Years ago, I became seriously ill and spent 2 weeks in the hospital. I came back home and my Sis stayed with me for a while to help me get back on my feet. She would bring her Jack Russell, Pete, over from time to time. He would lay his head on my arm for what seemed like hours and just look at me all concerned and everything. As some of you know, that's quite a sacrifice for a JR. Pete was the coolest dog evah.

Hezbollah is in Lebanon. Not sure exactly who they hit, but if its the forces that fired at Israel and the US bases recently those were picked because they are expendible.

here's my conspiracy take. Nobody has much use for Hamas and Gaza, especially other Arab states. Mideast states are talking with Israel more, there was a negotiation with Israel and the Saudis and Hamas that broke down because Hamas was assho. There is gas and oil in the area that could be sold to all comers. Iran joining BRICS means they can trade all over, and get benefits by land routes through their land between China Russia and India too.

You could plot out a road / trail route that intersects/views the sections from the book. There are books sold for Civil War battlefields that take you to the parks, have maps and quotes from battle reports on both sides which are excellent.

Might be earlier, mud ends when the cold begins. They began to regain some of the land lost near Kharkov in the last winter shortly after having lost it. The Spring mud seasons give a break before any warm weather offensive.

I'm more convinced now that the U war isn't going to have any big arrow offensives due to the ability to smash any concentrated force. Grab a hub town, start working into the hills around it, shell the men inside and it will fall with little cost but the ammo. That's been the game so far.

If the war in Gaza had been a long grinding duel like Ukraine, the cease fire advocates could have gained some traction; the war in Ukraine is screaming for some kind of ceasefire for humanitarian reasons.
But the clowns calling for ceasefire in Gaza haven't figured out that most of the serious fighting is already over. As Richard Fernandez has been writing, the battle in Gaza is over. The pursuit, the rout has begun.

In 1973 after the Canal crossing the West forced Israel into a cease fire before an entire Egyptian army (one of maybe three) had to surrender, as it had been encircled. That was after 30 days, including a few embarrassing defeats for Israel.

It did wake up Sadat who pivoted into a detente and eventually even peace with Egypt.

Just shows how short the leash has been historically.

Believe it or not, Israel has been talking about exactly this. They are also clear that there will be no more independent government allowed in the strip. (which is probably why they made a point of demolishing the Pali's parliament buidling this week) There's also video of Isreal sending bulldozers around and knocking down things like the Yassar Arafat monument.

A close reading shows that these messages give the green light to Israel. "Try and reduce casualties" and the like. Even working out terms allows Israel to scupper anything by requiring freeing hostages and delivering the murderers on the initial operation over for trial, even at the UN. Hamas wouldn't do that.

Israel is more self sufficient than back then, and a real call to get in line might not work. But so far, the moving in of two carriers to watch your back says more than Blinken mumbling in public for internal consumption.

I just listened to a podcast called All-In, with the four internet billionaires that said they needed to take a second look at the Trump presidency - NeverTrumpism, one of them opined, was worse than Trump. A little late to the party, but at least Chamath didn't need a fourth kick from the mule to get the clue.

Anyway, the guest they had on was...Jared Kushner. Not a conservative, not a liberal (anymore), but he had a solid take on ME policy, from the perspective of a guy that was a few months short of solving the problem over there.
