A staffer for GOP congresswoman Katie Britt was robbed at gunpoint in DC.

A staff member working for Republican Alabama Sen. Katie Britt was robbed at gunpoint Thursday night near Washington, D.C.'s, Kingman Park neighborhood, according to Fox 5 DC's Allison Papson.
The staffer was walking from her parked car in the 1200 block of Maryland Ave NE when she was allegedly approached by the suspect. He reportedly pointed a black handgun in her face and said "give me your purse and keys," according to a police report obtained and shared by Papson. The staffer has been identified as Amanda Peper, Fox 5 reported Friday night.
The suspect allegedly took the staffer's purse and keys and drove off, fleeing east in her white Acura RDX, per the police report.
Besides allegedly losing her car, the staffer was also robbed of her phone, gold Apple MacBook and her Louis Vutton purse, the police report reads.

Dave Chappelle-- who is not any kind of conservative, he's just such a hard left racist that he gets angry when trans people intrude on his endless black pity part -- went on some kind of pro-Palestinian rant at a ~~comedy show~~ leftwing lecture.

There are two different accounts of this rant at Breitbart; the second one, by the WSJ and maybe only containing claims that have been verified, is much less toxic than the one offered by a FaceBook poster.

Liz Cheney claims the GOP has elevated "white supremacists and antisemitists" (what?) to leadership positions.

Sounds like she's talking about her own party, the Democrat Party.

Former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney blistered House Republicans Sunday over the turmoil over the speakership -- accusing Rep. Kevin McCarthy of cultivating a hotbed of extremism that led to the recent chaos.
"What we've seen is a result of the leadership decisions that Kevin McCarthy made back after the 2020 election and certainly after January 6," Cheney, a Republican, said of the ousted House speaker during an interview on CNN's "State of the Union."
"Looking the other way in the face of the kind of assault on our democracy that we've seen from Donald Trump and his allies in the House, including Jim Jordan; elevating those members, frankly, some of whom are white supremacists, some of whom are antisemitic," she went on.
The political scion did not specify which House Republicans she believed were harboring white supremacist or antisemitic sympathies.

"Listen to what you're saying, that's crazy!" CNN host Jake Tapper interjected after Cheney talked about the damage her endorsement could do. "You're super conservative. More than any of the House Republican leadership. You are more conservative than the woman who replaced you -- Elise Stefanik -- you're just not nuts and anti-democracy!"

Jake Tapper thinks that Cheney is a Republican. He's an excellent Journalizm.

A record number -- 2 million -- have been arrested crossing Biden's wide-open border, with an unknown number of "gotaways."

And note that most of the 2 million "arrested" will be allowed to wait in the US for their asylum hearings, which will take place in 4 to 7 years. And they'll probably blow off that hearing, as most illegal aliens do.

United States border authorities arrested more than 2 million people who attempted to enter the country unlawfully from Mexico or Canada over the past 12 months, marking the second time ever that that figure has topped the 1986 record of 1.692 million, according to data published Saturday.
The historically high 2.06 million in fiscal 2023, which ended Sept. 30, is another blow to the Biden administration after surpassing 2.2 million in 2022, particularly after the administration's claims for more than 30 months that its changes to border and immigration policies would reduce illegal crossings.
Of the 2.06 million illegal crossing arrests in 2023, which does not include people who crossed but got away, 624,000 people arrived as part of a family unit; 1.3 million were single adults; and 131,000 were unaccompanied children, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data.
Ninety-nine percent of illegal crossers arrested came across the Mexico border, and the remainder came across the northern border.

What's a good way to ease into it? I was thinking getting some BB guns and practicing with them for general "Get better at hitting a target and feeling how a gun works." Also good to train the kiddos up and gun safety without being lethal, right? Or is there a better way? Maybe the Gun thread can have a "beginners" thread or at least a sort of sticky "Here's things to consider" bit.

idk if the John Birch Society was prevalent in a lot of Christian churches, but I think perhaps an element of their influence was. My later 70's group seemed to have its influence, though they never talked of it in name.

Certainly the attack on the church was in league with the commie revolution. Go to a big sporting goods store or any gun store. Store price for the basic model should be about $300. Shop for one at that price. You will have to fill out and sign a BATF transfer form and be background checked (it takes only a few minutes).

They get turned over to CBP and processed for further travel into the US' interior. They are not counted in the numbers put out by the fed dot gov because they were not caught crossing the border by said fed dot gov.

How often does this happen? Thousands of times each year just in my SE AZ county. Most of the smuggling attempts are successful however, because there are very few CBP left in this AO and the Sheriff doesn't have the deputies to constantly patrol the area that needs patrolling just for this. They do a good job with what they have but it isn't nearly enough with the feds MIA.

The John Birch Society was fairly mainstream though quite a bit more upper crust than it is today. Their views at the time didn't really diverge from common Republican views, except in regards to the leader of the Birch society regarding Eisenhower specifically.

What is Trump asking them to watch for? Can't tell because it's 9 seconds out of what is probably a pretty long speech. The sentence immediately prior would probably provide that context, but there's a reason the clip is brief.
