in the disputed territories, Hamas would win hands down. Support for Hamas in these territories has more than tripled compared to three months ago. In Gaza, such support has also increased. The overwhelming majority in both areas want to see Israel destroyed. If the Palestinian Arabs are to govern themselves, they must go through the equivalent of the de-Nazification that was carried out in Germany after World War II. That clearly cannot be done by the rejectionist, Jew-hating and despotic PA.
But...in reality it is "de-Islamification," and that is impossible. The attitudes in Gaza and the West Bank did not emerge as a consequence of the re-creation of the state of Israel. An examination of the many pogroms against Jews perpetrated in many Arab states before 1948 suggest that Jew-Hate existed before the "Nakba," as the Arabs call Israeli Independence. And the expansionist goals of Islam, culminating in a global Caliphate are not some myth. Israel and Jews are merely their first target. So how to cure Gaza and the West Bank of their blood lust? We can't. All we can do is demilitarize the area so there cannot be a repeat of October 7th, and remove the malign influence of UN-sponsored educational systems that actively promote the agenda that led to the savagery of October 7th and before. Israel is already destroying Hamas and its ability to project terrorism, but the UN and the oh-so-sophisticated 1st world is busily trying to return to the status quo ante bellum; that's what cease fires will lead to. The "Two State Solution" is dead. The trick is convincing the world that it is better off with a vibrant Israel, complete with world-class technology, liberal democracy, freedom, and most of all respect for human life and humanity. Because the other side of the coin is a savage 3rd world sh*thole where the law of the jungle prevails, where terrorism in service of a world caliphate is exported, and where tens of billions of dollars from the developed world is stolen to support its despotic rulers. I know what I would choose.

Zionism brought money and modern know how to Israel. Which then created a labor market for Muslims - and led them to again try to "colonize" it.
Well, the left tells me endlessly colonialism is wrong so...how about we send every Arab home that can't show their great grandfather liked in the lands that are now Israel?

It's amazing how, if you don't watch teevee, or read any of the corporate media sources, this story is sliding off the "front page," so to speak.
It only seems to hit my radar when someone is calling for a cease fire. Much like Ukraine is only on the radar, because the grifter is in the capitol, with his hand out.
I think I'm somewhat representative of a certain segment of the nation, and these "stories" fading into the background is a good thing.
Let the people on the ground finish what they're doing. Let the rest of us keep our opinions to ourselves, because it doesn't really matter. And even by the time the shithole students on various campi come back from Christmas break, they'll be distracted by something else.

Not unlike our own border, and the argument that Republicans favor open borders for cheap labor, that strikes me as either only part of the answer, or it's not really the answer at all. There's something more going on, and I don't profess to know what it is over there.
What we do know though, is Israel has continued to be very much involved in Gaza, enough so they are the focus of the hatred that comes their way, almost as a convenient boogeyman for the Palis to point to, rather than taking ownership for their own failings.

I'm sitting this one out as best as possible, in a practical sense. Just returned from the more-or-less 'region' and whatever happens, it's pushing shock waves already that people I've known for years tell me are 'unprecedented'.
This is not like all the other times, it's different, is what I'm being told.

Which of course is no "negotiation" at all, and an absolutely ridiculous demand for a side that is losing a war. Which of course is no "negotiation" at all, and an absolutely ridiculous demand for a side that is losing a war. I think, that given how sketchy the "two-state solution" is to the Arab - Israel situation we here in the states should take heed. It's not likely some sort of variation on that is going to work here either. A so-called "national divorce" or whatever isn't going to work as long as the left is allowed to operate as they have been.

Apparently, Israel has a problem with its own versions of Gen. Milley. There was either a massive intelligence failure prior to Oct. 7 or something like laziness or normalcy bias that came over the intelligence community that allowed this to happen. And then you have the 7 hour delay in reaction, which some (like Michael Yon, whom I have respected) have interpreted as intentional.

I got caught up in a surprising conversation today where the other two people were anti-Elise Stefanik, pro-presidents-of-Penn/Harvard/MIT, and pro-ceasefire. It was only when one of them referred to the two states in a two-state solution as "the Jews and the Palestinians" that I was able to get purchase by saying, "No. Name the two governments," and they turned the topic to "Why do they keep supporting Hamas?" But I’m ignorant of Holy Land geography; however I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Bethlehem is now a place where neither a Jew or a Christian could feel safe…. And that’s sad. At risk of repeating what might be said above, if your job in the state dept,, UN, NGO or whatever is to solve the Palestinian question, and you succeed, in narrow-minded bureaucratic thinking, you put yourself out of a job. Bought first house at 23 years of age. While in the process of demolishing the kitchen some religious group knocked on the side door and asked me if my 'parents are home'. I honestly replied, "No" and politely closed the door on them. My wife loves to tell that story. Two years later I sold that home for a profit (adjusted for today's useless dollars of close to two hundred grand).
Way way sounds like one of these useless kids with a keyboard punching away with his/her thumbs.

As others have written, we can't abandon the middle east without abandoning our entire trading network, with the eventual result that China and Iran will dominate the world, and our economy will contract by 50% or more. It would take a decade or two to revitalize our energy business completely, which is certainly why the left has been pushing to destroy it.

Agree that the problem will not go away and 2-state will not work with these people. Instead, I recommend that the world (US esp) must LEAN on the two neighboring arab nations to claim Gaza and parts of the West Bank - meaning Egypt and Jordan. They don't want to and will avoid it in any way they can. Extreme pressure must be brought to bear on them to take these regions and the people living there.
