You know, you could canvass the thrift stores, second-hand shops, and check Fecesbook Marketplace, and Craigslist for a used washer of the same series, buy it for a few bucks, and rob the motor out of it. Or just use it, and keep your old one as a trove of spare parts. You could probably find one for under 200 dollars.

It wasn’t about loyalty. It was about finding a working atmosphere I didn’t hate and taking advantage of the benefits that increased the longer you stayed with the company. And I would have only worked for one company if they hand not decided to close their office where I lived. They offered me a promotion to move but I wasn’t going to Atlanta. 😀

That was my 2nd startup. First one was also a buyout. They kept the vesting schedule and converted the options to option of their stock which was public already. So there was all the incentive in the world to stay there since the IPO already happened. This was right around the peak of the 2000 bubble. By the time I had vested any significant number of options the market had already tanked. I was a millionaire multiple times over on paper for a while. That was cool. I ended up with something like $50k in real money before the company went belly up in the .com crash. Was a hell of a ride.

I'm reminded of the start up I worked for in Tacoma. Boss hired a consultant who was super rich! Yeah right. He was a brilliant dumbass. Turns out he wrote the original code for internet radio and later, internet tv. Sold both and was worth (he claims) just over $120mill. Kept it invested in techs until his accountant demanded he shift some to more stable things or he'd quit. So he shifted 10% of his holdings. That's the only thing that saved him after the tech wreck.

The largest airsep plant in the world, which actually produces products like oxygen and nitrogen in addition to CO2, is 9 million tons of air per year. But it's only one unit of 17 at that location!

I'm looking up the history of Desilu, which is the history of Desi and Lucy, basically. Lucy bought Desi out in 1962, and took it over for herself. She sold it in '68 and it became Paramount, or part of it or whatever.

I am not sure how they can "sequester" the CO2 underground in concrete vaults forever. Go deep enough, and the hydrostatic pressure will keep it liquid, I guess.
Here in Canada, CO2 scrubbed from power plant stack gases is being used as a miscible flood to help recover oil from tight formations. Liquid CO2 is a solvent that dissolves crude oil, and makes it more fluid. So they actually get value back from sequestering it. Enough that it would pay to do it, absent the stupid "carbon credits".

Desi is often credited with creating the 3 camera setup, but it was likely done earlier. He just made it a big thing.
He also insisted on filming the shows, and even figured out a way to keep a live studio audience in, something they said was impossible to do without spending a fortune.
Anyway, Desi, by filming I Love Lucy, insured a constant stream of royalties to Desilu. It was a genius move, at least in hindsight, how it all worked out.

Heh. I think the hydraulics on the loader would give out before it lifted the back wheels off the ground. The tire tubes are already filled with calcium chloride solution to add weight, and there are cast iron wheel weights, as well. I think my home-made forks would buckle before I reached a load that would damage the tractor, and I am fine with that.

Critical temperature of CO2 is about 88F, and critical pressure is about 1100 psi.

Technically, above critical temp, there is no longer a "liquid" state.
A rule of thumb is a substance above critical temp, but below critical pressure is a "gas" (as opposed to vapor, which could be liquified by isothermal compression). Above critical pressure and temp, it's a "supercritical fluid".

It's about what, if any, is the difference between a "gas" and "vapor". There is no real exact definition, but a common convention is that a substance is a vapor if it's below it's critical temperature, and thus can be turned into a liquid by isothermal compression alone.
CO2 below 88F would be a vapor.
To liquefy a gas, you have to cool it as well as compress.
If you imagine a vessel with a substance below critical temp, with both liquid and vapor above it, there is a distinct phase difference, and a meniscus line. Imagine heating it up. At critical temperate, the density of the liquid and vapor become equal. The meniscus disappears. The vapor pressure at this temperature is the critical pressure.

I was trying to remember. Before '82 STP was defined as 0C, and 1 atm. Since then, it's 0C, and 1 bar (which is defined as 100 kPa, and a wee bit less than 1 atm).
There is also an "NTP" defined, normal temp and pressure, which varies, depending on who is using it. Pressure here is usually 1 atm, and temperatures are in the 60 to 70F range.

Speaking of these standards, the other day thanks to an afternoon thread, I got interested in the history of the definitions of the pound(mass), and the US customary units and imperial units and all that.
Basically, you can think of the US customary and Imperial as a "fork" of older English units, which were a mish mash.
Anyway, the pound sterling, the Brit currency was originally a "Tower pound" (which is different and less than both a Troy and Avoirdupois pound) of sterling silver. A penny coin was thus 1/240 of such a pound of silver.

The US gallon is defined as 231 in^3. That was originally from the old units from which it forked, something they called a wine gallon, or a Queen Anne gallon.
It was originally supposed to be that volume of wine that would weigh 8lbs, but the lb there was something different that avoirdupois or troy.
