The Morning Report — 11/30/23

carronbuffoon.jpg

Good morning, kids. The breaking story this morning is the death of former secretary of state Henry Kissinger at 100 years old. It's more than a bit tragically ironic that arguably one of the shrewdest diplomatic minds who helped guide and foster American foreign policy dominance and leadership through several major world crises, several in the Middle East, passes into history while the nation he championed is utterly bereft of leadership, competence and ethics that has led us to the most dangerous level of global instability in 75 years.

He was right about some things, wrong about others, but you at least had the sense that when Kissinger faced off with world leaders and opponents, American interests were well represented and defended. Compare and contrast to individuals like Madeline Albright, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton and Tony Blinken.

Kissinger was a creature of the Cold War and its attendant geopolitics. The East vs West paradigm is long gone, but it has been replaced by a global conflict pitting billionaire oligarchs out of Davos against Beijing against a growing global Islamist movement, with corrupt politicians engaged in kabuki theatrics, pretending business as usual is still the order of the day.

The common denominator here is the chaos and descent into madness we have been witnessing is a result of the absence of America as the guarantor of the global order which has emboldened all of the aforementioned. That doesn't mean war for the hell of it like in Iraq or Afghanistan. But when we were energy independent at home, as well as promoting sane trade and tariff policies that could have brought industry back to the USA and secured our economy for the long term, China and Iran would not have been the problems they are now. And with the Abraham Accords, 10/7 might never have happened.

Oh well. Fin de siècle.

In this week's little-noted news of great importance, the fraternal socialist brotherhood government of Venezuela will hold a referendum on Sunday officially annexing the border region of tiny neighboring Guyana — a border region encompassing two-thirds of tiny neighboring Guyana. Whoever told you socialists aren't greedy was lying. And a socialist. But I repeat myself.

Anyway, Nicolás Maduro's United Socialist Party government authorized the referendum back in October and has been using "leaflets, reggaeton, videos, and other content" to stir up nationalist fury over lands Venezuela has long claimed but never bothered to fight for.

Perhaps until now. . .

. . . Who had "Venezuela and Brazil Fighting It Out Over Guyana" on their 2024 Global Doom Edition™ Bingo card?

International organizations have recognized Guyana's existing border since 1899. Caracas has been content until now to leave well enough alone. So why is Maduro suddenly getting frisky? Oil. Lots and lots of oil.

Discoveries over the last decade put Guyana's reserves at 11 billion barrels, on par with other mid-tier producers like Norway, Brazil, and Algeria — not bad for a country of fewer than 800,000 people. Imagine a poor family of four suddenly inheriting a large bank, and you'll get an idea of the windfall coming Guyana's way.

"But wait a minute," I can hear you ask, "doesn't Venezuela have more oil than that? Like, a lot more?"

Indeed. Venezuela's proven reserves are 308 billion barrels — the largest in the world and 28 times the size of Guyana's comparatively puny stash. Venezuela invading Guyana for the oil would be like Canada organizing an invasion of Vermont to steal their snow.

But socialists have run Venezuela for the last 20 years or so, and you know what that means: it doesn't matter how much oil is under the ground because they've run the domestic oil industry into the ground. Oil production in the world's most oil-rich country has been in decline since 2012, following years of official neglect.

After socialists are done eating their own country's seed corn, it's almost inevitable that they begin to covet their neighbor's seed corn. Pity poor Guyana's sudden windfall.

There might, however, be one more reason why Maduro has chosen now to move his country to a war footing. The Biden Administration began lifting sanctions on Venezuela last year, just like it lifted sanctions on Hamas's sponsor, Iran, two years before Hamas launched its terror invasion of southern Israel last month.

I see a pattern developing here, and I bet you do, too.

And Venezuela's big ally is . . . Iran. Good thing we have our priorities straight in DC.

