I had a good friend who had a macaw. Yuuge vet bills. Arms always scratched from the bird climbing around on her.

Based on my observations, I wouldn't recommend a macaw as a house pet.

219 Sorry to hear about that, Ben Had. Large animal deaths are always difficult to deal with, and some ranchers are not very sympathetic at all. Back in the 80's me and my crew were doing some workover work on a cattle ranch, and one of the cows had died up on some hill a couple days before. So, the boss sent a couple of his hands out to get it and bring it to a pit where they were gonna dispose of it. So me and the two guys with me are standing near a dirt road, and here comes this flat bed pickup with a chain wrapped around the back two legs of that cow, dragging it down the road at about 20 mph. The sight was bad enough; then as it passed the smelll washed over us. All three of us just about puked on the spot.

that's an experience I don't need to repeat.

Not here. I scored a case (250 rounds) of 12 ga 00 buck earlier in the year. Checked Monday, have 6 lbs of 777 Pyrodex and 4 lbs of 2f bp with 300 .50 cal round balls, 53 lbs of lead & 2k percussion caps along with 8k of .22lr.

So I don't have to break into the .45 & .223 and still be able to shoot.

If you aren't careful when cleaning cages, you can get an auto immune disease that damages your lungs. It's a reaction to the bird dander.

He used to take the blue and gold and the greenwing out front and set them up in the maple tree. They'd stay there happily. Tried it once with the Moluccan. It went straight to the top and wouldn't come down. Had to send his son up after it.
