Biden OKs Another Ten Billion for Iran

The Biden administration on Tuesday reapproved a sanctions waiver that will allow Iran to access upward of $10 billion in frozen assets, the State Department confirmed to the Washington Free Beacon.
The sanctions waiver, which was set to expire today after first being authorized for a period of 120 days in July, allows Iraq to transfer payments for multibillion-dollar electricity imports from Iran into accounts outside of the country that can be used by Tehran. This is the first time the Biden administration has renewed the waiver since the Iran-backed terror group Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on Israel that was reported to have been planned with Tehran's support.
Renewal of the waiver "allows Iraq to use its own funds to render payment for Iranian electricity imports into restricted Iranian accounts in Iraq," a State Department official told the Free Beacon, speaking only on background. "These restricted funds can only be used for humanitarian and other non-sanctionable transactions."
While Iran can only use the funds related to the sanctions waiver for the purchase of humanitarian goods, critics of the administration's policy argue that by freeing up this cash, Iran can allocate other financial resources to its global terrorism operation, which has been in overdrive since Hamas's October 7 attack on Israel. Analysts place the amount of cash accessible by Iran at upward of $10 billion, as the Free Beacon first reported on Monday.

Critics... see the sanctions waiver as proof that the administration is maintaining Tehran's financial channels, even after it provided Hamas with the resources necessary to slaughter more than 1,200 Israelis and take hostage many others, including Americans.

The Biden flack decided that blame is fungible, and claimed it's really Trump's fault.

Well I wouldn't go farther back than 2014 for proximate causes. The color revolution in Ukraine put Russia on alert that war was coming. They started preparing. The slush from Ukraine started totally corrupting Western governments down to the core. War breaking out was the next stage. The US blowing up the Russian/German Nordstream was next. The realignment of China, Russia, and India and now South America into an at best indifferent trade block was next. Then coups in Africa put new governments skeptical of the west blocking resources there. Now the Gaza/Israel war puts another conflict front and center and isolates the west even farther.

Some of these may be coincidental, or opportunism. But these things happen in wars. Look at Prussia popping in and out of the War of the Austrian succession to snatch land.

If her parents were Americans then she's just an American. She could apply for Iranian residency or passport but that would be up to Iran and not some sort of automatic right. Most countries do not have birthright but assume that a child takes its father's nationality.
We need to get rid of that birthright clause in the law, RETROACTIVELY when we can show that the mother was not here legally at birth time.

The Palis have long been treated far differently than any other conquered area after they and Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt got defeated in the war they started in 1948 and again in 1967. Usually the winner has total ability to handle the remnant population and to a great extent Israel has done so, a good minority there are Arabs. The exception was the West Bank and Gaza where the west was involved and backed rule by terrorists since Arafat. Gaza would not be a problem if aid money pumped in allowed a sterile patch of beach be able to grow a population of millions radicalized by terrorists.

Yes, I've been trying to make that case for years. The biggest problem is that there was no such thing as "Federal Citizenship" before the Civil War; you were a citizen of the US if you were a citizen of a State - which led to a great deal of trouble, since in most states (before 186

women, children, and slaves were considered legal residents, but NOT "citizens". (which was why they could not vote) It was a messed up system, and the 14th amendment completely rewrote all ideas of Citizenship - but the 14th completely ignored the phrase "natural born" and it was just considered a dead letter.

and yeah, like it or not Birthright Citizenship comes right out of the 14th, so if you want to change it, we have to amend the constitution.

Sufferage was inevitable after the 14th was adopted. Before then, women could not vote because they were not citizens of their state, just residents. After the 14th made all people living in the US citizens, there was no good argument for restricting the right to vote anymore.