The Biden administration’s Department of Homeland Security has had federal air marshals following people for years who flew to Washington, D.C., on January 6, 2021, even if they did not go to the Capitol and were never charged with a crime, according to an association representing air marshals.

Air marshals were allegedly pulled off of sensitive missions to follow potential conservatives, suggesting that not only was a law enforcement agency politicized, but that people with no involvement in politics might have been placed at risk as a result. The finding comes amidst the revelation that the FBI let an apparent child rapist go free to pursue January 6 cases.

Five days after the January 6, 2021, protest at the Capitol, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) and then-Rep. John Katko (R-NY) wrote to the head of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), David Pekoske, to demand that the agency “disrupt the travel of terrorists who just attacked the seat of the U.S. government,” citing “online chatter” as evidence that they might be al-Qaeda-style bombers.

Soon, TSA appeared to be doing just that — a situation discovered only because of an almost comical situation in which one air marshal was forced to monitor another air marshal because his wife was in D.C. during that time period.

In January 2023, David Londo and Sonya LaBosco, the president and executive director of the Air Marshal National Council, an association that represents air marshals, wrote to House leaders saying that innocent Americans were being put on watchlists. . .

. . . One January 6 defendant, Kirstyn Niemela — a 5’6” lesbian who was charged with only misdemeanors – said at sentencing that “I have also been red flagged at the airport, and I have to go through extra security while other passengers stare at me as if I’m a terrorist. I have had other passengers come up to me — which I have videos of all of this – and tell me that undercover police or air marshals were watching and following me, and they even peeked inside the ladies’ room while I was in there. This is extremely humiliating, totally unnecessary.”

. . . The Air Marshal National Council said that TSA had repurposed a domestic surveillance program called “Quiet Skies” to follow people who may have been even weakly linked to January 6. The program, which FAMS initially kept secret not only from the public but even from other government agencies, allows air marshals to flag and follow people who are “unknown or partially known terrorists” who are “not under investigation by any agency and are not in the Terrorist Screening Data base.” The DHS Inspector General found in 2020 that it has never found a single threat to aviation security.

18 Elon Musk missed a huge opportunity being interviewed by that miserable NY Times twit. The twit kept talking about a "public perception," meaning really what the media (i.e, the NY Times) wished to manufacture and establish as the "public perception." Musk should have called him on it. Then turned the tables and called for an advertiser boycott of THEM. After all, wouldn't advertisers feel "uncomfortable" (the twits' favorite word) enabling the NY Times obvious pro-Palestinian anti-Semitism?

19 Of course the Pope is a dictator, but so what? Who cares?

The real issue is that he's also a marxist revolutionary, focused on wordly politics instead of the immortal souls of his flock. That conflict puts him at odds with Catholic doctrine, I would guess, on divorce and homosexuality for example, and also leads him to accommodation with commies in China.

30 I think part of the problem with commies in general (and this probably extends to all technocrats/authoritarians) is that, due to a lack of vision, they cannot understand that fabulous wealth is kind of a by product of a free system.

They do not realize when you do something for profit- say I am a steel manufacturer. I am making a profit by extracting iron ore to smelt into steel. I need to pay geologists to find the best veins. I patronize various companies to get the best machinery for both extraction and refinement. I employ scientists to refine the process beyond the raw machinery. Those developed process then go back down to the manufacturers of the equipment so I get better machines- but the manufacturers also get knowledge on how to do things better that they can then extend to other clients. A shit load of ancillary industries are created by a single profitable one- all driven by people finding a way to use their particular skills in order to make money.

A commie just says 'I want oil.' Oil is profitable. And because they are psycho retards, they want to control all aspects of that extraction and refinement when they are ill suited to doing it.

They want those oil leases for their companies, and to rein in Venezuelan belligerence, secondarily.

Who knows if they'll do much, but they have deployed units to the border as a warning.

If they decide to use force to prevent the annex, that's that, and Venezuela will either back down, or be instantly defeated. Their military is incapable of anything besides trafficking drugs and oppressing Venezuelans.

