It is somewhat shocking to see, even for a rabid gun owner like me, a firearm casually out in the open area of the home like that, but it used to be the norm. My father-in-law from rural Iowa talks about how he and the other kids would bring their rifles and shotguns to school, store them in their lockers, and then go squirrel and rabbit hunting after class.

Wonder what happened to make the situation so different today...

87 I think Swedish playwright August Strindberg had a falling out with Carl Larsson, because the latter made too many pictures of the Larsson family as happy and wholesome.

Of course, Strindberg saw marriage as The Dance of Death (the title of one of his most famous plays) so what do you expect?

I never cared. Many admired that trait. Others, at work, especially the News Department (television station of a large network), steered clear of me. My favorite comeback to these people at meetings was, "don't bullshit a bullshitter, save it for the customer". Being one of a small crew of engineers, they learned not to piss us off. Weird things happen when they do. Heh.
