However at Isle de Sol, a refueling stop, starboard bogey brakes went, so instead of half an hour it was several hours. Hot, no A/C. Plane was jacked up, brakes fixed. Wait, no, that was the 2nd time. The first time was with shrooms at night. Nothing looked like a Renoir. I did slightly get the bending trees effect. What I really remember was that there was a Grateful Dead cover band ("New Potato Caboose") playing and when they started (with "Scarlet Begonias") I closed my eyes and saw an image of Jerry Garcia on a field of wavy scarlet. It was rather neat actually. But I'm just not a psychedelics guy.

I used to go buy like 5 packages of hearts and gizzards at the local butcher for camping. Probably 8 pounds or so. Stir fry them in garlicky oil and all those who didn't pack food would be all around the fire with me whipping up mass food. I'd get done and feed everyone the gizzards and in the bottom of my stir fry pan would be a bunch of hearts.
I bet polar bear heart would be awesome. Posted by: Reforger at November 06, 2023 08:27 PM (VVvwK) 117

Navajo sheep actually have less lanolin than most breeds. You have to wash the wool to get it out and they don't have the water for that. At some point, sime trader got the bright idea to breed in merinos, which is why they now have more lanolon in the wool.

It's just strange, along the lines of amendments I saw many moons ago as a young voter ("the constitutional amendment to eliminate the office of county surveyor in Reagan County"). My thought is: good on Galveston County looking for more efficient government. Kill the office if it saves you money. But...will Briscoe County voters care, and should they? 152 I voted Yes on eliminating the Galveston County Treasurer position. Why?
'Cause when (r) Cheryl Johnson had the job, she increased the efficiency of the office, integrating it so well with other County agencies, that she argued (and is correct), that a County Treasurer (and staff) is redundant in Galveston, and hereafter an unnecessary drain on the County Budget. She literally worked herself out of a job. Posted by: Jim at November 06, 2023 08:46 PM (e6UQI) Jim SND, thanks for this info. I had planned to vote no on all the TX Constitution amendments tomorrow. I'll now vote YES on abolishing the Galveston County Treasury Officer position. Posted by: Gref at November 06, 2023 09:15 PM (5fDan) 190

What about the rest of the propositions? Definitely yes on the property tax reductions , but I can’t find how the water proposals etc are going to be funded. ( the Galveston thing is going to be decided by the local voters according to something I read so I don’t know why everyone is voting on it) Posted by: LASue at November 06, 2023 09:08 PM (Ed8Zd) I voted down some of the property tax reductions as to me they represent the worst tendencies of government to tinker with the tax code. This tinkering just makes it more wretched and complex. Great for lawyers, sucks for the rest of us. Why does the medical industry and childcare facilities need lower property taxes? Here's CRAZY idea - LOWER PROPERTY TAXES ACROSS THE BOARD. Quit picking winners and losers. Kick some lobbies out of bed. Posted by: Catch Thirty-Thr33 at November 06, 2023 09:16 PM (8sMut) 192
190: I believe that The Babylon Bee wrote a book covering all the ' satire' that they wrote that became true. It was a few years ago and there satire is still turning into reality.

Trump: She doesn't know what 40 Wall Street is worth. She doesn't even know where 40 Wall Street it. It's going to do very well in the future. NY AG lawyer: Are you aware of the method? Trump: I can look at buildings and tell you what they're worth. Trump: You have to spend money to make money. It's not material. Now they says, let's take all his properties away like they do in Communist China. In this country today, a certain judge could do it. later NY AG lawyer: We've seen multiple loan agreements, and your signature. You paid all these off? Trump: Yes. With cash... I think this case is a disgrace. People are leaving New York due to this kind of thing. The only complainant is you Trump: You have an Attorney General sitting here all day, while people are being killed in the street. I don't have a jury, I want a jury. Sounds nice! My house is nice, was looking forward to spending the rest of my life living there. Plans changed.

I know that I’m an outlier here. I loved Hawkeye. Kingpin is great. Echo is awesome. I love Rez Dogs. Charlie Cox might be getting the show that DD deserves, after the firing and new script. 2023 is the first year since 1990, that we haven’t attended a Disney park. No live NFL.

I’m OK, still looking for a job. After a hot prospect, things have kinda stalled. I’m thinking of getting a retail job over the holidays just to bring money in.

Posted by: screaming in digital at November 06, 2023 09:31 PM (aBJcM) My family has property in Missouri that has a shooting range on it. I really miss just being able to go down there on weekends. We plan and then execute, and things don't always have to go the way we intend, in order for them to be the way they should be. Posted by: BurtTC at November 06, 2023 09:35 PM (QBaJw) 200

Yup... lawfare, just like the stupid 14th amendment cases. There is a Federal Statute that defines Insurrection, as Armed and Violent... seems that those who are calling Jan 6 an insurrection when no one has been prosecuted under this legal definition... ie the law... slander those there.... Including Trump. How can the 14th come into effect if they won't even CHARGE Trump with Insurrection under the Federal law? Posted by: Romeo13 at November 06, 2023 09:42 PM (xaFKb) 206

Posted by: Braenyard at November 06, 2023 09:37 PM (Okeht) Don't make me break out the quote about defeatist cynicism. Besides, the people who are helping turn TX blue include the Drinker of the House. And we have a gov who does not want to lead but loves to look good. (Hey, I appreciate his support of Israel, but why did Gov Abbott go visit Israel when he could of, oh, I don't know, cajoled the Legislature into giving him his so-called legislative priority of school choice?) The German part of Switzerland is heavy on great views and mountain hikes. The Swiss/Italian lake cantons are fascinating for the combo of Italian culture with Swiss orderliness. Germans vacation there a lot. A good place to spend some time if you're not feeling too athletic. The French part of Switzerland (Geneva, etc.) is very expensive.