Chavez more or less merged the military regime and the cartels. Most of the "legitimate" interests in Venezuela are still owned or operated by the junta, though. The point is that NO ONE is a subject matter expert on everything. You can try and maybe do a passable job, but that is not the ease with which a true master does it.

Example: The TV story I have told here before. Had a samsung tv. The power supply went out. Checked online. Capacitors are shitty. $400 repair from Samsung. Asked Dad (electrical engineer.) He said the capacitors were easy to get and it should be a simple fix. Watched some videos. Asked Dad again. He said he had all the tools I'd need, but he could do it, if I wanted. I said 'Sure.' He spent 5 mins. Took out the old capacitors with a soldering iron. Put in new ones. Soldered them down. Every move smooth and practiced. He enjoyed it. Cost of repair: $3 from amazon and lunch for Dad.

My approach on this is that if the salad bar tickles your fancy, go for it. If that means one fewer little lamb chop or piece of prime rib, then fine. The whole experience kicks ass and everything is good and high quality in my experience. I started enjoying myself and the experience more when I quit trying to value-maximize the overall exercise. I disagree. This isn't about ideology or even really about empire. This is about a hegemon looking to maintain its sphere of influence and foreign buffer states and another hegemon looking to take them away. It's a story as old as time, and why border zones around hegemonic powers are in conflict so often throughout history. The constant state of war or near-war in Jammu and Kashmir is another example of the same phenomenon, as is the general long-term mess in Central Asia, where several historical empires and contemporary hegemons have a history of petering out.

141 The Wisconsin Election Commission that gave the illegal orders should be fired and prevented from ever working in government again. Why aren't there any consequences?
Posted by: Chuck Martel'

Because much of WI has a very real small-town mentality: "Well, we have to get along, you know..."
"Sure, they might be wrong, but we can't just go fighting about everything..."

There is a lot of that. A lot. Getting really into it and fighting is seen as disruptive and, I have heard this I-don't-know-how-many-times here, the worst sin anyone can possibly commit: 'Causing trouble'.

It leads to a very dangerous assumption that actions by very dangerous people are 'just not that serious'. I see it here all the time.

151 There's an old quote, popular among conspiracy theorists back in the day (they don't look so crazy anymore, eh?), purportedly said by Kissinger speaking at a Bilderberg meeting in Evian, France on May 21, 1992 (claim is that, unbeknownst to him, his speech was taped by a Swiss delegate at the meeting):

"Today Americans would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order; tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially true if they were told there was an outside threat from beyond whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of the world will pledge with world leaders to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well being granted to them by their world government."

This is *exactly* how red states become blue. The Dems migrate to the cities, take over the local government there, and then install the machinery necessary to disenfranchise the citizens outside the cities, thus converting a red state in to a blue state. 197 "This is about a hegemon looking to maintain its sphere of influence and foreign buffer states and another hegemon looking to take them away."
It is striking how pretty much all the states fighting the hegemon are formerly or currently socialist, communist, and former Soviet Union allies: China, Russia, North Korea, Cuba, Syria, Venezuela, PLO. Their allies in the West are also mostly the same kind of people who liked the Soviet Union or Mao during the Cold War.
Yes, some of them have made cosmetic changes, like Saddam Hussein who incorporated islamism in addition to socialism and nationalism into his ideology. As a Romanian, I am aware of this phenomenon from earlier on, as Ceausescu also incorporated nationalism into his ideology.
Iran used to be different (during the Cold War too), but now that it has allied itself with Putin's Russia it fits into this framework as well.

They don't care about the parades. Throw 'em off of buildings or don't - the globalists don't really care. What made the American left (and by extension most of the West's left) turn against Russia was Putin shutting down the underage skin trade. Russia and many of its satellites were suddenly taken off the market as a source of Slavic child sex slaves. Ukraine rapidly filled in the gap, but there is probably no other country that can easily and quickly take it over if Ukraine falls.

