Just Another Teachable Moment for Our Failure-Factory Universities, Which They Will All Of Course Fail to Learn From

Wow.

An instructor at Stanford University has been suspended for what the president and provost called "identity-based targeting" of students in connection with the Israel-Gaza war.
Rabbi Dov Greenberg, director of the Chabad Stanford Jewish Center, said he was told by three students who were in the room that the instructor asked Jewish and Israeli students to identify themselves during a session for a required undergraduate course called "Civil, Liberal and Global Education."
The teacher told the Jewish students to take their belongings, stand in a corner, and said, "This is what Israel does to the Palestinians," Greenberg said, citing the student accounts. The instructor then asked, "How many people died in the Holocaust?" When a student answered, "Six million," the lecturer said, "Colonizers killed more than 6 million. Israel is a colonizer."

This is what happens when you hire loathsome, stupid, ignorant, unqualified hateful"instructors" based only on race and identity and their eagerness to hate all other races, and then tell them they have absolute moral authority to do whatever they want without ever being questioned about it.

DEFUND THE UNIVERSITIES. THEY CANNOT BE SAVED.

For the private ones, tax their endowments. Most will fail when that happens because they live hand-to-mouth. The huge institutions like the Ivies and Stanford will survive even that, but that's where the Philip K Dick solution comes into play.

44 That's really terrible. I went to a "Support Israel" rally at a synagogue last night. Every single speaker there condemned moral equivalency and condemned Hamas in the strongest terms . Two people waved large Israeli flags during some of the hymns sung in Hebrew. It was very touching. One politician- I don't know who he was- has a son in the IDF.

I got out just in time, graduating in the spring of '08. I watched the start of this unfold in real time.

Prior to about November of 2007, I found that college was full of communists but generally tolerant of the unclean wrongthinkers like me. I had one professor who thought otherwise, and I dressed her down before I walked out in the middle of class and went to the registrar to drop the course. One, out of all of them.

Then Obama came onto the scene and started rising. Everything got harder-edged, virtually overnight. By the time he started winning primaries, the transition was well underway. The wrongthinkers were not to be tolerated anymore. My social circle started retracting. The professors started getting more vicious with wrongthinkers. I don't know what it was about Obama, but it was like an invisible signal had gone out that this was finally their time.

It was creepy and I'm glad I got out when I did.

That was my college experience in the 90s. I was in a small minority of non-leftists. But I had o fear expressing my views. I had a couple of professors start out the semester saying "I believe X, but I want to be challenged". Those were some of the most fun classes, lots of debate. Today that doesn't exist anymore.

And political stuff just wan't really a thing. It was there if you wanted it. But in every day college life it wasn't, really.

Tangentially, I watched Missing this morning, the Costa-Gavras film starring Sissy Spacek and Jack Lemmon, about a real event where a young man was killed by Pinochet's military in the days after the coup that led to his rise to power.

The film is built to condemn American state department resources for helping to cover up what happened to the guy, with a tangential finger pointed at Pinochet, but at its core I was inevitably reminded of Midnight Express, another film about a young American who goes to a foreign country with the expressed purpose of breaking another country's laws and how awful it is that those countries just...don't let American citizens do what they want.

I see it as worse than that. The threat is entirely vague, no structure or recommendation as to how to obey this "law".

That way, when the banks fail because of the requirement to make loans to people who can easily default and even flee the country, the government will say that they never required them to make the loans.

He should not weather another country's uniform or flag when performing as a member of the house.

I would never have even known he was I. The idf had he bot done such a stupid thing.

Beyond that wearing these things suggests divided loyalty and if he served another country's military, is in that country's reserves, has citizenship or any lawful obligations that should be noted for everybody, especially if he has any committee assignments involving that country.

If there was any truth to the reports yesterday that El-Al (the Israeli national airline) is starting to fly in 500,000 reservists living abroad, this is probably the reason why. They won't need half a million extra men to deal with Gaza, but they might if they have to beat back a major invasion from Lebanon and/or Syria.

In the Civil War, Gen Sherman was reported as insane by the press when as leader of the district facing Kentucky he fretted about attacks and made what turned out to be accurate projections of the hundreds of thousands of men needed to subdue the South. To be fair he was approaching nervous exhaustion, but after that he hated the press and made a lot of amusing comments about them.

After a bit Sherman was reassigned to assist Grant in his moves south into Tennessee and in his first battle calmed down considerably.

Not local Jews, since after the *second* Jewish revolt under Hadrian which also ravaged other parts of the empire (Cyrenacia and Cyprus IIRC) he destroyed the city and temple and deported all the Jews there.

In the early empire the Province was called Judea.

This is an interesting gotcha, but I think it lacks important context.

The left are doing these things to Jews following a massive, brutal massacre of innocent civilians, including small children and babies.

I personally find this instructive. The left will continue to do the things they do to the rest of us no matter the circumstances. It's a moment of clarity for everyone who has any doubts about who the left are.

I found that during COVID the most over the top repression was NYC and the synagogues, locking down parks in Jewish areas. Meanwhile Gay Bathouses and Pot shops were open.

Very poignant, indeed. I sent the link to a number of friends and acquaintances. It needs to be viewed by many who have no idea of what the Jews have gone through over the years. The man is over 95 years old and still has "the fight" in him.
