A million years ago, I worked with two people who had lived in "Saudi Arabia" in the70s.

One was the wife of an Aramco Executive. She thought "Saudi Arabia" was WON-derful! A GREAT place to live, with SO much to do -- she did a lot of community theater -- and it was beautiful and blah, blah, blah. I told her she didn't live in "Saudi Arabia" -- she lived in Aramcoland, a VERY different place. A place where they had their own stores, services, restaurants, BARS, hospitals, doctors, etc. More a little piece of America, the "Am" part of Aramco. If they left Aramcoland to, oh, say, visit the sights of KSA, it was organized by Aramco and chaperoned by Aramco security.

The other person was a man, and being a man, got to leave Aramcoland periodically. (I if I recall correctly, as a single male, he wasn't entitled to actually LIVE in Aramcoland, and had to find housing in the real Saudi Arabia.) He despised Saudi Arabia, thought it was a backward, backwater hellhole that should be turned into a huge sheet of glass.