The spice must flow.

While it was pretty good, it reminded me with the bone in ribeye I ordered, served medium rare, that I'm just not a fan of the whole 'searing' thing.

I don't really like the outside of my steak charcoal while the center is a cool pink. It's just incredibly off-putting to me.

"The Mushroom Mines are a teenage rite of passage in Eastern Kentucky. These enormous, magnificent mines sit out in the open, welcoming scared teenagers into its dark depths while offering a safe place to drink beer and smoke weed. Like any other good industrial relic, there are stories of Satanic sacrifices, Big Foot roaming the nearby woods, and a 'tall, albino looking man' chasing people out of the mines. Oh, and did we mention there's an underground lake? Of all the places The Clio Society has been to, the Mushroom Mines are easily amongst the top three of most spectacular places to go."

Predictions of major events are usually flukes. There's no consistency down the road and usually when you examine the past there are a bunch of incorrect ones that are now forgotten in the moment when one is finally realized.

Perhaps his strategy of keeping China and Russia separate is too obvious to be creditable, but if it's so obvious why is the only other person to pursue that strategy Trump?

Guyana is a wider region and most of the European empires carved off pieces, some of which are now independent or part of other countries, with one remaining imperial territory.

The contemporary country called "Guyana" is the former British Guyana. French Guyana is still ... French Guyana. Still in the empire, administered by France and technically (as a result of the imperial relationship) the outermost region of the European Union. There was also a Dutch Guyana, which is now Suriname. The Spanish Guyana is part of Venezuela, and the Portuguese Guyana is part of Brazil.

The British lady put in charge of the program by Obama is apparently recorded saying something like "We used this same program successfully to overthrow other nations, and now we're using it in the U.S."

And it's the U.S. and British military running it. On our soil, against Americans.

291 Guiana. French Guiana.
Posted by: JackStraw at November 30, 2023 08:47 AM (ZLI7S)
++++
Yeah, technically. That's the French spelling and the one preferred when discussing the various other historical non-British Guyanas, but in part that is academic sophistry. Suriname - which used to be Dutch Guyana - is referred to in the literature as former Dutch Guiana, which makes less sense since Dutch like English is a Germanic language rather than a Romance language. But even that is irrelevant because it's a loanword in *all* European languages anyway, and so spelling conventions are less fixed in the first place. Hell, Mumbai and Bombay are still interchangeable and only one foreign language was ever involved in that one.

But whatever. The only two that technically matter anymore are Guyana the country and French Guiana the imperial territory and yeah, annoyingly, the spellings are different.

292 COLUMBUS, Ohio (LifeSiteNews) — A young woman came forward during a congressional hearing in Ohio on Tuesday to speak for the first time about her experience being victimized by transgender ideology. She said practitioners “affirmed” her gender confusion without addressing her underlying mental health issues, resulting in devastating, permanent effects.

“I had become captivated by the idea that my female body was fundamentally wrong, and seduced by the prospect that there was something I could do about it,” 26-year-old Morgan Keller said in testimony supporting Ohio’s HB 68, the Saving Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act.
______

If this bill passes, judges will likely overturn it since Ohio voters passed Issue 1 which, in addition to abortion rights has language 'protecting' gender confused 'care' as a right in the constitution.

I'm not sure I believe it, but I think it is possible. Ukraine is the nexus of a whole lot of dirty dealing. Money, arms, slaves (all types), etc. There is so much dirty laundry in Ukraine that it would probably be very damaging in terms of both money and power/reputation for it to fall.

355 I've made medium-well barely pink steaks for mom, sister, GF, ex GFs, doesn't matter. They take a bite, say "yeah it's slippery and gross and now I'm probably going to get worms you dick", and i gotta crutch the bitch and put it back on the heat so that everything good that was still in it gets squeezed out of the incision now that it's wide open, instead of just serving them what they wanted in the first place.

