My bulldogs had a very exciting Halloween hanging out on the porch with me. I was afraid the kids would be afraid of them (they were behind a gate, but barked a lot), but 80% begged to pet them.

Soon, the porch light goes off. The number of kids has dwindled over the last 20 years. Started at about 30 each Halloween, and now is down to...zero, so far. Disappointing, as I enjoy seeing them in their costume, and enjoying themselves.
Also, it leaves a LOT of chocolate candy to be consumed.

I'm living in the house I grew up in... there were over 40 kids who lived on my BLOCK, all within about 6 years of age... Halloween was a HOOT...

I live in a neighborhood that is mostly older with larger properties now...no young ones - a few older kids like around 10 or so, but it's sad...I miss Halloween and the fun we had with the little ones giving out treats and seeing the costumes. Man, I'm old.

Had that happen once, the freezer was not dead, but the GFI outlet it was on popped. So I had to clean it. I have gutted many wild game creatures, never a problem. The smell in that freezer was something from hell. First started with bleach, then, Lots of baking soda and water spray, Then dawn dish soap, then some lemon juice spray. Then I left it in the garage for a month and it was fine. But the thought of that smell. Yea, I don't think it was the skull mask scaring them away.

We do to. Just had one group, parents driving their ATV's with a snowmobile trailer hooked up to it loaded with kids. Snow still everywhere but kudos to them no jackets. We had princess' a soldier, Darth Vader, some Pokemon looking thing and a fireman. Parents all look like they're having fun. One of the mom's blushed and asked if she could use the bathroom, no problem. Kids were psyched when they got full size Snickers and Hershey's. Fun times.

I hunt and keep meat in the freezer, but I also like having the does bring their little ones through the yard. We've watched one momma have what I suspect is her first offspring, and we've watched the little snowflake grow into what would become a nice little yearling.
It was hit and dead on the side of the road yesterday morning where they always cross about 300 yards pass our driveway. It was weird that it made me sort of sad. I always feel kind of bad about any of them because it's such a waste, but I think I actually said "Oh no" when I saw it.

Cats make the oddest sounds when they are trying to get an alien cat to back off and run away. If it doesn't work and a fight starts its 100 decibel yowling with fur flying out in clouds. The other odd sound is when a cat, especially an older one has lost track of you and is calling out to find you. Super sad.

You can put amazing things in a tortilla. My favorite was fried chicken livers, cheddar and cottage cheese. However for lunch today it was refried beans, rice, corned beef from last night's roast, and hot sauce. I have been known to use sauerkraut too.

I like to try and think of why something would be good or bad luck. Throwing rope into the water off a ship = limited amount of rope at sea, and it can get hung up in the props. Walking under ladders = stuff falls on you.
I always figured the crows had something to do with you having something worthwhile around to investigate or eat.

It is a personal thing, but there was a time when things were going bad for me and I was spiraling them into worse funks. I started walking, and I finally decided that every time I saw a crow, I would say things will be better, and if I saw three crows I could be sure what I was thinking on would turn out to be OK. Then I decided I was wasting my time being in a funk when I could think of good things I wanted to have happen and the crows meant they would turn out good too, so I got my head out of a permanent funk and into being positive.
All I can say is that it worked for me. And why I feed crows

We're rural enough that they're still scared of humans and won't come right up to you, but I feed them, too, and they'll come down to eat so long as we're on the porch. It's been my experience that it's always the same group of different threes depending on what time of day it is, which is neat. And now when I drive around and watch I tend to notice groups of threes more than other numbers.

The underlying issue is that the entire Western World is built upon the concept of limitless growth, you can't have growth without more people, and since Western countries have deprecated and disincentived the having of families and children for their own citizens all together, you need people from elsewhere to grow your populations.

I haven't heard the Dbacks called the Danger Noodles before. I guess I don't watch enough baseball any more. I used to watch every televised game I could.
I am still astounded Arizona team ownership respected the voting by the locals and named the team the Diamondbacks. A merciless pit viper. Insane.

The senseless sacrifice of perfectly good grapes for raisins MUST STOP. And oatmeal raisin cookies are the root cause of many trust issues. We have better uses for grapes.

M47 Patton tanks. I was in my late teens before I discovered what a Tiger tank and an 88mm gun actually looked like. From buying the Ballentine WW2 history series books that were published beginning in the early 70s.

They were Friday the 13th "costumes", except they were just t-shirts that said "Camp Crystal Lake" or whatever the name was, with a 13 on the back.
It really was a modern day version of those plastic costumes we wore in 3rd grade.