It's an idiotic claim from the Iranians. The IDF has complete control of surface areas in the North (but not the tunnels), and any remaining missile assets in that area are now neutralized. That would be over 50% right there. And firing missiles from the south now just provides targeting data for the next phase of the war, about to start. Huge numbers of them have been blown up in underground depots where we have seen the secondary explosions, and no one can count how many.

But it hoovers up more info than Meta lets on.

No, they are actually trying to stop the Israelis. That's a political move Grampy Dumbass thinks will play well. How do I know? Their public statements conflict greatly with their private ones. That's why Bibi came out again yesterday and stated "what don't you understand about we are going to wipe out Hamas when this ceasefire charade is over?" The entire government of Israel agree that finishing Hamas is existential. And you know what- they're correct. The actual ground conflict won't be that long. They control the north and will just tighten the noose. Battlespace prep is already going on in the south where they'll be going after the cowards who fled before the wadi was closed off.

I'm pretty sure they want the WW II / Cold War generations back.

Where you didn't question Uncle Sam too much because "The Russians" !!! And everybody just tightened their belts and did their part for the group to beat Hitler / The Emperor / Communism.

Except now the baddies are Global Warming and White Privilege. See what they did now ? They took all those symbols, institutions, and ideas you love and turned them.

If they have their way, we'll all be living in one of those old beloved war movies. Except the "home front" will be straining against an enemy you can't see. Victory Gardens, Meatless Tuesdays, parades, songs, and uniforms will all be back in style though. Maybe even a Labor Draft.

516 Inflation, as they measure it may be coming down. But that "victory" ignores the fact that Biden has killed us with the price increases of his first three years that remain in place.

LIVs generally think inflation being "solved" means prices will go back to the Trump years.

People that understand economics know it means prices will stop going up.

And...I guarantee you that prices will in fact not only not go down, but continue to go up 10-20% per year while the FNM tells us Biden solved inflation.

517 ...in addition to the tip being added to the bill, they added an additional ~20% fee/involuntary tip for the backend workers (kitchen crew, etc.).

Annoying but consider that they have to pay those people some acceptable amount to get them to work there at all. They can either pay them $x+y and hide the $y in the menu price or they can pay them $x and itemize the $y on the bill. In the long run, it's all the same.

They are trying to save face, Tom. And Biden and his liege are trying to help them. That's why I always hate these pauses in fighting. The propaganda wars then heat up and people make bad decisions. Luckily the Israelis are not buying it. They are holding their current positions and taking notes. Once hostilities restart, and I don't believe that's far away due to the games Hamas are playing, it's going to get sporty real quick.

530 Back in the day, there was a taqueria out the gate at Pendleton called Robertos. Before it went corporate it was just a hole in the wall run by people who didn't have a green card and only spoke spanish. An order of rolled tacos with gauacamole and a carne asada burrito was about 7 dollars and made two meals if you wanted it to. Or you could stuff yourself on it and wash it down with a beer or three, then fall asleep at the beach. They were open 24/7.

Thanks PA legislature, thanks Doug Ducey, thanks Brian Kemp, Mitch McConnell, Mike Pence and Bill Bar. And of course, let's not forget to thank SCJJohn Roberts and the whole of the Republican Party "leadership" for their crucial parts in the end. Great job, you cowards and traitors. One election in 2024 will NEVER make up for, nor undo the massive damage you've done to our once great nation. And more than likely that election will be rigged too, with all your blessings of course, because we can't have the rabble of America holding you accountable for your crimes, now can we?

534 I'd like to see the Jack Smith treatment of Trump inflicted on all the creatures of the left in Congress, in the DOJ, everywhere. What dirty little (and huge) secrets are in THEIR closets? What connections to dark money and bribes?
The Reps should go through with their threat to send out their 150+ subpoenas regardless of what the Dems do. There needs to be an understanding that if one side can do such terrible things when in power, the other side can. They opened up Pandora's box, now they have to live with the result.
